I really admire your teaching and demonstration of diagnostics. And, it's great that you re-purpose (scavenge) the required components rather than purchase new. I need to repair this exact same charger. Thank you for the head start!
Thanks for sharing. Just one correction: at 4:30, you said about the big capacitor that it is 68V and 200uF, but it is on the other way round. 68uF and 200V. Just for proofing that I am listening carefully to you.🙂 I know that, because I have learned a lot from you, my friend. After the bridge rectifier the DC voltage is around 156V. You are my "teacher" and I have learned the formula: 110V AC x 1.414=156V DC. Many thanks for teaching us with your videos.🤝
You are correct. it is really wonderful reversal that i pronounced voltage with capacitance and capacitance with voltage. really special thanks for your interest, i am sorry for mistake
You are a genius. Bro i wish i could reach you... I had a lott of trouble by getting my dewalt charger shot circuit. In my city, no one could repair it. I got a new charger but i have to wait for 2 years.
@@HaseebElectronics yes brother. My dewalt kit was imported from US. I live in Nepal. I was totally unaware of the voltage difference there at US and here in Nepal. So unfortunately as i plugged the charger pack it got into smoke. After watching many videos on RUclips i was sure the capacitor has got damage. i tried to change the Capacitor but still it didnt work. Anyway now i knew that the diode and the 2amp fuse can be also the issue.
Also brother now i got a new one at a very high expense. The delivery charge from US is much more than the price of charger. I am afraid to charge it back. I have a votage converter from 220 -110..but dont know how the voltage converter is working or not. Since the charging Blink is not as it should be. The frequency of the blink is - once and then two times(. .. . .. . .. . ..) I hope you will help me in this. Do you have watsapp, viber or facebook? I can send you the video. Bro im helpless here, no one is good technician in our city
Asslam Alikom Br. very nice video, If I Want to charge my dewalt Battery will I am driving , can you Convert it to work on the cigarettes Lighter, what I have to change in the input of the chargers.
Thank you Haseeb! No thank you DeWalt. I have a great three-year old drill. Same charger problem. The capacitor cost me several weeks and less than $2 for 2 capacitors on a slow boat from China, including shipping! Alternatively, the cheapest replacement charger I could find was $100. I won't touch another overpriced DeWalt product. (Yeah, customer support phone dude, I'm following through on hurting DeWalt's reputation.)
Great video. In my case, the charger had both the AC and DC present but still would not charge the batteries, after I reflowed a number of suspect looking solder joints it started working again.
is it ok to change 68uf 200v to 68uf400v? i have 110v accidentally plug in to 220v when i look at the capacitor is blown my problem is i cannot find 68uf 200v insted is 68uf 400v
if 200v capacitor is not available and you can find 400v with same capacitance you can replace it. it will work safely because the new voltage range will higher than the original 200v capacitor
Can you use a power strip plugged into the isolation transformer so you can have the option of multiple outlets protected? I was just wondering if it will be ok that way?
hello good afternoon, very good video. I have the same charger only that in my country it works with 220V. I wanted to check when measuring the capacitor once the charger is connected, it shows a measurement of 300v VC. when it should be around the same size as you show in the video, the truth is I don't know what could happen. I would appreciate your help. Thanks a lot.
Hello, I have a dcd710 dewalt 10.8 volt drill. No original battery. This drill has 4 inputs -, +, thermistor and ID. But I can't get it to run by just giving it -, + power. Trigger Led is on, motor does not turn. Engine is OK. What is the problem? What can I do.?
My dewalt 12 /20 v DCB charger , I connect a discharged battery and the Red Light stars charging and at once it changes to Fixel Red as if it is fully charged and it is not . What should I check the charger ? Thanks Haseeb Electronics
My dewalt dcb115 charger keeps putting my charges on standby (red light and yellow on together) even though the battery is neither too hot nor too cold. Do you know how to fix this?

Hello bhaiya, I need a help again from you,,,, I have 24v smps for disco light,, it was with a fluctuating output fault, I was trying to figure out the fault with the help of your video,,, There is nothing short in secondary, and slight fluctuation in main capacitor also,,, and then while checking with multimeter I mistakenly shorted 12n60 , it got short and I replaced it,, but now there is no output, it's like dead,,, I get volts until main capacitor,,,, please suggest me what to do.....
Man I have that charger 110v,but I need 220v.Does it possible to convert on 220v and what I need to change?I would be grateful if you would answer me.Tnx
i will recommend to not to change it. as the 110 circuit is different, its all calculations are for 110v there are some tricks to change some components (input filter, fuse, bridge, capacitor, snubber, startup resistor) and it works for a short time then its transformer goes away forever, WHY? because the inductance value of existing transformer is for 110VAC voltage (160VDC maximum). if we expose this winding to 220VAC (330VDC nominla) what will happen. transformer will saturate immidiately due to getting peak current so i will request to not to play with it. there are 95 percent failure chances. if you replace the transformer with all components the 95% success chances. in this condition the components price will reach above 70% price of the charger. that will not a good decision to modify it it is much better to purchase a step down transformer for its long life usage

wow that is awesome
sometimes the dry joints make problem, specially in power electronics because it deals with large amount of current values

I did same tests and fuse good and diodes good what do i check next
did you verified dc voltage on bulk capacitor. it must have stable dc voltage
then check vcc capacitor
and verify the secondary section and BMS
Thanks for your videos sir.

you are right, when we apply 220VAC then 220*1.414= 311VDC so the voltage at the dc capacitor around 300 to 320VDC
thanks for your valuable comment
I think the only difference between the 110v and the 220v version are the capacitor. Is 200v for one and 400 for other. Correct me if I wrong
Mashallah So Amazing

Ihave one question for you sir?
How can i check smd components on isolated PCB by digital multimeter?
What is number type IC pwm primer ?
i dont remember the PWM IC number. as i don't have the charger right now
Excellent analyze and repair. Thank you!
Good work
Thank you so much 😀
thank you for sharing.
Do you have a link to the parts you replaced?
i purchased these parts from local market here in Jordan

My charger gets warm and makes a high pitched noise but won't light up or charge. What could be the problem please.
