    Pay attention to Steve's hands, guys, on technique 1. He's only playing 3 note shell chords. But he didn't lift the "extra finger". Why? That other finger is muting unplayed strings.
    Yes, Steve talked about it, but I cannot emphasize it enough.

    I love how you teach something as basic as muting, but with examples with complex chords and time signatures, implying there's enough people who know their complex stuff but not the basics.. which is true.

    Not sure if you’ll post a vid like this but, Mark Holcomb from Periphery always use these very cool mathrock/ j rock sounding chord progressions in their songs (Ex: Wax Wings) is there any chance you can make a vid on some of those type of chord qualities?!

    Is there any genre that doesn't require muting??

    • @sroofikaden2355
      @sroofikaden2355 3 месяца назад +2

      Definitely not, muting is an essential guitar technique but if you don’t do it well when playing math rock it is extremely apparent. I have taught a good amount of people who don’t catch the fact that they don’t mute when playing most other genres

      noise rock?

    • @Borahkreth
      @Borahkreth 3 месяца назад

      Well, if you're self taught and only look up tabs... like my dumb ass... yeah, you could have overlooked that critical aspect for basically your whole life (i'm talking about muting unplayed strings with a part of yours fingers or unused fingers, not releasing chords)
