I think we all know what the story in The Mind Electric is, but I’ll cover it anyways. After being found guilty, the main character is sent to some kind of ward where they try to “help” him with electro shock therapy. In the process, he either gained a mental illness, or if he actually had something before, it made it so much worse and helped to destroy his mind Which also causes him to remember things wrong, explaining the Roman/Medieval clothing/settings shown on occasion
I love it so much! And I love that the reversed part is not simply the normal video reversed, they both have those details here and there. One that I really liked is how he doesn't see "father" as a human at all in the reversed part

this is by far my favourite animatic by yours. the layering amount of work you put into this is beyond admirable, someone else in the comments said it already but I love how you didn't make the reverse bit just a reversed version of the same animatic that plays after the reverse, and how you included the background voices like the "you've ought to be ashamed of yourself" during this bit. I can see you also included the "axon dendrite" lyrics while they were playing in this animatic which I appreciate a lot since they are so deep in all the layers of this song but still so good. honestly this animatic is one of the most well executed animatics I've ever seen, I feel like I'm going insane myself while watching it, just like our protagonist. I hope these animatics get tons of more views in the future
1: did you come up with the physical reality vs. mythological imagery in the first place to make this song work (going from classical/pagan stuff full of togas and nymphs to a European castle full of saints, but the principle is the same)? If so it's payed off _beautifully._ 2. I was *not* expecting to be the least scared of the plague doctor in the "see how the surfs" section of all the characters present. Just- something about his acting makes him feel like a trickster mentor and that's fun to me in the middle of all this
Damn, I knew after watching the whole playlist so far, that you were gonna do wonders with this song. But I didn't expect it to be this good. First of all, making a storyboard that worked both in reverse and forward must be hard! You really did unique frames for 6 minutes straight! I admire your dedication. Every frame is worthy of a full illustration, filled with detail and symbolism, and beautifully drawn without cutting any corners. I had to pause every second to fully appreciate the fast paced ones. The Mind Electric, in my opinion, is the crown jewel of the whole album, the song where it all came crashing down- Most people probably got this animatic recommended first, so making the events take place with a medieval times aesthetic in Simon's head was brilliant! that meant the animatic can stand on its own without the prior episodes, but still benefit from the context of the other parts. The details you gave to the character designs make me rewatch this more and more. I am sorry for leaving such a long comment under your video, honestly this was gonna be much longer with me gushing more and more about the animatic, but I think I need to stop lol.
Sweet beans. You spent so much time and dedication on this I honestly couldn't tell if the video itself was suffering from compression artifacts or my internet was acting up. Because that's just how the song goes and your storyboard/animatic goes along with it. It flows together perfectly and creates this wonderful nightmare. You fused the song with your art and then produced a presentation for it. I love it. I'm here for it. I'm sticking around. Let's see what else you can do!

Is there any place where i can learn the story behind this? I can piece a few things together (Sister/Girlfriend dead? Killed her on accident or was accused of it?), but i would love a book or comic if it exists!
