Exercise can lower blood pressure. So can petting a silly dog. I think that the dog offers greater health benefits.
Dogs want nothing to do with our workouts. As soon as we get on the ground....it's play time. Just want to play ball!

My Poodle was about half of Bennys size but he was just like him when anyone tried to work out. No chance of doing anything except cuddling.
He has his fan on to keep you comfortable.
