@@theblah12 I forgot about the shoddy greenscreen until you pointed it out and it's making me smile so much All of the live action sequences in the first game looked so endearingly low budget, and with the sequel, you got the Yotton Yo sequence, which is a 20 minute long beautiful short film which is night and day compared to anything from the first game!
I love how all the live action stuff in the newer games (Control and AW2) still feel incredibly campy, but I do admittedly kinda miss the shitty ADR. It just added so much to the charm, especially the night springs episodes.

It’s a small world as they say these days. But in this case, it’s getting even smaller.

There is something so endearingly funny about this. Like, the lip sync wavers in quality/tone and the shot continuity is a touch wacky, but that’s still a lot of work for such a small detail in the game. Combined with the book, Sam and Poets of the Fallen cameos, and the genuinely interesting acting and voice work, it’s just so very delightful.
After having played this game years ago, Bear Control 2 years ago, and just beat Alan Wake 2 - I HAD NO IDEA till a few days ago that Alan Wake isn’t voiced by that actor - the lip sync is off because those are probably all Finnish residents, and the voices are probably from Americans.
I love how Alan Wake wrote the story of Max Payne but its called The Sudden Stop in the game. They even made the cover art on the book the same style and quotes from the book are voiced by the same actor. I buy Remedy games because they have the "Remedy Connected Universe" and each game is like a continuation of the previous one.
Kinda sad they don't have the IP. Max Payne 3 was excellent but it wasn't really in the same vein as the original two games. And considering all the crap Take Two has been pulling lately, I don't even know if I WANT Rockstar to return to Max Payne.
So great... and the fact that I already saw little bits of his interpretation as Mr. Scratch, man... Fabulous. Such a great actor, I hope he as a great career.

It's one of the best third-persona shooters I've played. The narrative and tone were, admittedly, not in line with the earlier games, but it played incredibly well.
Its things like this that make me feel totally cool with Remedy doing this whole "Tie in TV show" for Quantum Break...Alan Wake just makes me feel "Well, if any dev can tackle that concept and do it right, Remedy's the one"

I mean in the first game Payne's handler was named Alex and he gets killed im the opening act.

That not Ilkka's voice. Remedy is a Finnish company so they had to dub his voice to make it sound more American. If you think about it, it make sense. A game set in the US with all the characters having Finnish accents?

Yeah, a lot of the dialogue feels unnatural in Alan Wake's TV easter eggs, but I think it was done on purpose to some extent. The Max Payne games had similar TV easter eggs, with voices that just didn't fit the screens that played on the TV, simply 'felt unnatural' at times. But at the same time, I feel that it's part of the charm that goes along with these videos.
its in the game. I forget what chapter it's in, but there's a flashback scene where Alan wakes up in his apartment and watches the interview he did for that show the night before. Its pretty cool since it shows a pretty big contrast between who alan once was, and who he's become.
In the aspect of the story i have to agree with you. Sam Lake is really gifted. Remedy was really putting all their heart in this. Waiting for a game for 5 years? If its Remedy sure. But in my opinion SH was scarier for me. Right now SH4 and Alan Wake are my personal favourite horror games.
