there's a similar game like that called ATOM RPG, it's actually pretty fun and, if i remember correctly, was based off the mechanics of the OG Fallouts.
Even after watching these shorts a bunch of times, I honestly never get tired of these videos. I absolutely love the series and one-day hope to finally play the older games. 1,2, and Tactics are collecting virtual dust in my steam Library but, I wanna figure out how to do Mods so I can do the ones that cut content and fixes.
Don't let mods hold you back. Fallout 1 and 2 can be played without any mods just fine. Fallout 2 is a lot harder than 1, but still very doable. Just make sure you have a good starting build. Fallout Tactics is kind of meh imo, not great not horrible.

It took every other Fallout crashing constantly to give the first two games another try and end up really enjoying them. Tried my first playthrough of the fixt mod without the cheats, got the water chip and the alien blaster; got to where I am thanks entirely to random dice rolls.

Did i miss it or have you not covered the plated boxing gloves in New Reno? If you have them in your inventory when you do the prize fights, you use them instead of the regular pair. Which is quite a boost because they have steel plates in them and do between 2x and 5x more damage than the default pair.
It blows my mind how a lot of younger peoples introduction to the series was FO3 or even NV or FO4. My introduction was Fallout. None of the other games were released at that point. I was just a kid
i used to think my first fallout game was f3, but then when i was playing f2 my dad recognised the temple in the intro and now i think i remember having a pirated fallout 2 cd as a kid but never progressing that much in the game (and him neither he hates reading dialogue)
I'm 20 years old but I love love love playing games from the 90s/ early 2000s. Half-Life, fallout, Thief, system shock, Morrowind, Daggerfall and such. Infact, I'd say I prefer these games over more modern games (I play both, but I have a preference for retro gaming).
The pop rocks thing was hilarious, I wasn't paying attention to the video for a moment. Only to look back and see the character explode, I was like "huh..? Lol!"

From watching this. The next fallout better have a system where every quest gives you a perk that describes the affects on the world and allows you special dialogue in future interactions from the fame you get for completing said quest. Also, persuasion needs to be a leveled game where speech only gets you so far. Like speech can get you 1/3rd the way there or 2/3rds based on speech skill but you would still need to pass a subsequent skill check on explosives or medicine to fully persuade someone.
That's a terrible system for speech. The percentile idea Fallout 3 bad was perfect though should be tweaked in the future, so that even if you have high speech depending on the stats of the NPC and RNG, you can still fail, like DnD.

In DnD, the concept of success is flexible and content is created and adjusted on the fly to adjust for player decisions. Videogames shouldn't always try to emulate tabletop logic 1:1, even in games where it largely works (e.g. Baldur's Gate 3) it's still frustrating to have a character fail at something he's built to be good at, when in tabletop it's easier to flavor such failures as the opposition being particularly resilient instead
I've actually emailed the lead art designer of f01 to ask about the clay heads, even he doesn't know where they are I've also had one person tell me that the clay was so fragile that they probably melted in some way atp

The very first one confirms my suspicion about Nuka Cola. Which is that I'm not sure if the Fallout 1 & 2 devs were on the same page about whether the beverage was pre-war or post-war. The original item description says, "A bottle of Nuka-Cola, the flavored softdrink of the post-nuclear world. Warm and flat." There are two ways that I can think of to interpret this description in a vacuum. 1. This is the only soda left from before the war and it's flat now. 2. This softdrink is OF the post-nuclear world. It's flat and warm because the means used to create this beverage after the bombs is crude and there's not a lot of refrigerators. That would explain the branding & how the vending machines are restocked. It's not a limited pre-war commodity someone is bottling and delivering it from some grungey post-nuclear vat. In the first game the currency was bottle caps generally, not specifically Nuka Cola caps. And by Fallout 2 there's a new coin based currency, which is what is used in these likely refurbished vending machines.
Closet thing we had to Fallout 2 was Fallout 3. The wacky yet dark themes, homages to pop culture that inspired the series, cheesy but funny dialogue. New Vegas is superior in gameplay and story but 3 is as close to an official 3D remake as we're gonna get
