  • Join us on our Hunter sailboat as we continue our voyage across the Atlantic Ocean sailing from Europe to the tropics of the Caribbean. Our sailboat shows she’s fully bluewater capable as we cross the Atlantic ocean for the second time short-handed, just the two of us.
    We conduct immediate repairs by climbing the mast in the middle of the night before we show how to repair a ripped asymmetrical spinnaker sail while underway.
    Along with that, we what it is like day to day while offshore cruising while being video and content creators.
    We catch fresh mahi mahi ala dolphin fish from trolling a fishing line and prepare for taco night in the cockpit just in time for sunset!

    Wow, I’ve been up to the top of my mast when safely tied up in harbour, and the gentle swaying from the light winds translated to big movement way up top. Doing it in big seas, offshore, in the dark? You have balls of solid adamantium, my friend. Stay safe. Lance in Oakville, Ontario. S/V Great Escape - Newport 30 - Mk ll

    IT tech: Macbook Pro GPU, is overheating, probably dust in the fan too. Open up the 10 screws under, lift the backrest, and blow out, use eartops if necessary, reassembly. Before, check if any wiring between the screen and the board is fully attached. its usually also there dust like to gather.
    Could even be the CPU/GPU paste that gone old. They usualy do after 3 years. Coolingpaste is pretty cheap. Solves many issues.
    If you notice any changes while working, set the mac aside on a cooler place, wait 10-15minutes, then after that you can continue.
    Put a book or something hard under that lifts it up. Keep it away from any salt.
    When getting internet, check for an update.
    If your using 1080HD on videos, or above, this usually occurs on older macs the machine starts to change colors, flickers, have strange sounds.. Due to the load on the GPU. Set it to 720 if possible.
    A cool top with two fans - with usb plug, saves alot of laptops. Can be found cheap in wallmart, amazon etc.

    From a fishermen Travis when you reach land and find a decent fishing store, or maybe online, spend some good dollars on a fielting knive, and a good sharpening stone, you won't regret it spending the money. when fielting fish

    Back in the day in the mid South Atlantic on a passage from the Canary Is. to Saldana, South Africa, I had to climb the mast to jury rig the top fitting on the head stay. The stay was only connected by only about 5 strands of wire when I discovered the problem so I was really lucky it didn't part underway and possibly lose the mast. Fortunately the winds and seas had subsided somewhat, but it was still pretty rolly at the mast head. I was singlehanded and sure glad I had mast steps.

    Hey guys--nice to see another great video! Question--> where did you get the great looking headsets for communicating on the voyage? I believe there are even LEDs on them?

    • @SailingJibsea
      @SailingJibsea  8 месяцев назад +1

      They’re Hollyland solid come c1s. You can find them on Amazon. The green light you see is just the light indicator that it’s turned on. We’ve done a video about them.

    What is the weight of the material in that ASYM? (.6…..75?) Looks like really light air material for an ocean down wind sail. But HEY! It’s getting you there! Congrats! Great to see you using the headset for up the mast! I wish I could talk my wife into using a set of those.

      tbh, not sure exactly, but definitely light and saving us in these light winds. Headsets are a true game changer, especially in situations like these
