They’ve made a mention about how those types don’t really count against modern movies, mainly because they would stay in theatres for years at a time, due to less competition. My first thought was Gone With the Wind as well, but Box Office Mojo has their adjusted Gross at $1.822 Billion almost $1 Billion less than End Game's WORLDWIDE gross. Box Office Mojo doesn't offer adjusted worldwide grosses, as Dan noted, because that's too difficult to calculate given the multitude of currencies and countries. But I don't know that unadjusted box office numbers are available for GWTW outside of North America. Remember too, international receipts weren't a major revenue source for the studios 80 years ago. It's adjusted international numbers might not be enough to get it to # 1. But without those numbers, it's Avatar by default.

Always appreciate the charts, but I'm a little disappointed you guys didn't shout out Makoto Shinkai's newest film which released in Japan over the weekend. It's called Weathering With You and it almost cracked the World Wide Top 5 this weekend with about 15.2 Million Dollars in Japan alone. That film is also important because GKids acquired the rights to distribute the film in North America so it will have a Theatrical Run in 2019 for Awards contention and a wider release in 2020. Missed a big opportunity to talk about it when Lon talked about Anime.
There's a reason we watch movies from your country guys: our local movies are terrible... You'll find a gem here and there but 90% are riddled with low budget, bad acting, bad writing...etc
The only reason "Western" films are sometimes higher quality is because they've had many decades of practice and colleges training the next generations. Modern film-makers are lifted by those that came before. So while you may think a local movie isn't as good or as impressive, it may end up being a stepping stone for a great movie down the line. There's always hope. =]
My local TV channel have been having the same shitty "comedies" for 15+ years after the 7 o'clock news. And then at 8.30 and 10pm they get cheesy soap operas . Its really pathetic and zero creativity on their part.
At this point I'm just wondering whether 'Toy Story 4' is gonna make it to a $billion. It'll either just make it or fall just short. Still doing big things in Japan.
doing that for every single currency would be a real pain in the ass, it's not like you'd just have to convert from Euros, Pounds and Yuans, you'd need to convert each individual value from each country (or region in case of Euro)...
I'm half way through the series, but can confirm Money Heist is well worth a watch. Just make sure to watch it in the original Spanish with subtitles, as the English dub is a bit of a mixed bag - some really good voice actors and others that don't quite gel with the characters.
David Harbour was very energetic, Stranger Things aside, he's coming right off the Hell Boy flop right into the MCU he better be happy. I think Teyonah Parris takes the aware for having most energy while on stage. That girl was glowing..

I agree with Dan and Lon that it's a shame that people in the US aren't more open to watching subtitled foreign films. I've watched more foreign TV shows than I have films, but I've still seem some great stuff in both categories.
These two are just awesome to watch..
Spiderman Welcome Home? More like Spiderman Runs Away from Home based on the post credit scenes.
There you go finally what they have been tracking since April is complete!!
Congrats endgame here’s to #1!! And lucky dan getting to be at hall H;)
I’m so excited to watch Dan’s review for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" is esoteric. Interesting...
Depends which country you're talking about. The UK for example puts out consistently high quality content imo.
My local TV channel have been having the same shitty "comedies" for 15+ years after the 7 o'clock news. And then at 8.30 and 10pm they get cheesy soap operas . Its really pathetic and zero creativity on their part.
@@catsthemovie4692 I stoped watching tv here. All I watch is my subscribed RUclips channels and netflix (all from usa as well)
"Breathtaking" is still the best on stage response this year, but "who came up with this question" is now a close second
If you've seen Frankenstein's Monster's monster Frankenstein you'll know that this is just pure David Harbour, completely normal for him.
@@NorthernSeaWitch I think you can say the same for Keanu
This show is the main reason I’m still subscribed, dan really is the best movie guy on RUclips
At this point I'm just wondering whether 'Toy Story 4' is gonna make it to a $billion. It'll either just make it or fall just short. Still doing big things in Japan.
Dan I love your show keep up the good work
Godzilla singing Elton John songs .. take my money 💰
I am a little disappointed Dan didn't mention the countdown to Cats. Still, great show!
So now it’s
1. Gone with the wind
2. Star Wars a new hope
3. Avengers endgame
4. Avatar.
How DARE you cut out Dan Murrell before he is done wrapping up the show! Cue the “SHAME” bells! 🤣
Today I got the notification from my movie theater that Stuber will be released on August 21st. WTAF?! This is why people turn to piracy.
You could use the dollar exchange rate for when the film opened in a particular territory at a specific date.
doing that for every single currency would be a real pain in the ass, it's not like you'd just have to convert from Euros, Pounds and Yuans, you'd need to convert each individual value from each country (or region in case of Euro)...
Just imagine if avengers endgame was less than 3hrs I think it would of made more money
Um actually, ‘Gone with the Wind’ is the highest grossing movie ever, adjusted for inflation.
suzieBirdoSum009 inflation doesn’t exist
Mason Wright it does
They should release the number of tickets sold, then there'd be no confusion...
Theres a bunch of students from china in my school (ireland) and they were all hyped as fuck for endgame
They said it couldn't be done. Can you imagine cutting it any closer to the last minute?
One Movie to rule them all
One Movie to find them
One Movie to bring them all
And it the lightness bind them
My favourite SJ Show of the week
