    Analog Stick Drift - Will Cleaning Fix It? I'm trying out BW-100 on a bunch of malfunctioning analog sticks to see if cleaning alone will fix them. Some of the analog sticks it definitely does fix but others are just too worn out and need replacements to get them working.

    Both the Xbox family and the PS4 and PS5 controllers are using the same mass produced model for analog sticks, which are not as tight as past models as I almost never have problems with drifts with the Game Cube or the PS2 and PS3 controllers, which tells me that they were more tightly assembled or had smaller pieces as larger pieces tend to get dusty and that dust with humidity turns into a sticky substance that causes drift.

    Please allow me to leave another very important comment that this is temporary. After all, clearly everyone expected cleaning something once to stop it from ever getting dirty again in the future! I mean, we all clean our homes and after we do it once, they stay clean forever, right? I washed my car once and even after driving through more snowy, salted roads, it's still perfectly clean, no need to wash it ever again! 🙄
    Of course cleaning is temporary. Of course they can get dirty again. And of course mechanical wear will still happen and break it to the point of needing a new potentiometer. Nobody thought cleaning was a permanent fix, so enough with the stupid "this is temporary!" comments already. You aren't imparting any useful information.

    Unless your going to buy a new PlayStation controller every few months, analog stick drift is just part of the experience. I always keep one new controller around for games that require precise analog and keep the janky ones for games that can run fine with it.

  • @PastaWaffleGaming
    @PastaWaffleGaming 3 года назад +4

    With the ps4 controller,I have that exact same model and color and the right stick drifts a lot. I haven't used that cleaner, but using ipa DOES work for a little while. I get maybe 2-3 hours of drift free play before it comes right back in the same fashion before I have to re do the cleaning. @TronicsFix - you should use these controllers for a week each them make a follow up video to see if the repair is lasting or temporary... I don't think this one video is definitive about cleaning products "repairing" physical defects...

    • @Tronicsfix

    I replaced the analog stick on one of my Valve Index vr controllers. They basically all fail in the same way eventually and the repair is to solder on a new analog stick part. Since they are sold as a pair for $300 a set I think there's probably a lot of money to be had in repairing them as a service and buying and refurbishing them.
