      It's a shame because the implementation of split screen on ipad is pretty good. It also keeps the two split apps in your recents. And you can switch to app overlays and swap them which is nice. I don't see why you would limit this to ipad.

I own a s20 plus and this phone made me realize there isnt much different between android and ios now. Had a tough decision between iPhone 12 pro max and galaxy s21 ultra. Took the s21, no regrets. Reasons why:
    1. Can connect and mirror to any smart TV without any additional hardware such as apple TV via quick share
    2. 120 Hz display
    3. The camera variety- the 30 x optical/hybrid zoom is really amazing. See it to believe it. And the macro lens is amazing. The selfies and portrait modes I feel for the first time are better than iPhone. The camera versatility you get is so much more than the iPhone.
    4. Split screen
    5. No notch. It really does bother me after looking at both phones side by side. The hole punch is so much more less intrusive
    6. Fingerprint sensor. So much more convenient with a mask
    7. Full functionality widgets such as calendar full screen, WhatsApp and notes full screen widgets. Quick glance at my home screen and my day is so much more organised
    8. Google assisstant- so much better than Siri. I use it in the car when using android auto
    9. File management- this was a very big one for me. For work, I need quick access to pdf files offline. Apparently you cannot do this with iPhone. I have a folder on my home screen for quick access documents/ images I need during my work to refer to. The file system is also so much more intuitive and doesn't feel like you're fighting against anything
    I showed my cousin and his father who both had the iPhone 12 and they were blown away by the camera especially at the optical zoom.
    I just feel as the phones are the same price, the iPhone doesn't offer as much as the galaxy s21 ultra unfortunately.
    I hear apps are better refined on ios. I tried iOS apps and feel this is over rated statement. The apps on the galaxy s21 ultra work buttery smooth especially with the 120 Hz refresh rate

    Has this guy ever made a tech video that hasn’t pissed people off? Lmao

  • @matthewsjardine
    @matthewsjardine 3 года назад +156

    Ecosystem is a much larger discussion than what tech reviewers cover. They always look from the perspective of available products and services, as well as the experience that can be created. I agree, that is 90% of the discussion. I have found the remaining 10% very important, and that is the user's ecosystem i.e. where is all their stuff stored? If they take advantage of Google Services (e.g. Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Photos, Keep, Docs, Sheets, Sides, etc) or Microsoft (Office, OneDrive, Microsoft To Do, OneNote, etc), they can really use Android or iOS quite interchangeably. Switching is not too large a hassle. If you have all your files, photos, notes, reminders, documents, movies, music, etc invested in the Apple ecosystem, you are likely to hate transitioning to Android. Firstly, it can be a culture shock - things are done differently. Secondly, there is a lot of transitioning and relearning to be done.
    I was a long time Apple fanboy, but have since left the ecosystem when I started in the infosec industry. Technical people who like to tinker and control their experience are just better off on Android.

    • @王虎知

      Not all androids phone deliver better value. They just releasing stuff and then remove it later. Samsung for instance has been taking off features just to set the price down. So basically it came back to its core “value”. Iphone is great value for average users despite its price. Some people like myself can keep the product longer to use than android devices

    • @nitesh-maharaj
      @nitesh-maharaj 3 года назад +3

      @@alaffy1112 iOS did have some pretty big vulnerabilities, that is true. However, iOS is also a lot more privacy focused as Apple makes money from products and services as opposed to monetizing your data. They also have a far more tightly curated AppStore, whereas it's a lot easier to sneak in some malicious software into Google's Play Store. Until relatively recently apps on Android could make pretty broad access rights requests and the user wouldn't know exactly what they're authorizing and because of things like a shared filesystem, apps could potentially be a lot more malicious. Security implementations can vary by OEM, like Apple's FaceID is far more secure than face unlock and fingerprint implementations on various Android devices.
      While there is no such thing as a secure OS, it does appear that Apple has far more mitigation strategies than Android.

    • @alaffy1112
      @alaffy1112 3 года назад +15

      @@nitesh-maharaj NOPE. A company that is “privacy” focused would not allow google maps, chrome & voice on its platform. I used to think commercials/advertisement was a waste of time, but apparently not. Cutting a 30 sec ad on how secure iOS does not make it secure. Consumer Data privacy is a myth. Apple just like others utilized consumer data for their own benefit either by selling or research on consumer behavior.
      That’s why they know how to trap apple consumers in a way that is difficult to leave their echo chamber .

Plus I love Android a lot more than iOS for many reasons. Plus I hate the big a** ugly notch on the iPhone screen. Plus on screen fingerprint! Plus the S21 is actually at $650 or $700 (on Best Buy and Amazon), while the iPhone 12 is at $800. I think I have made my decision. S21!

    For those that don't know, the reason why Android phones need so much more memory (RAM) than an iPhone is because they use a memory management technique called garbage collection. Basically the memory used by apps are automatically allocated and deallocated, so that the developer doesn't need to manage this, preventing mistakes which can lead to memory leaks. Unfortunately, this also means that memory isn't always released the instant it's no longer required and often you end up with unused memory that is reserved by an app for long periods of time. This inefficient use of memory also requires more energy usage, therefore Android devices require bigger batteries as well.
    So if you're bragging about big numbers, just remember that Porsche's little flat 6 can outgun a big V8 muscle car, just how the iPhone will always crush an Android device that has big numbers.

      I know this is an old comment, but I wanted to give some input here. Android does utilize Java, which means it does in fact use garbage collection. iOS uses something called 'ARC', which has its advantages and disadvantages. You are correct when you say that iOS doesn't need as much RAM, since it's more efficient with what it does have. However, the GC in android devices is still smart about what memory is managed under it, so it doesn't really affect battery life. However, saying "The iPhone will always crush an Android device that has big numbers" is not true in all cases. Android devices still launch many apps faster, and even some apps that process images/video will be quicker on Android (take Snapseed as an example).

      @@SprintKeyz The GC itself may not lead to much more power consumption, however, the more addressable memory you have, the more power you require to run it. It’s not uncommon for flagship Android devices to have 8, 12 or even 16GB of RAM. The ripple effect is a bigger battery. So the allocation / deallocation of memory is not so much the core issue, just a precursor.
      Measuring the startup time of apps is frivolous, because unless the app has been properly optimised on both platforms, built natively, you’re off to a bad start. On top of that different devices have SoCs with varying capabilities, so some systems can use dedicated hardware, while others will just use either the CPU or GPU. It’s impossible to put it down to the OS.

    No point in comparing the amount of RAM.
