Me too lol but I was a kid back then and just liked looking at all the little Sims. As an adult, it's alot easier to understand. You just have to think in practical terms. For example, farms are key to the early game, because they account for industrial zoning and produce practically no pollution. So they are perfect for maintaining high land value/aura. The hard part is actually building them. They are very picky. They have to be either 9x9 or 8x8, only built on one side of the street, low land value and unwatered. Also helps to enact the Farmers Market ordinance. I have a city right now with about 15 farms or so with the city itself built along a river. Which also encourages high land value, because rivers and elevation increase land value (just like real life). You basically just have to play smart. Think of what would be ideal in real life. I wish it was easier to encourage high-tech industry though.
Great game. But lol, if this intro wasn't the definition of a lie. Not just the 3-d. But no four lane roads, curving roads or rails and the rail lines had two sets.
I love how we were able to customize the terrain prior to building out city. I made the most unrealistic setting; a square river, separating industry on the outside of the square and everything else on the inside. And then building all sorts of pollution generating buildings on the corners of the map so 3/4 of the pollution goes to your neighbours lol.
If I remember properly, Unlimited adds an extra disaster or two (including the whirlpool), lets you make your city have more asian or european-styled architecture and lets you change the colour of the terrain and the trees so you can have a city in the snow or the desert. I think there are also a few more scenarios and pre-made cities.
Again why I prefer this version to the original version of this game - more hardcore. Gangsta. To the extremes. UPN/Warner Bros./WB shit, deadazz. I had this fucking version as a kid, son! WORD!
Great Memories of Times past by. I had this Gane once still Love the Intro sequence tho. I was so happy when 3000 unlimited came out and it just made my day!
unlimited compared to regular has 3 styles of buildings to choose from (North America, Europe, and Asia) -- there are also scenarios, building tool kits, scenario creator, and more.
Well, that one really tiny rock DID bounce off it!! I wish they would make a SimCity that really looked like this. That would be badass. Also, the Space Junk disaster was the best disaster ever made. Not only was it random and unpredictable, but extremely LONG, and you basically just had to sit there while your city gets blasted to hell for like FIVE MINUTES.
I remember booting this game up after Sim City 3000 came out a very long time ago. It was something of nostalgia to see the new Unlimited version and its bonuses and perks. Unlimited introduced me to farms; which blew my mind as a kid because Sim City 3000 didn't have farms; the new one did and I was blown away by it. So I had a blast going around and building small towns with farms and the like. I was usually unhappy though when my light industry tiles (how I got farms then) turned into full blown factories instead of farms and made my towns look ugly. I don't know if they have farms as a separate tile now; but man I was never so excited to have farms as I was then.
forced my family to buy a whole new computer just so I could play this game when I was a kid wayyy back at the turn of the century. and here i am 10 odd years later cranking it again. such a good game.
Comment two spaces under mine: Unlimited view is from the air in Unlimited too. The reason you can't get street view is because the real creators of the game made the video and they made a close up animation so you can see what happens in-game. You can also have a better view of things, so that is another reason. But maybe if they make a SimCity 5 there might be street view.
this was of a generation for games where there wasn't the technology to make super high quality games like they make now, so the problem now is that companies focus too much on making the games as pretty looking as they can instead of making the gameplay more fun.... i would rather have an 8-bit game that is fun as hell over any super HQ games that are "3 years in development" cause quality of picture docent make a game good. quality of gameplay and user experience makes a game good.
all the elements in this film never appears in Sim City 3000 but what the hell, it's a game accompanying with me in my child age, this game brings me back my childhood
After looking at this vid, I went to get my disc. Put it in my PC and found out it was as damaged as hell D: Used to be a good game. Played it with my dad on my 95. I miss the good days.
It's funny, people saw this intro and knew perfectly well that t was in no way representative of gameplay and they had no problem with it. yet today we have the new Simcity where people bitch and moan about anything that isn't perfectly representative of the gameplay.
yeah there's like a "Sim City 3D." it's called "Cities XL." but the thing about Cities XL is that you can't destroy your cities. when i played sim city 3000 and sim city 4 (i still play it) i usually destroyed my cities xD but what i really hope for if they ever make another sim city or something similar is i hope they make it able to let us make every city we make have their own "personalities." in sim city 4, i always felt that each city was the same.
or for custom music. While you ahve simcity running. Exit out by pressing crtl alt delete, find your music player (iTunes is what i use) play the song, and comeback into the game. (Be sure to turn the game's music all the way down, otherwise it will sound really.... yeah)
the difference is new cities, buildings, activities, BAT, and the choice for your city to look like North American, Asian, or European. in the old SC3K it was automatically North American and didn't have any of that stuff
no way simcity 3k unlimited is awesome. this intro wasn't made to make u think it actually looks that cool. it was made to show u the new building sets.
Technically, Societies and Creator are expansion packs and therefore are not the next version of the game, there just an improved version of the current game.
Great game, my only objection to SimCity 3000 Unlimited though was the absence of the tune "Sim Broadway" from the game. That was the best damn tune in the original SC3k!
@Games5522 well i was refering to the mmmm properties, in sc3000 the elevation determines the kind of tree you will get, at an high elevation the dirt will change from green to brown or even white in the highest elevations, in s4 while the terraforming tool is good, the maps are extremely small so you might not use the terraforming tool if you really want a big city, i also didnt liked the region/cities system, if one city is challenging enough to develop, 20 cities more....
This is the best intro for Simcity games. The original Simcity 3000 was meh... the 2000 Specia Edition I forgot, and Number 4 was ehhh.... Societies was decent intro, not as fun gameplay. :P
in 1999? no, nobody got tricked by the intro graphics. I was a kid then and even i knew graphics this "good" weren't possible at the time. but the game was very good.
Actually they have released versions on Simcity on other consoles. SNES, GBA, Wii, DS, PS1, mobile, probably a few others I can't quite think of right now.
I loved this game but I don’t get why they made it a separate game instead of an expansion or if it was meant to expand on 3000, why they didn’t just finish this and release only this?
@SuperMrBentley i love both 3 and 4. I think 3 is more realistic than 4, because in 3 if you run out of water or raise the tax and you don’t realise it then sims leave the city and your loos making cash. This, doesn’t happen in sim 4. looking forward to Sim 5 which is going to be released next year.
I loved this game alot, at first i had alot of difficulties making my towns to cities but then i got over that and i made metropolitans XD it was fun until SC4 came by and made it way more challaging there i still cant make metro cities there but this brings back memories :3
@cancerman50 sc3000 unlimited is the same interface wise. However, there are tons of differences. You can choose the type of building architecture, the type of landscape, and the type of trees. There's also tons more landmark options and there's no 10 landmark limit per city. There's also more disaster options like plague of locust and meteors. there's some new musical tracks [though a few are also missing] and you can turn disasters and auto budget off. There's more. But I don't remember.
23 years later, this is still probably my favorite game of all time
My favorite of all. It has the right mixture of complexibility/simplicity of all Sim City games.
When I was young I would take out a $250,000 loan and build the city of my dreams. One year later tho, Mortimer Green would sack me.
Same lol. Both in this and SimCity 4 I would always take out loans and then wonder why I kept losing money so quickly.
oungod same bruh
I'm a new player of SimCity 3000 and I'm glad to have been able to experience this gem after 20+ years.
Thank you GOG. Now after almost 10 years, I can finally play this game again.
It's sad to say that gog doesn't have gift cards I hope they do.
@@Caim6311 the game is 2$ right now.
I miss old EA

Damn, memories. I was always so bad at this game.
teapotwar well mate I still am bad at it lol 😀
My cousin played this with me recently. He has a degree in architecture city planning and development. He sucked at it anyway 😀
I aced Sim City 2000, so 3000 wasn't difficult to me. But there is alot to it. I doubt anyone would have the patience to learn it anymore.

The intro was a movie nothing more
@@robjackson5245 Four lane roads exists, you just lay another road next to each other, it will automatically form into 4 lane roads.
@@yohannessulistyo4025 I know. I played the game haha
Rob Jackson Yes, thank you, I played the game…
Yohannes Sulistyo They’re just two two lane roads with opposing lanes side by side, though. Not anything like a real four lane road.
I love how we were able to customize the terrain prior to building out city.

What a classic gem from the 90's and early 2000's.
To me, this is my favorite intro for the simcity series. Brings back so many memories :(
I use to play for hours each day........

Ah, this takes me back.
BEST intro ever.

3000 disasters were the best. Not overpowered, but not under powered. They were also unpredictable with he path.
unlimited was released in the 2000-2001 range. you can still find copies on amazon and ebay etc.

Anyone watched the part at 0:37 as a kid and was like "this reminds me of that terrible tragedy in New York"?
i second that , friend. you ran out of money as soon as you built the bare essentials. u really need to be exceptionally good just to do okay.
It's strange that this game was made in 2000 (10 years ago) The graphics are pretty nice.
Those sims's models are actually reused in the The Sims 1 game.

this game should have a game type where u get to build an army and a city and take over neighbouring cities and defend against them.

hahaha i remember when i use to play this i was really bad i just made anything my towns would look so wierd now i can make huge cities with sc4.
