Somehow the most disappointing thing about reading books is the fact that u will never be able to read all of them 😭. But on the bright side you will get to live a thousand different lives in a life time ❤️
@@booksandbrushes4868 He is I'm my top 3. His writing is superb. I found it through a review in Amazon for another book where the mother said she picked it up from her son one day to see what it was about and she couldn't put it down. I couldn't either.
@@terria.2581 I love how he writes and composes the chapters together so cleverly and with such irony. It's definitely for all ages. Such moral intrigue, society discussion, hifh stakes and interesting plots and amazingly complex and fun characters. It's the only book I've stayed up literally up night till the morning because I could not put it down (end of Unwind.) The fandom for this series needs to be bigger 😂❤
Your shelves are so dreamy...I love it...I know a lot of people have mixed feelings for rainbow shelves..but you do you.✌✌😁😁 AND THE DECOR...HOW'D YOU DO IT?
I love how you are so respectful of the books that were disappointments and that you clarified that they aren't "bad" books just because they disappointed you. It's refreshing to hear other perspectives and the reasons behind choices. I also loved that I loved some of the books you were disappointed in, so that's a good reminder to me to flesh out exactly WHY I like certain books instead of my standard, "it was just good and I liked it" (deep!).
i promise the librarian of auschwitz is WAY better in its og language, cause it actually changes a couple things, and ive read both, in english and spanish, and i actually enjoyed it in spanish but not at all in english, so i totally get where you're coming from btw, you're SO beautiful omg
Oh I’m obsessed with your bookshelves love the color coordination and I have a huge amazon book order lol I love watching your videos they help me out with choosing and not choosing books.
I read Tiny Pretty Things a couple of years ago for a school bookclub and i absolutely loved it! I ended up sneaking it home (we was suppose to leave the books at school during the winter break) and finished it way before everyone else. I'm glad the book is getting more recognition now but I'm also so disappointed and angry cause the tv show is nothing like the book - they really took out everything that made the characters real and gave you something to think about it and replaced it with a 1 dimensional copy-and-paste drama.
The surprising books all sound great! I was unfortunately pretty disappointed by Transcription by Kate Atkinson. I was surprised by The Devouring Gray and Nocturna! I hoped to enjoy them but I really loved them even more than I thought!❤️
Keeper of the Lost Cities surprised me because the fast pacing really hooked me when I was feeling pretty bleh about reading. The Raven Cycle also surprised me with its complex and diverse cast of characters that seem so realistic. I was disappointed by Renegades because I tried reading it twice and only got about 100 pages in. The writing was just very dense?? It was so descriptive I just couldn’t stay focused on what was happening. Sucks because it has great reviews and I adore the rest of Marissa Meyer’s work.
I recently picked up Tiny Pretty Things since the show comes out Monday. I didn't grab the second because I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it, but that surprised me! I don't read a lot of contemporaries and I was surprised I really enjoyed the drama! Now I regret not picking up the second book!
Agreed about being disappointed by The Flat Share, although I’m not a romance fan to begin with.... having said that, I was surprised by how much I liked Get A Life, Chloe Brown! It was sexier than expected and the element of adversity added something new for me!
Hailey, if you haven’t read The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult, you really should! It’s a dual timeline modern day/WWII story like Paper Girl in Paris, but the modern day story is very compelling (though truth be told I enjoyed the WWII story better). It’s also got a great twist at the end that I hadn’t seen coming. Highly recommend!
There were a lot of books in the'of Auchtsvitz series' Tattooist, Librarian and Cellist so I can understand why you were disappointed. It's like everyone was writing them.
I love that these weren't all big fails cause sometimes a book just gets so hyped in your head that anything less than 5 is sad. Also I really hope I disagree with you on The Toll 😅
My biggest surprise of the year was House of Salt and Sorrows. I loved that book! My biggest disappointment was definitely Cinderella is Dead. That book just really fall flat.
Disappointing: Beach Read. It was a 3/5, so it‘s not bad by any means, but after all the hype me not loving it was kinda sad 🤷🏼♀️ Surprising: I reread Krabat which is a magical German classic I had to read for school a couple of years ago. I remembered actually enjoying it a lot then while all my classmates found it boring, so I decided to see how I‘d think about it now. And what do you know it was a 5 star for me. I really liked it a lot 🥰
Hey Hailey I love your bookshelves! I was wondering where you got your gingerbread house with the turquoise/mint door as well as the lantern that is next to the nutcracker?
you forgot to add some books to your new releases video. firstly, "of curses and kisses" (u have this on your shelf) and " The upside of falling". Do you plan on reading these? also love your videos you are so charismatic! :)
My biggest surprise of this year was Dig by A. S. King, I went into it knowing very little about what I was getting into, it's a very weird story. But once it all starts to give together, I was blown away and left crying. Fantastic book that really goes into troubled families and deep rooted white supremacy. My biggest disappointment was Bunny by Mona Awad. I was so excited to read this after Kat hyped it up, but I never found it remotely scary. The goal for what they were doing was so stupid and I hated that we never got any explanation for it. Where did the Bunnies learn about all that stuff? God that book was terrible.
My favorite book this year was One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It was definitely a surprise. I’ve been recommending it to everyone I know. You should check it out. It was a surprise for me because I didn’t love her other books.
Hi Hailey! Have you watched the Tiny Pretty Things show yet? Would you recommend reading the book first and then watching the show or the other way around? Thanks!
big disappointment of the year : Midnight Sun ahahah ans My plain jane as well / and surprising book : The winter king by CL Wilson, Crave by T. Wolffe, Lovely War :)
Book that disappointed me: Follow Me to Ground by Sue Rainsford. So weird...& not in an enjoyable way. Book that surprised me: Mistborn (The Final Empire) by Brandon Sanderson. I expected to like it, but I didn't expect to like it SO MUCH. ^-^
The Opposite of Always was a disappointment for me. The main character was annoying and a terrible friend. I felt like the author gave me no reason to root for Jack.
Worst part about Slay was Malcom. He made me rage-quit a few times. But honestly, Kiera being a woman in STEM made up for it. There is not enough representation for us STEM ladies out there, especially for WOC. ✊🏻

This is such a positive series by Hailey! I just love it 🖤
Ok, you convinced me to put House of Salt and Sorrow on my list again.
When a book is hyped up, I do not trust that, especially after this year.
I don’t even trust reviews anymore.
House of Salt & Sorrows I’ve head a lot about! It sounds amazing!
Thank you for your hard work Hailey ❤

I loved Wolf by Wolf so much! I read it on your recommendation and it was definitely one of my favorites of the year!
I don’t usually comment but I just wanted you to know that you were the first booktuber I watched and I’m still here about 5 years later!
