- You've seen the creepy video. You read all about it on Vice and Cracked. Now witness the insanity in detail.
Some observations:
*Every single building was marked as historic. EVERY SINGLE ONE.
*There are no traffic in the subway lines or stations.
*There are no schools, hospitals and fire stations whatsoever .
*There are no skyscrapers. In fact, most of the commercial buildings are parking decks.
*When an earthquake hits Magnasanti, the results aren't pretty.

For those wondering how large Magnasanti is, each tile is about 4096 square meters (or 64 meters on each side). The largest possible city you can build has 256 X 256 tiles. In turn, the largest city you can build has an area of around 100 square miles.

Here's our jailhouse where we have precisely zero inmates just like the other 3000 jailhouses in the city. it makes the citizens feel safe until their 50th birthday at which point they will be recycled for organic materials

This is our historical parking lot where John Smith himself once parked his car. Ah, yes. This is our historical parking lot where Stacy Green once parked her car. Oh this? This is our historical apartment building where Mark Stewart once took a shower.
So all the libraries are grade F. They are all shit. They each have only two books and a bit of moldy bread. But it's okay, because the city has so many libraries that collectively, they have every book. I'd say this is a winning system.

+TheNobleGoon I assume you're refering to the lack of fire staions. Well they also are illiterate and don't need hospitals either. I can't see how this is considered to beat the game, unless there's a glitch. Maybe some one should try it as a reality show.

At 8:24, you see that small gap between the houses caused from the earthquake? I bet that land value just skyrocketed, for being somewhere you can live with space between the houses, and an actual view xD

Eerily bizarre. Though, I think it's stunning to see what can be built with the game.
To all the people saying how this is winning a game. I would concider he has beaten the game because that is just so insanely impressive what he has done. A vitrual reality city dosen't need to be just like a real life city.

This has got to be the best game ever, I remember blowing 10+ hours a day playing this game. Nothing like it nowadays.

When I loaded the city it got abandoned after a few years. I don't know what old version this city uses, but normally, industrial zones can never use subways when attempting trips to R + C. The reverse is possibnle. But the train-to-sub stations in this map caused Ind zones to fail all their outgoing trips, which closed them down, which threw R demand out of whack, which caused massive zone abandonment of all three types. Can't make a roadless city in SC3k Unlimited.
tristanlist probably made the roads, then deleted them. Or did it in the base game, then loaded it in unlimited, then quickly optimized it.

No stack 1000 of those cities up another and you get your typical hive city.

i want to try to build a police controlled city.. before i lost my city life deluxe disc, i used to love building cities but hospitals and schools were absurdly expensive.

Parking lots are considered to be commercial buildings. So yes, it occurred automatically.

There are no roads
How long did it take to make everything historical?! That's the worst part!
84000 sec per day, 50000 years in simcity, aproximally 2 day each seconds. routly 3 month of costant play 24/24
this probably took ages, it took me like 20 hours to get 1mil sims on a shit map with no planning
the base version is already eerie. with the asian theme is right down cyberpunk

Search for MAGNASANTI - 6 MILLION - ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM. That's the closest thing to a guide on how to build this city.
to me it seems like he copy and pasted sections of his city and then made everything historical so it couldn't change
I don't get how this is a "perfect" city, everyone is stupid, wretched, and one guy can destroy it with a sparkler.... sounds like a crappy city to me. Doesn't help that it's also COMPLETELY reliant on it's neighbors.
It's perfectly optimized for maximum population.
Perfect from a gameplay perspective. This is the ultimate min max.
Of course its not perfect from an actual human being perspective. That's really the point of this exercise, its basically showing how all systems used in games like Sim City are pretty broken, we just don't realize it because most of don't have the energy to spend 3 years figuring out how to break them.

What does it mean if a building is historic?
It can't be torn down by the game to make newer buildings in favor of demand, so the building stays there forever, unless a tornado hits it or something.

How can you build a city with no fire station taxes so high have 6 million people in there

Net income is tremendous, unemployment is nearly non-existent, everywhere has running water, transportation is cheap and effective, everybody has a home, and Magnasantians brag their ancient history and heritage. What's the big deal?
Next shuttle to: Uranus
a few thoughts:
1. Why subway to rail connections instead of just subway stations?
2. You might be able to cram in more people if you a. increased land value with a few fountains (the luxuryt buildings hold a bit more) or added some hospitals (longer lifespan means more people alive at the same time). You'd be trading housing space for potentially higher density, I don't know the math but I think it could work.

+Sinep Anigav Even if your education budget is 0, and your library system has a grade of "F". Got it.
+Sara Novak as others have pointed out, libraries raise population cap. In fact all government buildings do. You can see it when you're building a city for the first time. If you have roads and place parks, schools, colleges etc. you can see more Sims appearing on the side walks of the roads.

If there are no schools, or hospitals, or firestations, why would the city "survive" ? I mean, this city was said to have "beaten" the game, but I don't see how you can thrive withot education and health care. Actually, come to think of it America's not doing so bad.
I just read an interview by the guy, and the city is basically a police state, so I wasn't far of with the USA reference.
