Alex Casey is basically remedy’s version of max Payne even though they worked on max Payne since the beginning but then sold the rights to the character to rockstar games so they can’t use his character due to copyright. So now they have a character who is basically Max Payne but with a different name and job. Max Payne was in the DEA and Alex Casey is FBI. So basically to sum it all up imagine Max Payne with a different name and job and you got Alex Casey. In Alan Wake there is a Alex Casey novel that says “The fall of Alex Casey” which is an obvious reference to Max Payne 2 The fall of Max Payne.
@@NeonZXK4472all true and perfectly stated, but to make a short update to your comment - Tim Breaker at some point in Alan Wake 2 states more or less that the whole thing is actually a multiverse cause he had dreamed himself as many different variants, in different worlds. So basically Alex Casey could be a variant to Max Payne. The same guy, in a parallel dimension!

@@NeonZXK4472you forgot to mention that Alex Casey was Payne's early in-development name to the point there's Casey beer in-game.
Also that Dylan literally mentioned parallel worlds - one where a writer made a book about a cop, and another one, where the cop was real.
Going back to this after Alan Wake 2 really shows how well Ikka and Matthew's acting/dubbing tag team has gotten!
Also Remedy being able to afford an actual set instead of the rather shoddy greenscreen they’re using here.

All of the live action sequences in the first game looked so endearingly low budget, and with the sequel, you got the Yotton Yo sequence, which is a 20 minute long beautiful short film which is night and day compared to anything from the first game!
I love how all the live action stuff in the newer games (Control and AW2) still feel incredibly campy, but I do admittedly kinda miss the shitty ADR. It just added so much to the charm, especially the night springs episodes.

Here I was sitting in front of a TV, watching a reality TV show like some dork who has nothing to do with his life but to shoot and drink and take painkillers all day. I see three men talking about some book until I saw something that looked oddly...familiar. Something that made me remember. And I did. It was ‘the smile of the victor’.
It’s like looking in a mirror. It felt like that I was connected to this strange man, it felt like that my face was surgically removed and placed to another.
It’s a small world as they say these days. But in this case, it’s getting even smaller.

There is something so endearingly funny about this. Like, the lip sync wavers in quality/tone and the shot continuity is a touch wacky, but that’s still a lot of work for such a small detail in the game. Combined with the book, Sam and Poets of the Fallen cameos, and the genuinely interesting acting and voice work, it’s just so very delightful.
After having played this game years ago, Bear Control 2 years ago, and just beat Alan Wake 2 - I HAD NO IDEA till a few days ago that Alan Wake isn’t voiced by that actor - the lip sync is off because those are probably all Finnish residents, and the voices are probably from Americans.
To the people who were asking about the video being out of sync, this was actually filmed using Finnish actors whose voices were later dubbed over by American voice actors, so the audio isn't out of sync, it's just dubbed. :B
so THAT explains why ALL the shows seemed out of sync. I was so confused about that.

ZombryaTheDark No sorry it's just a PC/xbox exclusive, but if you ask me the ps4 has got even better games this year than that. You get the last guardian, no mans sky, uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn etc.

I love how Alan Wake wrote the story of Max Payne but its called The Sudden Stop in the game. They even made the cover art on the book the same style and quotes from the book are voiced by the same actor. I buy Remedy games because they have the "Remedy Connected Universe" and each game is like a continuation of the previous one.
Kinda sad they don't have the IP. Max Payne 3 was excellent but it wasn't really in the same vein as the original two games. And considering all the crap Take Two has been pulling lately, I don't even know if I WANT Rockstar to return to Max Payne.
This was just a prototype and concept for In Between with Mr. Door -show. Who knew? So true..

Just saw this for the first time, I love how Sam Lake is fully okay with laughing at himself.
One thing that I'm curious about this series of books that Alan wrote involving Alex Casey, would that be a prelude to Max Payne? I mean in the first game Payne's handler was named Alex and he gets killed im the opening act.
Its things like this that make me feel totally cool with Remedy doing this whole "Tie in TV show" for Quantum Break...Alan Wake just makes me feel "Well, if any dev can tackle that concept and do it right, Remedy's the one"

It's one of the best third-persona shooters I've played. The narrative and tone were, admittedly, not in line with the earlier games, but it played incredibly well.

That not Ilkka's voice. Remedy is a Finnish company so they had to dub his voice to make it sound more American. If you think about it, it make sense. A game set in the US with all the characters having Finnish accents?

I just realized that he might not be the actual Alan Wake, but bad darkness twin of his from American Dream. Because he talks about the party fight and "time" is pretty relative in Alan Wake.
Here's a little fun fact... The host here is actually the guy who next to Ilkka Villi(Alan himself) did most of the motion capture for the game including but not limited to Barbara Jagger herself...
fun fact .. the band ‘poets of the fall’ do the song ‘late goodbye’ for ‘max payne 2’
the lead singer also portrays ‘vladimir lem’ in ‘max payne 1’ and did the narration for ‘address unknown’ in the first game.
They're also the ingame Alan Wake band Old Gods of Asgard, and did a song for the game Control called Take Control, but as the band Old Gods of Asgard.

these great little details make Alan Wake fantastic
its in the game. I forget what chapter it's in, but there's a flashback scene where Alan wakes up in his apartment and watches the interview he did for that show the night before. Its pretty cool since it shows a pretty big contrast between who alan once was, and who he's become.

Yeah, a lot of the dialogue feels unnatural in Alan Wake's TV easter eggs, but I think it was done on purpose to some extent. The Max Payne games had similar TV easter eggs, with voices that just didn't fit the screens that played on the TV, simply 'felt unnatural' at times. But at the same time, I feel that it's part of the charm that goes along with these videos.

You do get all these little connections. like Alex Casey is suppose to be based on the rmedia eports of Max Payne. You can see a few of Alan's books on shelves in Quantum Break and there's the Control references.

In the aspect of the story i have to agree with you. Sam Lake is really gifted. Remedy was really putting all their heart in this. Waiting for a game for 5 years? If its Remedy sure. But in my opinion SH was scarier for me. Right now SH4 and Alan Wake are my personal favourite horror games.
