Dear Madam Teacher Anna, massive thank You for this long and useful lesson!Interesting Idiom which desribes me,could be - a lone wolf, becouse I live in bachelors apartment(flat) alone.Thank You again.
I beg your pardon, It is 17.04, in English language or in THE English language? I had been taught IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE or IN ENGLISH, so I m teatching now. Anna is marvelous as usual.
i am listening to your videos in hopes that it fixes my american accent lol. ive been born, raised and still live in england, but somehow i have an american accent??? idk its wild but your videos are also very interesting so
Long time no see is historically Chinglish formed by a "word for word" translation from Chinese and it was spoken by some Chinese who did not know their grammar well. It's fun to see this phrase is now used by native English speakers. Haha.
I once heard someone say that the Arctic char is a very forgiving fish to cook. What does that even mean? Then i googled it and there was the salmon that has oils and is forgiving too? What does that mean though?
Generally if you are talking about a word you would say. 'A synonym for big is large'. If you were talking about something in the world like an event/place/person you can say 'Elvis Presley was synonymous with Rock n Roll'. 'Synonymous' is used generally when talking about two things that are connected in popular thought. Like Ferrari and fast cars or area 51 and aliens.
I doubt any non-English speaker knows what an idiom is. They barely know what a noun is. I doubt 99% of native English speakers know what an "idiom" is! I wonder if there is a better term.
It's not easy to download the PDF without jumping through a bunch of hoops. It really isn't free if I have to agree to share info or sign up for apps I don't want. If you really want it to be a gift, make your PDF of idioms an easy download.
