The manga I never thought I would like would be BATTLE ANGLE: Alita. I’ve never really been into Sci-fi at all but I got the deluxe edition because someone I know said it was amazing and the art/books themselves look beautiful so I thought I would give it ago. Lo and behold the art, story and world building were amazing. I recently finished all the volumes and all I can say is that I wish I could’ve read it sooner. I’ve started looking into other Sci-fi mangas such as ‘ghost in a shell’. All in all, I don’t think all ever brush off another whole genre again.
Great way to go about this! I also have brushed off genres like shojo/love ect in the past and got blasted with "my love story" One of the best for sure! So I get how ya feel and I try now to not brush them off!
Just started manga collecting 2 weeks ago. Picked up off Reddit battle angel alita 1-6 for only 30$ I am excited to try it! Especially getting a complete set for 30$ is more comforting than spending 200 for a complete set

This manga I never thought I'd like was Mao🤣I was never an Inuyasha fan but I gave this author's other works a try and I love it!
Yeah some of her works are not great. They are okay but nothing special. My wife like Mao a lot too!

A manga I thought I wouldn't like but gave a try anyway was Hell's Paradise! After reading it, it is now one of my favorites! ❤
Sweat and soap was definitely the one for me was very adamant i wouldn’t enjoy it but actually ended up liking it ☺️
I always thought I would not like Junji Ito manga besides Uzumaki, but I was terribly wrong. I read Tomie last year and went on a complete Ito streak after that. I got hooked 😂
I thought I was never going to like Everyone's getting marred. I owned the 1st volume for a few years and finally read it and enjoyed it a lot.
The Flowers of Evil - I gave it a chance, thinking it would be some mediocre romance story, but it completely subverted my expectations.
It would definitely be Sweat and Soap, whenever i saw it in store the cover was so sus i was like what the heck is that and judged it so hard. Then years later after the series was all out in english i tried it and it was my favourite manga of that year!

FOTNS is great! I say it every haul I have one in. idk if you are in the US but they go for around 14 a piece so thats not too bad for a hardcover!
literally a few weeks ago i told my fiancée that the only sports manga i would NEVER read despite the hype was blue lock because there is something so off-putting to me about soccer (don’t come at me), but then i saw it in a bookstore and started reading and absolutely HATED that i got so goddamn invested and actually really enjoyed the art!!
I feel this cause thats almost exactly how I felt when I first saw Blue Lock LOLOL Glad you like it!
The manga I thought I would never read is BEASTARS!!! I was so influenced by the hate I didn’t read it for years… so I picked it up one day cause I was bored and I ended up absolutely LOVING IT!! Def one of my favs 🤭
I just started reading and collecting manga 2-3 weeks ago. Vagabond kicked it all off. As for as my small collection goes, a manga I didn’t think I’d enjoy too much but have, is kaiji! It just looked goofy, I mean kaiji looks a lil goofy haha, but to my surprised it’s really damn good and I have enjoyed it so far
I didn't think I would like something like Smile Down the Runway. Then I binged it all in a weekend. It's a pretty light read on a topic i probably would never check out, that isnt too deep.
I wasn’t never a big sports fan, but I gave Blue Lock a try and now I am hooked. I’m really enjoying Blue Lock Episode Nagi as well. Can’t wait for the movie.

The manga that I thought I will never like was Pandora Hearts, I remember watching anime back in the high school and didn't think highly of what I've seen before I dropped it for reasons I don't even remember right now, so I didn't pick up manga until The Case Study of Vanitas got an anime and I got courious about mangaka previous works. Now Pandora Hearts is in my Top-3 favourite manga of all time, incredible series I recommend to anyone.
I haven’t always been a big manga romance person but when I read sweat and soap it had me trying out all sorts of new series! The name had always been weird to me but I gave it a go and ended up reading all 11 volumes at once haha! I Really enjoyed it, love the videos as always!

At first, when I started reading mangas,the first manga I've collected was tomodachi game, I really liked the genre, I was reading it before it became popular,so when I finished reading the manga, my friends recommended me classroom of the elite,after that conversation, a few weeks passed, and boom, tomodachi game got a anime adaptation, after the first season was animated, people started making edits like 'yuichi or aynokoji who's smarter" like that,I kinda hated the classroom of the elite's fandom after that and swore to never read or watch the manga, but my friends kept insisting, so I finally gave it a shot, and I really liked it, so yeah, that's my story
Blue Lock was probably a manga that really surprised me.I was never into football ( soccer ) in general and kinda just tried out blue lock because of the hype it was getting because of the anime.But after reading it, the art work and uniqueness really blew me away to the point that I tried to do some of the skills in real life 😅.

Awesome Haul! Dorohedoro is something I want to get into as well. I’m kind of new to collecting so there currently isn’t a manga that I said I will never read and ended up reading. But I did tell myself I wasn’t going to read Tokyo Ghoul because I watched it. Have been reading that and it’s amazing!

the drifting classroom was certainly a manga that i just wasn't interested in until i read it and now i'm collecting it all. its just one of those manga's where you are so excited to pull the page and see what's next🤣

Honest answer, there isn’t a manga I thought I wouldn’t like then read and liked. If I don’t think I’d like it, I wouldn’t want to waste the time or money trying it. There have been a ton of others, where I thought I would like it but didn’t like.
Loved the stream. My favorite manga that I wish people got into is DRCL Midnight Children. It's an interesting interpretation of the book Bram Stocker's Dracula

I got a jojos book friday the first part and vol 1 I have been waiting for ever I'm glad I finally got it after searching for a while
It's not a manga but a manwha. I really didn't wanted to read Solo Leveling. Jeez I felt really weird about scrolling reading. But finally I gave it a chance and it became one of my favourites!
I have just started my manga collection (only have 3 series complete/up to date) so I am getting all the series I think I would like now we will see in the future if there is a series I didn't think to like I actually really do end up liking

One Punch Man for sure. Thought it was a stupid concept that would never work, but somehow I’m 28 volumes in and it still lands every time.

Bakuman is fantastic!!! A series that I thought I wouldn’t like but was completely wrong about was Tramps Like Us (Kimi Wa Petto). The English title is very misleading but once you start you’re gifted with a fun josei series.

Manga I thought I wouldn't like is SILVER SPOON. I have always only read shonen action but thought I'd try something new, it's now one of my favourite series
oh man SS is good!! From writing Full metal Alchemist and to silver spoon that lady can write!
Attack on titan was a series I thought I’d hate. Just based on how popular it was. But I tried it and really enjoyed it. Not my favorite of all time. But one of the greats.
Sachi-iro no One Room was a manga I never thought I'd read just because the synopsis didn't interest me, but I did and I loved it.
Never heard of that one I think. Just goes to show some writing can be great and pull you in!
I thought that i wouldnt like kaguya sama Love is war, but my friend was adamant about me trying it out, i ended up loving it, good series
I've watched but never read, Seraph of the End. I really enjoyed what I'd seen so far, it has a similar vibe to Blue Exorcist but darker.

Weakest Tamer... is an adorable manga and has a somewhat similar vibe to Apothecary Diaries and Ascendency Of A Bookworm. It's a trash-isekai where a woman is the protagonist reborn as a child with some blessings from "God". I won't tell you what talent, if you can't figure it out... :P This manga is a lot like Fluffy Paradise but I feel the character design is even better and the overall plot is better...and Fluffy Paradise is not bad either, for context.
Okay worth the try then! I grabbed it knowing it would be some kind of slice of life chill cute etc type of thing haha
I'm not big into mystery, but Erased was amazing and opened my mind up to try other genres. Any genre can be great if it's done well.
Wonderful series I agree and what a great way to open you up to trying more mystery stuff! I did like his other work "For the Kid I Saw in My Dreams" Its also in the mystery spectrum!
I was never going to get into blame! until my friend promised that if i read blame! he will read one of the series i recommend him ( slam dunk ). I ended up loving blame!

I was recommended The Boxer by JH. I wasn't sure because I don't like boxing. I LOVED it! It is in my top 20 favs.
I also dont care about boxing but tried it and man its getting real good! If you have not def try his 3 volume other work "the horizon" BUT hold on for your life cause its emotional haha
I'll say, it's Goodnight Punpun for me. Tried reading it a few years ago when I was still new to manga, and dropped it like 15 chapters in.
Then years pass, I give it another shot since I've changed the way I approach reading manga from then ... and it was actually pretty good. I mean it was depressing for sure, but I enjoyed it

Never thought that I would like The Eminence in Shadow, but now I soo wanted to watch and buy it

i started watching the blue lock anime and this was so good that i kept going to the manga i didnt read manga before anime only but i was so curious i played football from young age, and i just devour the manga, until today im up to date with the manga, and let me tell you something now blue lock is better than ever 😊

I was originally very hesitant to try One Piece or even get into it or that I would like it,then Covid hit, being out of work for weeks with nothing to do I gave it a try and been a fan ever since

No. I don’t think I’ve ever been hesitant to start a manga. I’m usually open to them all. I will say a manga that disappointed me was Tokyo Revengers. Stopped reading after a certain point.
For me it was MHA since when I started out I was a bit scared of the fan base but when I started it went all the way to my top ten
oooofffffff dont listen to fan bases LOL jkjk a lot of the time when your looking at fans or anit fans they are just over the top and you need to make your own decision. Glad your liking MHA
For me it was Pokemon adventures as I wasn’t that into Pokemon growing up

Hiya, for the manga that i thought i would not like but i did is Erased . I literally judged it by its cover. There's just so much manga and so many options so generally when i pick one up i kindda know what im getting myself in for like "oh that's a romance or oh that a new shonen " . Erased didnt give much away with the cover just being all white with a kid in the snow so i thought it'll be just a sad story and i had other things i was more interested in at the time . I was browsing through my anime recommendations under the psychological category when Erased popped up again. I figured I'd try 1 episode , loved it , went on to read the manga , the anime and even watched the live adaptation.
It is overwhelming with manga choices for sure. Erased manga is great! IDK why the made some rando ending for the anime but I am glad you like it!
I didnt think i would ever get into berserk because the volumes are so big and expensive.... but now i have every volume of the deluxe edition 😂

Hopefully you like it. This series changed my entire outlook on how manga is made and how to judge manga. The fact that this duo does stuff like Death Note, Platinum End and Bakuman where they have the entire story and all of the arcs planned out including the ending is a supreme level of manga crafting. Some works turn out better than others but as a method, it is more about mangaka craft and less about paying rent and bills.

The manga i thought i would never like was JoJo, it seemed a bit weird to me at first but now it's one of my favorite!

Weakest Tamer is really cute! Maybe the isekai element is stronger in the original light novel, but it's barely present in the manga: mostly it's just a cute slice-of-life light fantasy with the adorable little initially-mistreated protagonist going out into the world and doing adventuring stuff and making friends. I am never gonna advertise it as the best ever, but the art is charming and something about it is so cozy I'm always delighted to read a new volume.

Never thought I would like One Piece because it was “too long” but in fact this show saved me from my depression of moving to a different state. One Piece helped me like nothing ever has and probably nothing else ever will…
Its a long series for sure but my gosh every volume slaps. If it had crap writing or story you would see people dropping it all over the place. Glad OP helped you and you cherish it like we do!

Definitely was future diary i wasnt too interested at first it seemed generic till i got past the second volume then it got interesting before i knew it...i was dumb founded and sold. Great story and interesting read.

I never would have thought I would like was promise neverland. I went into the series watching the anime, and you know s2 was atrocious, so instead, I went and finished the series by reading the manga and loved it !

I never thought I'd read sports manga as I'm not super into sports and thought all sports manga had characters with special power moves which I thought was kind of dumb. But then I gave Cross Game a chance, a baseball manga, and it became one of my all time favorites. No special moves, just good old fashion hard work and team work.

Bakemonogatari with art by oh great. The show is known for its unique cinematography, and amazing vibe, so never thought i would enjoy the manga even more, but the paneling is incredible, nearly as good as berserk, so creative and well done. If you enjoy the show, you wont regret it. This coming from a guy who found the ecchi aspects the least appealing part of monogatari.
There is a reason that the manga for most things are better than the animes. The way the mangakas lay things out and you get all the extra details etc are great!

Just started my Manga collecting journey, that being said I only own about 6 volumes. Out of those the only one I was iffy about was Spy x Family. Turned out to be good after volume 1.

I was not into collecting manga ever since however it change when I watched Boruto September last year, when I ended watching the anime I found myself checking out the the manga. From checking out Boruto Naruto Next Generations manga to currently owning 200+ manga and counting, I could say that manga collecting is my happiness and the cause of my budget's demise 😂

Whenever I read manga, once I’m done the front cover always like kinda sticks up and doesn’t stay flat. Is there a way to prevent this?😅
Just flatten it with some weight of put it on the shelf inbetween books and it will flatten back over time

I never expected i would read demon slayer, when season 1 launched of the anime i really hated the pacing so i started hating on the series. but with everyone non stop talking about how much they loved i decided you know what i should give it a second try but because i really hated the anime pacing i decided to read the manga. Currently at volume 8 and im actually enjoying it. the pacing is so much better and the story is really picking up. Never guessed that would happen.

I was never going to get into manga until my brother gave me onepiece and it sat on my table for 7 months someone told me that oda is better than Tolkien at stores telling and I was going to provide them wrong 1k+ chapters later I'm still trying to do that!

For hellsing you need to watch the anime. The 10 hellsing ultimates. You will like it more than the manga 10000% SO I love hellsing and so do many many others and I will tell ya straight up its 95% not from the manga haha.
