The Lab NYC is Mixmag and Smirnoff Sound Collective's weekly afterwork party where we stream the best American and international DJs from the intimate space connected to our Brooklyn office. This Friday, Mixmag is will be welcoming Roy Davis Jr. as the first guest of this special edition Lab NYC.
Megastar veteran Roy Davis Jr. will be handling the first of our double header Lab NYC at 7pm EST ahead of his performance at this weekend's Variance Festival. The legendary Undaground Therapy Muzik founder made a name for himself in the 90s are a pure funk pioneer and a key member of DJ Pierre's Phuture. The house and garage artist is most famous for his hit release 'Gabriel' and as the only DJ/producer to be officially signed to Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter's label 'Roule'. His most recent work was a 2014 album titled 'Destroy And Rebuild', which released on Mile End and Soul Electric Records.
Catch Roy Davis Jr. at Variance Festival this Saturday, where Mixmag will be hosting a pop-up vinyl shop presented by Independent Grand.

I have remixed him back and fourth and lately I been doing more big room /festival Techno which has taken off with support from BBC Radio, Ultra Fest (US & EUROPE), TImewarp, Creamfields, EZoo NYC, to name a few.. I am curating an even with Roy called "X Concept". Its based on our respective record labels that puts out Techno with Global modern appeal but still keeping Chicago and Detroit and german foundations. We are planning an all nighter together sprinkled with Acid House as well.. would you lovely peeps at Mixmag be down to a Lab session with us? it would be great. Lmk.

I am on the young end of the crowd that was around for Roy when he came up and I am 37. These are kids here but at least they are there and patronizing and keeping the events like this going. That is some Brooklyn shit because where I live his fan base has aged out and left the building.
