Steve Gibson is incredible. He is a true artist that has what we are all after as fellow artist - a style that identifies him in his work. When I see an artwork he’s done, I instantly know it’s his. I would love to learn from him. Keep up the good work 🤙
Hey! Thanks man! Been painting this way a long time… there is still more to explain about the kit, so look for that in the near furrier on this channel.

Great video! Gibson does a great job explaining the technique. Been to a couple of his classes and this was very informative. I always learn something new from Steve. This technique has become my personal favorite way to paint… love those Createx Grisaille … Thanks for producing this video.
Very cool. Steve is a really interesting artist and it’s been awesome to see the exact idea behind the paint system. Thanks to all for making the video.
Hey! Thanks Simon! Been painting this way a long time… there is still more to explain about the kit, so look for that in the near future on this channel- more info on the layering of transparent CMY and K and how to properly layer in transparent passes- as well as when to implement opaque color as above, both academically and intuitively.

I found myself starting in black and white and struggled, so I naturally made a neutral gray, that helped tremendously. Then I found Steve and found out he used 9 shades!! That has really opened up a lot of potential for me! Thanks Steve!! Awesome artist!
Thanks man, the idea of working off of that neutral ground has been around a long time. Look at oil painters instead of airbrush artists and how they apply a Grisaille underpainting. That’s the majority of where this airbrush technique comes from, the motive in this approach can vary depending on the “what” and “why” you are doing what you are doing.

Great video, I actually watched the whole thing 🤣. I was dubious at first about the grisaille kit thinking it was just a clever way to sell more paint but this explains the process very well. 🤙 Big props to you mate

Very nice Steve! I agree that the opaques give the painting more body!
Hell yeah man…. More body like a true painting in the traditional sense. 👍
Nice overview of your mixing system and general technique!
Thanks man!
Awesome video and tutorial I think i will be using the 9 scale technique in my future,
Thanks for watching!
Lots of information! You've done an awesome job explaining step by step instructions. Thank you. Can you buy the paint kit on your web sight?
Hey! Thanks! You can’t buy it there, but there should be a Createx link in the video description that takes you too the kit/purchasing.

Each Createx paint brand has a line of opaque as well as transparent colors, including Illustration Colors. Thank you. createxillustrationcolors.com/
Are the three CMY createx illustration colors transparent?
Yes, the CMYK Illustration Colors are transparent (actually translucent, only candy2o are truly transparent). Thank you.
