Sean, thank you for your heart. Like you, I'm about to be 40 this year. I wish I had half the "cinematic skills" you have. I used to be an influencer in a very special space and it meant everything to me. Unfortunately, due to certain unexpected reasons, I had to walk away. Now, I am stuck everyday craving to get back into the content creation space only to be failing again and again.
Just want to encourage you that sometimes, numbers like views and subscribers don't mean too much. It's always about the quality of your followers / fans. I would rather have 1000 followers who can spend $1,000,000 than having 1,000,000 followers who can spend $10,000.
But just like you said, keep following your heart. Create something that'll last for an eternity on the Internet world and your name will forever be immortalised for the many generations to come.
    Good luck

Also i feel you creating creator breakdown is amazing and RUclips is genuinely changing back to how it was always supposed to be. Amazing RUclipsrs like Riza, Gawx and this new Indian dude i came across called Rishi Udapurkar is my new fav.
Just a tip, you can also make breakdowns on this new guys like Rishi who are exploding on the scene

Because finding good RUclipsrs is becoming tougher and tougher. BTW I checked this Rishi guy and man is he killing it. But underrated though i feel . At Sean i feel you should definitely make this your niche

@Sean Alami Great video brother! So....two things. Number One: Your drone work is INCREDIBLE. I have been an RC Helicopter pilot since the late 80's and I own a production company for 20 years...I had the opportunity to start the RUclips channel FliteTest with a group of my friends in a garage. This led to me chasing the same dream as you....cinematic aerial footage. Only back then in 2010 the only way to do it was to design and build your own drone. I was almost to tears as a full grown man over the next 2 years trying to design a mount for the camera that would eliminate all the high freq vibrations in the footage. I stayed at it. It finally paid off when I submitted my aerial reel to Discovery Channel and ended up on a series for them. Flitetest led us out to California at the release of the Phantom 3 PRO and we literally sat down at dinner with the President of DJI....the reason im telling you this.....even THAT meeting left me with ZERO opportunity from DJI. I was flying an Inspire 1 that I had modified to incorporate FatShark goggles and a race drone FPV system. We left there and I had direct contacts with people from not only DJI but also FB's marketing team who was also present. I reached out, I waited....and like you....I got nothing, well except a couple hats. (kinda wish I got a water bottle) LOL! Your story could not be more spot on. Chasing brands is just not the road. Thank you for this content......and again. your drone work is STELLAR!!!!! Number two: I've wanted to do RUclips for so long and have been honestly afraid to commit. I have 50+ hobbies and interests and everyone says "pick a lane....pick a niche" or nobody will watch you. I love doing EVERYTHING......and so I haven't started making regular content because i'm honestly afraid of making videos about all these different interests and having RUclips's algorithm keep me down because I dont have a niche. I fly drones/RC aircraft...I am a real pilot, I have done Chinese kungfu for almost 30 years, I mountain bike, I shoot archery and even play with yo-yo's. I just really love life and your video has really inspired me. You said something along the lines of "making videos that are authentic and just come from the heart" .....Brother.....that hits hard. I love that. Thank you. keep chasing your passions.....and hopefully now I will have the courage to pursue mine. :) CHEERS!!!! Oh and I have liked and sub'd. You rock sir!!

Eric, my brother, thank you for the kind words. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
It means a lot to me that a veteran like you complements my work . I am sure you know about drones a lot more than I do.
And from what I hear, you are a treasure, my brother and the world needs to hear your stories . I say start putting your heart out and don’t care about the views think about it as if you were in school and just keep uploading and I guarantee you in two years you see that fucking light in the tunnel.
      Much Love my brother

Ok, damn. That was a hell of a video, Sean!
Thank you for this masterpiece of short-doc summary of the past 2 years of your struggle. You know how much that helps, you know seeing others stand up one more time than they fall. It inspires. And thanks for the intimate experiences that you shared I don't take it for granted, man.
And by the way, your drone footage is really execptional just like the quality of your storytelling in this video. The pace, dramatic moments and (dramatic) jokes ("I just turned 40.") really made this video what it is, besides you sharing your heart-felt experiences about this topic and the last struggles.
The first video I watched from you was the one about Life of Riza and it made me subscribe and I'm happy I did.

Please Please keep up your heading. I really like your new Mindset! Your content always has been World-class but it never resonated with me. It was to much commercial for my liking. I do enjoy life of riza very much too. With your new Mindset and Skillset that you have i am very exicted to see what you come up with now! I do know that he is much smaller and does not have your skillset but i do love also the Content of Ted Nemeth who creates Drone Footage wholeheartedly (only with 1 DJI mini drone). I wonder how you will approach Drone Cinematography wholeheartedly with your skillset, i will be thrilled! You are the Master of Cinematography, you got to the "how to create" Masterclass but i would love to see your interpretation of "Why" do you want to create a specific Subject. Storytelling lessons form you that do not focus on new gear would also be something I would love to see from you. Thanks again for Your honesty.

100% gotta stop chasing gear and stuff like that. For me in reptiles it’s chasing projects. Sometimes gotta enjoy and work with what you have. Creating fun stuff. I’m working on finding my base I’m leaning toward a less is more and figuring out a better softer look for the talking portion something that creates interest.

remember when youtube first arrived ?
people made videos for fun, to share something cool or to educate others via a tutorial etc.
In 2011 ish the big tv studios realised there was a huge market here so they setup studios / talent agencies to recruit personalities to their networks under the guise of a talent agency
the adpocalypse happened in 2016 and ruined youtube as it turned it into a business for many people and there are so many people that only make videos for $$$ without considering if it fits into the 3 main categories (fun cool or educational). Then there are the brand chasers where every video is sponsored or advertising the latest peice of e-waste, they get boring fast.
Thats the main problem with youtube, plus many of these successful youtubers are not organic, they are part of big studios etc - look at the people behind mr beast etc etc so to think you can be like them without the huge backing they have is silly.
Remember why you want to make a video and if money is one of the 3 top reasons then maybe you should consider if that video should be made, cos the audience can tell the mindset of the creator.
another bit of advice i give people... just because youy can makje videos, doesnt mean that you should.
So many youtubers lack charisma, personality and talent, so while they have all the gear they break the equation. Lets be honest a 20 something female is more pleasing to look at than a middle aged hairy man with beer belly. its a hard fact of life, so the female is going to get more views despite the subject matter. - look at the life of riza.. pleasing to look at yes, more views yes... then compare it to similar channels run by men.....
in 2024 you have to be exceptional as a man on youtube, almost going against the grain and doing your own thing that people havent seen before... this is where your creativity and fun / cool ideas come into play... if you dont stand out you will get lost in the ocean of immitations.
