Thank you for your video. Regarding 10:32, for those who are unaware, the Mil-Tech knockoffs are made in China. The best way to distinguish the Chinese knockoffs from the original genuine German Army entrenching tools which were made in West Germany from 1959 until around 1969 is that the genuine shovels have stamped onto them with their year of manufacture as well as their German markings "Bundeswehr Klappspaten" which means "Armed Forces Folding Spade". The original Klappspatens also each came with a high quality sturdy leather sheath. The shovel's disassembly & reassembly instructions are featured @ ruclips.net/video/QKPFfbK519w/видео.html
I chose the glock shovel. Love it so far.
They are great 👍
I have a British army /land-rover type , it has a pick drainage tool ,use as shovel and folds back to handle 180
It weighs the same as a land-rover but doesn't drive
I struggle with this subject all the time. I like the simplicity of the CS Spetnaz shovel and it does chopping so well, plus its really fun to throw... I also like the pick, grappling hook, folding uses of the USGI shovel. So I have both in my truck. If I had to choose one I guess Id choose the Spetnaz cause its half the weight, but probably would carry both cause I'm nut when it comes to these tactical shovels 🤣
The Sharpened shovel, thrown, whilst flinging oneself towards the target was/is a speciality of the Spetsnaz forces
I have both the cold steel Spetsnaz and a USGI tri-fold. Both are excellent and each excel at certain things. Depends on what you plan to have to dig through.
You're in winter, Alaska, and you have to do a Dacota firepit to keep fire safe. What shovel you'll use then?
I have the cold steel shovel and it works great for me 👍🏻
Love the videos. Great analysis and appreciate you sharing your experiences. Keep the videos coming.
I live a couple miles from an entrance to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Townsend,Tennessee.
I spend a LOT of time backpacking in the Appalachian backcountry. I've been looking for a replacement E-Tool this spring and THOUGHT I'd settled on the Cold Steel Spetsnaz model. That long handle was the main buying point.
However, after watching your video,I've decided to change to the Glock instead of the Cold Steel. I use a handheld saw for firewood. The Glock E-Tool allows for both hands to be on the saw,for me,that's a game changer. Because of your excellent video, I now know that the Cold Steel Spetsnaz shovel isn't the right choice for me. Because of what I learned from your video,I've just ordered the Glock E-Tool and I'm confident that I've made the right choice. Thank you for making a video that gives viewers all the information they need to make an informed buying decision,Just like I've done. Thank You,Again
Be aware, the tooth angle takes out a wide area, is great for small trees and branches but not so great for much else. It is not a replacement for a decent bow saw. As a fallback better than nothing it is fine and very well made.
I have two of the type you got from your grandfather, mine both have a bit more compact handles and are very well built and work great 👍😁💪🏻🇺🇸
I'll save time to watch it, Specnaz do it all and even more
Except folding it for easier carry or making it into a pick
@@tubeguy4066 But destroying Abrams, Leopard, Challenger tanks is something that not a single other shovel can
Nothing screams tacticool like a non functioning saw blade and a bottle opener 😂😂
Cold steel spetsnaz is amazing but it's heavy AF. I have a bad back and bad arm; Glock entrenching tool is what I ended up going with.
I've had a Russian army issue shovel and a Cold Steel Spetznats shovel for years and they are the best out there. The Glock E tool is pretty good also, I just don't like curved the head design wich nakes it difficult to chop with or the locking knob that sticks out the side and you end up kicking, hitting and getting snagged on everything. You can use the saw in the grooves on the locking nut to crank down and really tighten it, which is nice. And I have yet to find a folding E tool that stays tight or doesn't break at the rivets
Late to the party but i can buy those so called "Gerber" e-tools in their box for 18 euros here in the Netherlands. How prices depreciate that much i do not know. Or were the prices just vastly inflated in the first place. Seriously need to see what a MOLLE clip looks like please? MILTEC, anything they make breaks within 4 weeks including clothing, thats why its so cheap.
Yes keep it up.
The Gerber is made by Fiskars, for anyone looking one or the other might have a better price at any given time. The only difference is the Gerber has serrations on one side.
Can you fit the Glock e tool in a m1956 etool carrier ???
I was issued the Gerber. I hate it because we constantly break the damn thing.
I want the shovel I can lay on the coals and fry bacon without it burning up or melting.
Mine says Ames 1967 on the blade
I used ammo boxes over the cat hole in Iraq. So much sand we had a ready bathroom.
How do u make the Molle modification on the entrenching tool sheath for the hard shell one that’s usually issued?
The first one you are showing seems to be the original Ames one. The ones made in Germany today for the army have a stronger joint with 4 rivets (instead of 3) and improved overall shoulders.
It can do a lot more than people know about it. I have a video where I show 41 uses:
ruclips.net/video/6a3F2LyRF2A/видео.htmlsi=mf327cUxIVgMBiGz
It's only downside is the weight.
Also a NCO seat
Impressive collection. How many full sized shovels do you have
EVERY folding shovel goes floppy during use.
After many years living in the field, I say "forget the shovel." Bathroom use? Use a garden trowel. Digging? Need a serious small pick-mattock (NON folding).
Mine is stamp Ames 1967
You can probably buy a surplus Russian shovel from Ukraine. They have a few laying around, I bet
And it's heavy as hell
We use to call thse I pooped

The West German ETool was the best I ever handled. Your grandaddy's "WWII" is actucally a Vietnam era. Learn your stuff before you try to educate other. Amateur.
"What I need you to do right now is like the video" That's seriously your opening line before I even know if your video is good or not? That's a quick way to get a dislike from me. And I typically hand out the like button on most videos. Well done.
