Glad this game is getting some attention! Hot tip for those starting the game: you'll get a tool to cut down shrubbery which are these vine like plants which give you mixed greens. I'm telling y'all this cuz baker bear's 1st quest is to gather a bunch of mixed greens and since I didn't know about the shrubs I ended up buying mixed greens from Mr. Kit who was only selling 1 mixed green a day so a quest I should have been able to complete that same day ended up taking me multiple. Hope this helps!
After over two months I also want to add, the team who made Cozy Grove feels more responsive. The amount of qualify of life changes from when it was first released it stunning. It also makes me a bit annoyed at Animal Crossing.
My biggest qualm with ACNH is the 2 dimensional villagers. The last AC game I played was Wild World, where the animals had actual personalities and you had to earn their friendship (as in, some of them would literally hate you and berate you until you befriended them enough). What I’m loving about these indie games is the meaningful relationships you build with the others. Namely Spiritfarer and Cozy Grove. Giving the characters depth really draws people into the game’s world, and I’m sad ACNH strayed away from that. :/ I hope with the next game, they bring back depth into the villagers
I consider Cozy grove completely different from animal crossing. Its a mini quest daily game. You also will not be able to “change” your island if you don’t like what an area looks like. No moving trees and plants when they are just in the way. Love both games but not the same... just have some similarities.
Keep your gameplay out of my Animal Crossing! Actually, don't; it's sorely needed. This looks pretty decent, but I'm saving my pennies for the eventual release of Rune Factory 5 because I like to occasionally kick the crap out of some stuff in my cutesy farming builders.
Glad to see this getting some love from Eurogamer! I took a chance and bought it at launch on Switch and have played it every day since (usually just before bed since you can finish all your tasks for the day in about an hour). There was an update yesterday, as well, which seems to have given us expanded storage earlier in the game (inventory management was driving me a little crazy up to that point) and a few other little improvements. Genuinely had a jaw-drop moment to see that you can exchange quartz gemstones for coins, though - I'd missed that so far in my game! So, ta muchly for the tip! :D
Cozy Grove is fun.. I have it. However, after a while it can feel quite repetitive. But I love it for unwinding & it’s apart of my “Cozy Games” collection this Fall season. 🍂
The fact that this is only £11 on the PSN Store too....I wasn't interested initially but after watching this I might have to check this out, thanks Zoe! :)
I was told to play this! My coworker is a big survivalist/camper/gamer lol. I love Animal Crossing but sadly it is too cartoony. This is artistic and homey.
Now with a bunch of updates, gemstones are actually the one thing that I always lack (and walnuts also). I use them for buying furnitures and decorations from Valentina. Old coins can be easily obtained buy selling baked goods.
Now I really want to play the game too!! I never heard of this before and since I don't have a Nintendo switch, this would be a good alternate since it's available on steam and I could play it 😭❤
Well...13,99,- € - I`ll HAVE to buy it after this video! Looks so intriguing and it definitely reminds me of Don't Starve, which I love! Thanks for giving it some attention - I've never heard of it before watching this video!
Oooh it gets attention!! A friend gave it to me on release day and we've been playing and sharing stories every day. I highly recommend playing in tandem with a friend~
The original Animal Crossing will always be the best in the series. None of its sequels have anywhere near as much charm. The original is addicting because it is so fun and so engaging. The sequels are dull.
@@scarlettg.5772 I never played it. I only played City Folk (briefly) and New Horizons. Neither has come anywhere close to the original. What other games do you enjoy from Nintendo's heyday?
Maybe the villagers are better in the GCN original, but the design elements of the original Animal Crossing are incredibly lacking. Grow a couple of trees and plant flowers to decorate your island, and do the simple tasks of fishing and bug catching. The original gets repetitive much faster than the newer games. At least you can design your island after you get bored with villager interaction. And I mean, Animal Crossing has never been the best at characterisation anyway (besides design). Rune Factory, Stardew Valley and others do it in a much more meaningful manner.
Playrd both cozy groves loved them for a while but now that I have the switch coming I am buying animal crossing and I am much more excited about acnh but I love the comparison video thank you! :)
Although I respect your opinion, I like both games. But as I played Cozy Grove, I found a few drawbacks. 1. You can’t give your player a name. 2. Really cringey sounds when scrolling though the menu. 3. You have to use two buttons to use a fishing rod. ZR to throw and A to reel in. And those sequences are hard to remember. Whereas in Animal Crossing, those actions are done with A. 4. To cancel a throw, you have to lower the throwing power then press ZR which costs a few seconds. 5. You cannot sit on furniture and place objects on top of tables. (I know this isn’t Animal Crossing but it’ll be nice to have that ability in this game as well). 6. Really soft dialogue sounds from NPCs or maybe the volume in the options wasn’t loud enough. 7. You cannot eat the cooked dishes or fruits/vegetables you’ve harvested. 8. In this game 1 brown coin is 1. 1 silver coin is 100. It’ll takes a lot to get your savings up to 1,000. In Animal Crossing 1 coin is 100 bells. And you can spend on items quickly. 9. I can easily forget that Y opens up your pack and X shows your quests. 10. When selecting multiple items, you have to press X to select more than one and Y to immediately sell/donate/store the item which I find confusing. In Animal Crossing, to sell/discard an item, I can just use A to select multiple items. EDIT: 11. It’s really complicated to catch bugs. You cannot move with the net equipped. And all the bugs are timid and easily run away from you. 12. You can name your pets but you have to select the pre-made names instead of using a keyboard to type a name of your own. 13. The rocks where the iron ores are mined from blend into the background which makes it hard to find and worse yet, there are quests that needs materials made from iron ores. (Thank God an update has solved this) 14. The cooking update just came out in Animal Crossing and the cooking time is very reliable and fast. Cooking in this game though, I have to wait FIVE MINUTES for my dish to finish. Why? 15. The machete, shovel and pickaxe breaks after several uses. In order to mend it, you have to let the durability reach 0 and then gather several materials to fix them. Whereas in Animal Crossing when those tools break, you have the option to buy another from the store. 16. The Fall Festival items stay in the game all year round (I have the lanterns which are useful because like other lamps in the game, they light up the unlit sections). However the winter festival items once you place them over the land, they disappear once the festival has ended. And you have to craft those items again once the festival comes back after another year. Overall the game is relaxing, it has multiple songs that changes when one song ends, the character’s movement is cute, and the art style is so classy.
I just wish they hadn't made it that the main character is ALWAYS face on irrespective of which direction you are walking! It significantly detracts from the game for me and thus far has put me off buying it!
@@nightcatarts combat I'll agree with, but "sprawling world" seems to be its whole Thing, and I'd be very shocked if each major "region" or "area" on the island doesn't lean toward a seasonal/climate plant theme
@@austinknight5881 This looks to me more like an unfurling world thing where it begins tiny & gradually expands. @@nightcatarts I dunno about RF5, it's not yet released (where I live at least) but "there's a story and you'll only find it by building connections with the people who were here when it happened" is pretty much the whole base of the Rune Factory series. Hi! I love Cozy Grove! It might be because you might not be used to This type of game style, ( not amusing ) and that’s okay! ❤ Everyone likes what they like. Just please be respectful about it. Have a blessed day.
In that game you cant make your Island/town unique to you. Also cosy grove lacks customisation. Also you can skip diolaugue in Animal Crossing. Also it can be fun talking to Blathers as he has a dislike for bugs wich can be funny. You cannot villager hunt for dream villagers...And yes we do have ghosts in Animal Crossing. The art style is way better in Animal Crossing. You cannot costomise your villager and all the Villagers are dead. All the rabbits, dogs, cats ect. Have unique designs in Animal Crossing. It must he Hella boring to play Cosy Grove. Cosy Grove is probably a Rip off of Animal Crossing and I'd stick to animal crossing were the characters are not lifless and boring.
Play Cozy Grove for 2 days and abandon it forever. For AC it takes a few months. For me CG just too frustraiting. Misleading clues for quest items, not a fan on art style, irritating inventory management. CG is like a fusion of Animal Crossing and Spiritfarer. But I better play each of this game separately instead of playing cozy grove.
I felt the same way after the first few days of Cozy Grove, but I'm on day 26 now and still going. The developer is constantly retweaking the game based on feedback from players so now, location clues & their corresponding items more or less match. There are still quality of life improvements that should be implemented such as letting players manually input the quantity of an item they want to recycle, sell, craft, or bake. There's a slider for the last 3 but not recycling. 🤷🏾 It's a wonder why many of the changes weren't part of the game to begin with. It's almost like they released a beta version.

This game looks like Don't Starve and Animal Crossing had game baby with Spiritfarer.
And also with Supergiant's Hades (with the unlocking hearts/getting to know characters system).

This game also has a Discord with a very helpful community and devs looking for feedback.

By the way, beautiful voice. Should narrate books.
