I researched Joseph Boulogne's music and classical music for two years and I have to say, I have never heard a collection of his music put together like this. He must have had the French feeling like they were in heaven at his concerts. If listening to this makes me feel like that today while I do my work listening to this, it's hard to imagine what they would have felt when you hear all the other options of the time such 'baroque' and 'Strum and Drang', which is no disrespect to 'baroque' and 'Strum and Drang'. Please please someone do something like this for us with the modern music of today, we've never needed it more.

I'm sure it was remarkable. Entertaining as well, it seems he was quite fun to watch when he performed his music. I hope to attend a live performance of his music someday. It's so great to see more orchestras playing Bologne!

His music is vibrant and full of life, much like he was.

Phenomenal composer with an amazing life, and a tragic death. That he helped Brahms get commissioned and then remained in obscurity until modern times is inexplicable. Newly subscribed and thanks!

What the fuck are you on about? Joseph died over 3 decades before Brahms was born. 😂

Absolutely beautiful and bringing tears to my eyes listening to this!! For so long I have listened to his music knowing about his life and how Mozart went to Paris to see his performances and learnt everything he could from him. Or just blatantly copied him :))) And then Napoleon tried to wipe his music from the face of the earth because he was black and they later called him the 'Black Mozart' to hide the fact he was before Mozart when in truth he was at his peak and known as the best composer in Europe long before Mozart did anything worth noting. Unbelievable bad behaviour. Quite a few works here I have not heard before, so thank you so so much, they're breath-taking. Enjoying listening while doing my professional work, though not quite studying :)

Hello and welcome. Thank you for listening. I'm so glad that after almost being lost to time, as you mentioned, people can still enjoy his music and learn about his life. There's plenty more on the channel. Enjoy!

As a women of Afro-Caribbean/Latina (Panama) Heritage...He represents not only black excellence...but Caribbean excellence. Sadly, the underepresentation of Caribbean history...let alone African American history not taught in the United States makes the United States a pathetic educational system. My boyfriend, who is from Haiti, was NOT shocked, that I was not educated on this phenomenol man in the US. He stated, "We had to learn about him when we were young in school, So I already knew about him long time ago!" He further stated, "We had to study: English, French, Latin, & Greek and all the different cultures around the world." WOW!! -- If the U.S. educational curriculum can even do the same - which I know they won't, because it is such a Racist & Misogynistic institution!

You think blacks we're respected for music starting from the jazz era...nooooo from or before the classical era. Lots of classical musicians were black.
