If you live by a set code, such a bushido, the strictly calls for you to avenge a particular slight then it is certainly lawful evil. This actual came up during an episode of Stargate SG-1. In an episode where an alternate version of Teal'c became the First Prime of Baal and Baal died Teal'c mentioned that he HAD to avenge his master. Not because he was angry, or because he loved his master but because that was his duty and job as first prime and since his master had did right by him in life he was obligated to due right by him in death. Isn't that the very definition of lawful evil?
If there's one massive difference between the two brothers, it's in how they operate when push comes to shove. Frieza takes his time flexing and tormenting his victims, not even really trying until something actually pisses him off or he gets bored. Cooler is a lot more up-front and personal with it, at least as far as his fight against Goku. He's fully committed to taking Goku down personally, pulls no punches, and doesn't wait until literally ALL of his assets are gone before acting. To Cooler, it's serious and personal business and he's dedicated to doing whatever it takes to defeat Goku and get the kill, even if it means getting drastic. To Frieza, it's a cruel game of sadistic suffering and playing with his food awhile before actually trying to kill it. One is a ruthless and uncompromising assassin, and the other is a galactic bully.
I think part of that is due to a difference of circumstance. When Freeza first encountered the Earthlings and Vegeta, he was convinced they weren't a threat or problem and it wasn't until they became both, albeit not to him at first, that he took action. Once he did, he consistently proved he could handle them until Goku went Super Sayain at which point the fight was basically over. Cooler, on the other hand, went into his encounter with Goku and the others already aware that Goku had defeated Freeza which meant he had to take things seriously since Goku was a proven threat instead of a mild annoyance he could handle at any time.
@@Lorekeeper72 Well, yeah. Unfortunately that's what sort of comes of only having a couple of movies to talk about... and having almost all of the major plot centered on Goku (like almost everything else in DB). I've said it many times before, and I'll say it again: Goku remains DB's biggest problem. To this day the whole formula surrounding him and short-changing almost everybody else has only been averted TWICE.
Yep, 100% though I would probably debate the whole 'revenge as evil' thing as a hard rule since you could argue a lot of heroes get their first push to adventure in order to seek revenge.
The problem with Cooler is that he simply doesn't have the screen time to get the development beyond what was mentioned in the video. However, I think the idea of a more grounded and "down to earth" version of Frieza that is far more interested in pushing their limits would be fun to have. Frieza is still, even in the current story, higher than thou in every sense of the term. Imagine a version of Frieza that could relate and hold a conversation with Goku and Vegeta, all while sitting in Frieza's current shadow! Imagine a Cooler that started out feeling above Frieza for ages because He trained for years, only to be outdone in a matter of months. Then they finally reach that limit only for Frieza to go and do it AGAIN. It's like a condensed version of Vegeta, but with a far more vicious personality. Typing that all out, that's probably WHY they haven't brought Cooler back. He probably WOULD just wind up a condensed version of Vegeta through the course of any plot they put him through because Frieza is stupid OP.
One other thing about Cooler that wouldn't really happen except under the most dire of circumstances with Frieza is that Cooler, even if he never does make a full heel-face turn, would still be a lot more willing to help out against a bigger threat _without_ screwing everyone else over. Frieza did help during the ToP arc, but even then he was gladly willing to betray U7 until he found out that he'd be erased if U7 lost regardless of what universe he was working for.
They should have brought him back instead of giving his whole deal to Hit. I could see him either being a Thrawn like character, recovering his brothers empire bit by bit or just leaving all that and just fucking off to some planet to rule it.
I agree on the LE ding on the Avenging Mission. Cooler doesn't really care personally that his brother is dead and in a way this isn't really about revenge. It's about Honor and Respect. his family rules the universe and if he lets the death of his brother slide it makes him and his father look weak, so it's his responsibility as a ruler to show strength to his underlings and his people, to show that you can't just kick the cold empire and expect to get away with it. It's a feudal mindset we saw in historical kings and emperors or even for a more modern day example gangsters and mobsters like the Italian Mafia, it doesn't matter if they personally give two shits about what you did, all the matters is how other will perceive their inaction. If doing nothing makes them look merciful and prudish then they might let you get away with it, but if it makes them look weak then they have cut that line of thought asap.
11:32 A number of things; Cooler tries to get the job done, he doesn't dick around and be sadist. He didn't waste time going after Goku and his friends again; he went after ANOTHER PLANET! He is TACTICAL. He didn't go the emotional approach like Frezia and instead focused on overwhelming his opponent, out numbering his foe and out thinking his opponent. His mindset relied on taking action and getting his hands dirty himself when the job called for it, he didn't waste time doing nothing while ordering people around. He only went there to kill Goku out of lawful evil behavior NOT out for emotional reasons. Cooler in my eyes is the hard worker/ thinker; he gets his hands dirty alongside his employees to get the best result. Now what did Frezia do when it came to taking on an opponent? He toyed with his opponent, slowly powering up and showing off each form instead of getting to his final form. Frezia took a back seat and stayed hands off as long as possible. Frezia leaving his opponent alive instead of finishing them off. Frezia played with his food, didn't go for the kill like with Krillin. Frezia in my eyes is the kick back, kill your own men for being failures, hating to get his hands dirty, much more slothful and less tactical; he's the kind of boss who yells at his employees and groan at the idea of doing actual work (hyperbole with groan but you get the picture)
06:05 Honestly, I'd argue neutral evil, mostly because he does so as a tactical maneuver more than anything else. It's a largely self serving act because he knows that Goku would get in the way of the hit.
I would say that revenge solely due to what is essentially a 'blood oath', be that family or something else, without factoring in your personal desire for such does count as acting on pre-existing rules, which by definition leans lawful. It's specifically Lawful in absense of anything that would make it Chaotic.
Cooler becomes basically a Artificer Lich …….That is the only thing that I separates him from his struggles (Yes, I saw pointy hats video just before I saw this one. How did you know?)
It's nice that Frieza is the diminutive evil brat who can't help but beat around the bush, while Cooler is the big muscular "Get this s**t done" brother. Makes you wonder what King Cold was like in his heyday.
01:13 Frieza's First Form (which you probably refer to), was never his base form. His base form is his so called "Final Form", cause his previous forms are only to suppress his power, that he can't control (so his reason). For Kind Cold, we don't know better. Maybe this is his base form or not.
I think you are absolutely correct in labeling revenge lawful evil in this case. Anything that is done in service of maintaining "an oath" would easily be classified as lawful in my book. Even if it is the upholding of an oath of anarchy, it is still somehow lawful
I always liked that Cooler felt like a more professional take on Frieza. I do agree on his revenge being lawful evil, it's not about avenging a slight to him or someone he cares for, it's a slight to his family name, empire and indirectly his title. It feels like he sets out on the revenge quest because it's an unwritten(or maybe even written) rule that it's simply what you do when someone in your family gets killed. As for coming back, I can see him getting the Broly treatment, though I'd like it if he was an even bigger department from his brother in super, maybe even have him try to play at being a benevolent dictator for his part of the galaxy or something like that.
I would like to see someone on the opposite side of Freeza again Freeza in the years has become what Cooler was- suave, cool (pun intended), evil tyrant but is mostly just doing his own thing. Masako (voice of Abridged Goku) put out a raido drama where there was another (younger) brother to Freeza who was fucking insane, and then a son(?) of Freeza. It would be nice to see either of those canon. (And if you haven’t, could you do the Sailor Scouts? I know they'll all end up somewhere on the Lawful/Neutral Good chart, but I love them)
i would say a big difference between cooler and frieza is their attitudes, frieza was childish, he was rash, had others fight for him and was extremely petty (like when he was losing he blew up the planet so goku would die). cooler was more mature, he wanted to see gokus body to confirm his death not just assuming, he joined into the fight aswell not waiting on the sidelines and he actually trained unlike frieza (until super), frieza is a kid who got all that power at a young age and never matured while cooler matured and used his power right like a real evil emperor.
I agree with lawful evil ruling. He Cooler doesn't want to likely see it as a waste of, but this isn't a about what he wants it about maintaining family appearances. that the empire is still encharged.
Honestly I'd have loved to see more of that sibling rivalry between him and Frieza, and given Frieza's current status in the canon, they can definitely bring that in as a reason as to why he decided to get stronger.
Metal Cooler is lame, as is his movie. It ruined what was interesting about him and just makes him into a generic lunatic. However, I am fond of Cooler's first interpretation. Just some things I like about him off the top of my head: - He recognizes that it's impossible to crush every potential threat before they arise unlike his father and brother so he goes out of his way to train so that he can handle any threat that arises before he ever experiences a loss. - He doesn't kill his men for minor mistakes, he even steps in to defend his armoured squad from Goku without really reprimanding them because they're valuable, just not up to the task of killing Goku in particular. See how Frieza threatened to kill Zarbon for his mistakes with Vegeta, whereas Cooler just tells his men to get to it when they question his decision to find Goku's body. - He's practical and to the point. If Frieza got off his ass at all on Namek before there was nobody else to help him he never would have lost. Cooler is hands on the moment he realizes his minions are having trouble. - He doesn't believe he's won until he actually confirms it. - Something you brushed over in the video, he actually is really skilled! With his supernova attack yes it's the same as Frieza's attack, but it's actually pointed out because he's practiced it at length he can basically charge it in an instant whereas it took a significant amount of time for Frieza to do so. Frieza on the other hand is an untrained brute who barely knows how to fight, he just coasts on his natural strength. I believe it's actually mentioned in a guidebook for this movie that because of Cooler's training and skills he would have beaten Super Saiyan Goku on Namek because Cooler was skilled enough to handle a foe close to his own strength unlike Frieza. (Super Saiyan Goku beat Cooler because Goku had gotten stronger than he was on Namek by the time of the movie) Frieza in DB Super would steal his willingness to train, but even then I'd argue its kind of different. It took Frieza getting his ass beaten multiple times before he really commits to self improvement- even with Golden Frieza he kind of half assed it by rushing off the moment he got a pay off. His work ethic to achieve Black Frieza only came from hard lessons. Cooler on the other hand just knew from the get go being complacent is dumb.
honestly i just want to see their homeworld and more of their race. How they got along after freeza died, if they want to be rid of him again after he is back.
Unfortunately Cooler is mostly visually different from Frieza. The mechanical body of Cooler being able to self repair sort of falls into a techno-organic form of cybernetics more similar to Cell but that is about all I can think of.
Ya know, problably biggest reason blowing up a planet is not a very good thing to try and do is cause.... Apparently, when an enemy is on same level or similar. This is the kind of ultimatum attack that often finds itself rebounding. Aaaand, probably takes a whole lot of energy and charging leaving oneself vulnerable to said rebound.
Cooler really is cooler than Frieza. But much like his brother, so being evil is just the right place for him. But Frieza, *ahem* Lord Frieza, is still a better villain. Cooler is still so freaking cool and I love his first movie to my core.
10:33 What!?! "Hold on, hold on I will explain" *Patiently waits while sharpening knife with malicious intent* All joking aside I think what makes them stick out is that he takes his job seriously and doesn't really play around with his targets (unlike most villains) and will step into the field when his men look like they're being overwhelmed. Honestly I think if it was cooler on namik not Frieza I think the z fighters would've lost
If we do have Cooler become canon he just needs to keep his powered up form because it's super cool and iconic to the character. Just make him less like frieza.
Oh man imagine how great it would be if there was a dragonball super movie where Cooler is not only canon but the supreme ruler of the entire Cold empire as King Cold and Freezer died so he took over. We could get to see how he rules with that cold calm demenour of his and how he deals with Freezer's return following the tournament of power. Imagine a showdown between Cooler's advanced form and Golden Freezer as the two battle for dominance over the universe.
i think cooler is well loved cause he seems like a character who could be reasoned with like frieza is going to do what he wants cooler wont just kill without reason cooler didnt go to avenge frieza he went to prove that yes he was stronger then frieza it was dare i say pride

It'd probably end up being as long as the Zuko video (or maybe even longer), but I'd love to see an alignment video on a character from Succession. Probably Kendall.
Honestly if they revive anymore of the Z movie villains, I wanna see king Piccolo... I mean Lord Slug. Also I'm sure someone has already said it but one thing Cooler has that Frieza doesn't, a mask. I'll go back to my corner now.
It still feels weird to hear the Funi dub cast for the early films. And considering that the commentary for DBZA History of Trunks multiversed on over today as well...
For the revenge against Goku for killing Frieza, I don't think he does it for personal reasons, instead, on principle for killing a member of his family In this instance, Frieza isn't a person to cooler, instead, a sort of honorbound family thing Lawful evil
5:45-I would say Lawful Evil too. If King Cold or any of his family members doesn't said anything about revenge, he would prefer do nothing, or just fight Goku if provoked.
12:58 I actually have an idea for how dragon ball super can basically re-create two characters at the same time. Cooler and Turlus well at the same time redoing the tree of might story: Basically a sect of the Freeza force, once to get rid of Freeza, because his actions, since the tournament of power have not been in the “companies” best interest. So, in secret, they gather some of Freeza and king colds DNA to attempt to create a better version of Freeza. And because the sayings always seem to be a catalyst for the problems with Freeza they decide to do the same thing using Goku and Vegeta‘s DNA. This is how the end of creating Cooler and Turlus. I together with some trickery they’re both able to ambush and incapacitate Freeza believing they kill him. But they realize they can’t do the same thing with the Sayins so in order to become strong enough, they use an item from king colds treasure fault. A Seed from the tree of might, a giant tree that converts the energy of a planet into fruit then when eaten converts your Ki into God Ki. And of course they’re going to plant a tree on earth. Oh, but one of the big things is that of course freeza was not killed and he contacts Goku and Vegeta help. This means that Goku and Vegeta have an enemy in Turlus they can fight and Freeza can fight Cooler (obviously, taking on his super shredder form to fight Freeza) I’d love to hear peoples opinions on the story idea.
I want cooler to return with a backstory of him being betrayed by his brother and King cold. Simple premise for the story is that much like freezer was born a mutant very powerful. which terrified Frieza and his father, interlocking him into a parallel dimension. Which would explain why freezer spend 10 years of training to get the black form. Because not too long after the tournament of power, and the broly movie. The seal to the dimension door that looked cooler away is weakening. Freezer fears that he may not be enough to take on his brother, for he senses that he has became much stronger than he was before.
Still showing my interest in the Lion Guard Video. Also Cooler is one of my favorite DBZ bad guys. I mean his Design does all the work. But damn does it look mean.
11:30 that is the thing i like about him, despite all his positives he lives in his brothers shadow to a point where non of his personality can escape it. his character would be lesser if he was more individualistic.
I feel Cooler's want for revenge is Neutral Evil. It's partly for honor, yes, but also partly concern for himself and wanting to kill the Super Saiyan... if you ask me admittedly.
In all seriousness though, I think the most Cooler has is his designs. There’s a lot of potential in the brother of Freeza, but he's kind of just a lesser copy of Freeza with a bitchin design.
I like cooler because of his maturity his personality comes off as someone who has been doing this a lot longer than his baby brother and because of that he is frankly better at being an evil overlord. Of course his personality is weather either one of them would ever admit it or not Frieza probably picked up a lot from his but he's also the youngest so he's a brat.
Humm a DND alignment video. I wonder what I’m going to comment Is it going to be a request for a yu yu hakusho alignment video no I couldn’t possibly, but if you did do one, I wouldn’t say no I might, in fact, I’d be happy about it
Even if I'm not the biggest dragon ball geek, I feel the series is lacking in calculating villains who are self aware. I think cooler could fill that niche nicely. FInally have some brains to counter goku and vegeta's brawn. Maybe he could become a gohan specific antagonist with both being the cerebral counterpart to their more popular relatives.
When DBS Broly came out I thought the next move would be DBS Cooler. After learning of the fusion technique from Gogeta, Freeza scours the universe for the one being he could possibly use this technique with. The one person Freeza hates almost as much as Goku.
Cooler has a sorta twisted sense of honor more family honor than anything but i notice a few things he went to avenge frezia out family honor instead of "I'm here to avenge my favorite brother" frezia wouldn't do this for cooler because its not in frezia's character to do so cooler also takes goku as a serious theat throughout most of coolers revenge and i think it's implied he is a more hands on villain than frezia in coolers revenge and i get the sense that cooler didn't approve of frezia blowing up planet vegeta probably for practical reason cooler trying to blow up earth makes sense it's the planet his family was disgraced on so honor demands he destroys it i guess he kinda has yakuza honor if you think of the cold family like a yakuza family
ruclips.net/video/ZkMe8dAOD-k/видео.html Can Frieza shoot laser beams out of his eyes? Did Frieza ever learn instant transmission? Can Frieza give off that "no-nonsense boss" energy? Just saying...
Despite the fact that I hate when series take their characters with so much potential and completely wastes them, the reason that I like Cooler is not because of his character potential and wasted deepness. I just think he’s very funny. Like have you heard his yelps whenever he fires a beam? It’s incredibly funny seeing this hulking behemoth go “EEEAAAAAHHH” when shooting a ki blast.

- He recognizes that it's impossible to crush every potential threat before they arise unlike his father and brother so he goes out of his way to train so that he can handle any threat that arises before he ever experiences a loss.
(Super Saiyan Goku beat Cooler because Goku had gotten stronger than he was on Namek by the time of the movie)
Frieza in DB Super would steal his willingness to train, but even then I'd argue its kind of different.
I’ve been waiting the last upload and reupload for this one.
"At least I know... I'm... still.... cooler..."
What kind of Mile stone would have to happen to have a multi video long alignment series on the cast of Friends through every Season
oh god...uhhhhhhhhh
bro...fund my kickstarter and we'll talk, but i'd LOVE TO!
@@TheLoadingCrew Lol, noted
7:10 Cooler plants him a dumbass tree :P
Cooler really is cooler than Frieza. But much like his brother, so being evil is just the right place for him.
But Frieza, *ahem* Lord Frieza, is still a better villain. Cooler is still so freaking cool and I love his first movie to my core.
Love it, but we know what time it is.
Another video, another request for my girl Lina Inverse
i'd love to see the whole slayers gang get the love.
10:33
What!?!
"Hold on, hold on I will explain"
*Patiently waits while sharpening knife with malicious intent*
All joking aside I think what makes them stick out is that he takes his job seriously and doesn't really play around with his targets (unlike most villains) and will step into the field when his men look like they're being overwhelmed.
Honestly I think if it was cooler on namik not Frieza I think the z fighters would've lost
wasnt cooler mentioned in the dragon ball super movie about freezas resurrection? Im pretty sure the henchmen considered resurrecting cooler too
Oh my q video about me in my favorite ttrpg system?
I want to see super cooler as some clone plan of Frieza that backfires. Give us a Frieza movie featuring Goku. Thanks for another vid guys 😄
I guess you can say that one day we will see a COOLER version of Cooler in Super?
Cooler is and will always be my favorite movie villain and I hope he becomes canon.
If we do have Cooler become canon he just needs to keep his powered up form because it's super cool and iconic to the character. Just make him less like frieza.
Ah yes the difference. "He's still dead"
I was hoping you'd mention Vegeta getting kicked in the dick and you did not disappoint. You earned your like today my friends!
Can you please do one of these for the various androids (particularly 17 and 18)?
Kinda interested in how you'd evaluate a tokusatsu villain like Evolt from Kamen Rider Build.
I agree with the notion that we need Cooler to appear.
i think cooler is well loved cause he seems like a character who could be reasoned with like frieza is going to do what he wants cooler wont just kill without reason cooler didnt go to avenge frieza he went to prove that yes he was stronger then frieza it was dare i say pride
Can you do a alignment video on Aaravos from the dragon prince?
Main (?) Villian of the Dragon Prince, but i would wait until S5 dropped, given that he had durring in the Trailers alone, compared to season 4.
@@GODOFAWSOMENESS1Aaravos is one of the villains of a popular Netflix series called “the dragon prince” and (spoiler alert) he is a star touch elf who was trapped in a magic mirror but he’s manipulating two other villains into freeing him
5:31 I agree because freeze as a political leader and killing another nations lead should alway be punished.
What's the D&D alignment of Anders of the Dragon Age series?
Can you do a alignment video on Ainz Ooal Gown and the floor guardian's from Overlord? Please 😄
Actually cooler was mentioned early in the dragon ball super broly movie but not by name so he could be canon
Also the movies in Japan were basically meant to be retellings of the latest Arc of the anime but slightly different
It still feels weird to hear the Funi dub cast for the early films. And considering that the commentary for DBZA History of Trunks multiversed on over today as well...
For the revenge against Goku for killing Frieza,
I don't think he does it for personal reasons, instead, on principle for killing a member of his family
In this instance, Frieza isn't a person to cooler, instead, a sort of honorbound family thing
Lawful evil
5:45-I would say Lawful Evil too. If King Cold or any of his family members doesn't said anything about revenge, he would prefer do nothing, or just fight Goku if provoked.
Hooray it's Cooler!! The coolest look DBZ movie villain.
1 min 17 second into the video for me to realize Cooler is a NAME and this wasn't a "comparing dnd alignments using dragon ball characters" video XD
Hey, nut checking Vegeta is a Lawful good or at least Lawful Neutral act.
Honestly? It would be cool if they went more into him being lawful evil and the resolution of the movie was goku making a deal instead of killing him
12:58
I actually have an idea for how dragon ball super can basically re-create two characters at the same time.
Cooler and Turlus well at the same time redoing the tree of might story:
Basically a sect of the Freeza force, once to get rid of Freeza, because his actions, since the tournament of power have not been in the “companies” best interest.
This means that Goku and Vegeta have an enemy in Turlus they can fight and Freeza can fight Cooler
(obviously, taking on his super shredder form to fight Freeza)
I’d love to hear peoples opinions on the story idea.
Freeza did it!
At 5:41 honestly I think lawful evil makes sense for that.
Can you do an alignment of Spear and Fang from Primal?
In the end Freeza was cooler and Coola was Freeza.
I'd love you to do Everett and the boys from "O Brother Where Art Thou?" just for fun. maybe even try to determine their classes?
Neat back ground music!
if i remember correctly, at some point they stated that cooler himself is canon, while the movie isnt canon
"I'MMA PLANT ME A DUMBASS TREE!"
Still showing my interest in the Lion Guard Video. Also Cooler is one of my favorite DBZ bad guys. I mean his Design does all the work. But damn does it look mean.
Well revenge by itself is neutral. It really depends on the circumstance and methods in which you do it
His sexy shade of amethyst purple
- DevilArtemis
11:30 that is the thing i like about him, despite all his positives he lives in his brothers shadow to a point where non of his personality can escape it.
his character would be lesser if he was more individualistic.
I feel Cooler's want for revenge is Neutral Evil. It's partly for honor, yes, but also partly concern for himself and wanting to kill the Super Saiyan... if you ask me admittedly.
COOLA! COOLA! FREEZA NO BROTHA!
I wonder what I’m going to comment
Is it going to be a request for a yu yu hakusho alignment video no I couldn’t possibly, but if you did do one, I wouldn’t say no I might, in fact, I’d be happy about it
I would like to see you guys do an D&D Alignments video on All For One or Shigaraki Tomura from My Hero Academia
If you're taking suggestions, I'd recommend Final Fantasy 16 if you played it. You can do an alignment on all the Dominants.
1:13 I’m going to say this but that’s a dub thing, in the sub he refers his default form as his 4th form and his final form is technically a 5th form.
Ok so I agree with you but Cooler still looks cooler then Freeza
have you considered doing NSR? I feel its short enough of a game that you could do an all characters alignment episode on it!!
When DBS Broly came out I thought the next move would be DBS Cooler. After learning of the fusion technique from Gogeta, Freeza scours the universe for the one being he could possibly use this technique with. The one person Freeza hates almost as much as Goku.
Frieza did it
A dnd alignment for bayverse optimus prime would be awesome
It’s incredibly funny seeing this hulking behemoth go “EEEAAAAAHHH” when shooting a ki blast.
just cuz existing 5e cooking mechanics are not dedicated or complicated does not stop them from already existing
So you're saying...
You hope that Dragon Ball Super makes Cooler... cooler?
Ba dum tish!
