Bought the Dark Manta... my wife and I went night snorkeling with the manta ray's on the Big Island of Hawaii several years ago and it was one of the most calming yet exciting adventures of our time spent on the islands to date. Dive lights were placed on the sea bottom pointing up and we held on to a custom paddle board with dive lights mounted through the board pointing down in the water. The light attracts plankton and the mantas come to feed. They would slowly flip and turn with their mouths open as they fed and it was just incredible. Dark manta was a no-brainer for me, plus I just think it's more legible than the brighter blue.

I have the bright blue one, it is so beautiful. All 4 Mantas are swimming in the same direction in togetherness, so lovely! That brighter blue light looks so nice in some shops because of their lighting, also outdoor in daylight and sunny days, I could not have been happier with my watch! I use it as my everyday watch, and no other watch has the same positive impact on me like this one has, not even close! : ) Thank you for your video! Seiko did really nail home run with this one!
I own the SRPE39J1 Manta Ray . Definitely think the brighter dial is so much more beautiful 🤩 and amazing. Actually I think the brighter MantaRay is the most beautiful 😍 dial I’ve ever seen on a watch 👍🏻💯

I put my original manta on a navy blue nato today and it just popped!, i seriosly can't think of owning another diver, it's the most beautiful watch i ever had. I sold off my luxury watches as i moved on to other hobbies and settled on the turtle manta.. Never looked back!
I have the blue manta for 6 months now. What makes me love ir só much is the fact That the watch completly changes it's personality depending on the light it gets. It's a love story.
I didn't notice when I was watching this video at first. but on blue manta ray version there are 4 manta rays and they're swimming synchronized to same direction. On the dark manta ray there are 3 and they're swimming randomly different directions. If you look longer than 5 seconds you feel like you're in the ocean with them. Absolutely hypnotic dial.

I was going to get the shark dial with the wave pattern, but while my wife and I were kayaking, a big manta literally jump by our side and I knew I had to get the SPRE39 instead :)))
Def prefer the dark manta - I have the great white KT and love it, the dial colour of the original manta is too similar to the shark so not pulled the trigger for one, def gonna go for the dark KT 👍👍
Glad I found this channel and enjoy the great views. I selected the dark Samurai model since I recently purchased the king turtle SRPE05 green grenade and wanted something different. I am so happy I chose the Samurai model as it looks fantastic and wears great. I really like the subtle look of the dark dial. It is amazing. You can’t go wrong with either the samurai or turtle models. New to the Seiko brand and I am now hooked. The white samurai is calling me…
The dark for me. The save the ocean great white was first released as a non king turtle version (hardlex crystal without the magnifier or ceramic bezel insert)
The darker one looks more classy to me. And more expensive looking. I just bought it. I returned the green grenade king turtle watch. It looked big on my wrist and after a couple of weeks I got bored of the green grenade dial. This dark manttra Ray looks gorgeous looking. And looks smaller on my wrist which is on the big side 7.25 inches. Ray usa
I have had the SRPE39 for quite a while now. Unfortunately I just never wanted to wear it. I just couldn’t stand the cyclops. I decided to remove the cyclops and now I don’t want to take the watch off. I didn’t realize how much the cyclops distracted my attention from the dial. The watch is so much better looking without it. I’m very glad I decided to remove it.

I liked the dark Manta, so I got it. Love the silicon strap. I can see why it’s only $25 less here in Canada. It’s just a solid and very comfortable strap that looks great. I fell in love with the Sark Manta look as soon as I saw it. I was lucky enough to find it while getting my Prospex solar chrono adjusted at my local dealer here in Vancouver. They kinda resemble the sla055 with the dial color and the chunky bezel. The sla055 is one of my all time faves. I’ve been looking at a king turtle and the dark one might be it. The dial on it is awesome, although I’d prefer no mantas.
I now have both manta rays..and the 3rd watch he showed which was the great white turtle I now own..but that one has the blue lume instead of the green lume we are all use to
Great comparison video... on my side I'm hesitating between bright manta and the great white shark ... perso I appriciate fact that seiko upgraded with ceramic bezel and sapphire glass but I don't like the cyclops ... i will go to closest local store and try one to verify it is not a blocker for me
Both watches are excellent, but I prefer the blue Manta Ray. I own a 'King Samurai' Save The Ocean SRPE33K1, and wearring it with a black/grey OMEGA NATO strap, and it's absolutely stunning!
Wow great video!! I was on the fence about the dark mantra and now i’m even more torn 😂 My fav is the 2nd gen by far... it’s just poppin! But out of the latest two, gotta edge on the brighter dial. I think the brighter will catch more eyes... if that’s what you want. Keep up the great videos dude.

Great video…really helps to see them side by side but, to be honest with you that purplish blue shade strap that you added to the older model does not look good with the aqua colored dial. Those are clashing blues that are not in the same shared color spectrum

Cool video. Amazing to see all generations of STO Turtle together. I bought the Samurai and would still pick the Dark STO if I was chosing a turtle...definitely more muted but still loads of depth on the dial design..plus I live in Ireland so the Ocean here is never as blue and bright as the colour on the SRPE39 anyway:-) Can't wait to see the newest Non STO Turtles when they release later in the year... Seiko just keeps making me broke!! Too many awesome releases coming 😆😆

I had same conundrum...but decided Dark Manta Samurai in the end as the larger Candybar date window on the Turtle (for me) just obscures too much of the dial. Samurai fits so well too and is really comfortable.. it hides its dimensions really well
The Great White is the third generation, but the one you have came later together with the fourth generation improved with ceramic bezel and sapphire. Therefore the name King Turtle. First generation was just Save the Ocean. I don't know about the second. The is one called Black Hole but maybe the is a other series called Blue Laggon. Third Great White. Fourth Manta Ray. There is a new generation called Save the Ocean Antarctica. But have seen a Baby Tuna and a Monster so far. Nive dial in icy/snowy blue color with penguin footsteps.

There are two versions of the Great White STO the other one comes with Hardlex crystal and two-color aluminum bezel. The Great White STO in this video seems to have been released along with the Manta versions in 2020. Dark Manta is 2021 release. Not sure how to tag "generations" to all these versions now..🤔
I say the bright manta looks better, if I wanted a subtle look I would choose a solid black, would kinda want this watch to be more noticeable and eye popping, to me thats sorta the whole point of these save the ocean watches

U have an error in the video..u put up the movement in the upper right hand corner and both those watches have the day/daye complication which makes them.both 4R36 monements.u posted 4R35..that movement goes with all samurais
Of the Mantas, I prefer the dark version. But I have the first gen Save the Ocean turtle, and it's still my favorite of all of these. The only turtle tempting me these days is the green grenade dial King Turtle.

The Dark Manta for me, subtle enough that only I can see the Manta Rays. Can wear it to office - the brighter may look a tad chintzy.
Dark Manta is too subtle, to the point where it's boring. The brighter one just pops off more. Strikingly beautiful.
Each their own, but I'm torn between them as they're both gorgeous for both reasons mentioned in the other posts! 🙈

I have the SBDY029 Samurai Great White. It’s my favorite but all of these turtles have my eye....the brighter blues look so good in the light!

I got the strap off another turtle it doesn't come with it you can order it from a Seiko authorized dealer or try to find it on eBay

There are 5 STOs - 2 in 2018, 1 in 2019, 1 in 2020 & 1 in 2021. I have all 5 turtles from the 5 STOs.

The reason why I haven’t struck on either one of those models is because of the glare on the oil paint brush textured dial.

Of the Mantas, I prefer the dark version. But I have the first gen Save the Ocean turtle, and it's still my favorite of all of these. The only turtle tempting me these days is the green grenade dial King Turtle.

I really like the blue one (manta 1). But price is too high for me. 😞 I think it is the most beautiful dial on divers that i saw.
