    Definitely Princess. They were so amazing on our cruise!
    I was 9 weeks pregnant with our son on our last cruise in Nov 2019, I was so worn out between morning sickness and sea sickness both kicking my butt... But our cabin crewmember was so sweet. He suggested pregnant-friendly activities like movies under the stars and night swimming when it wasn't so hot out and brought nice low-caffeine warm tea every morning for me. He really went above and beyond with making sure my husband and I were comfortable :)
    Excited to go on our next one in Nov 2022! This time I'll be able to enjoy everything the cruise has to offer!

    Our first cruise was on Celebrity to Bermuda and that was 25 years ago. I have traveled with Royal and Princess. I tend towards Princess because you can take time on your sea days to do some laundry. This means we can take fewer clothes with us and always look clean and pressed.

    Loved your comparisons. I’ve only sailed with Princess. Alaska was my 1st cruise with them & I fell in love with the ship, service, food & amenities. I’ve always been curious about Celebrity but hear they are more crowded & lots more kids, which is why I haven’t tried them. A couple things I really like on Princess is their app, easy to access & use with great information. You use the app to upload all your docs, check in, make reservations & much more. The medallion you are given is used to unlock your room door & pay for everything on the ship & in some ports. I don’t need to carry a purse or wallet! Lastly is the food on Princess. It’s high quality, incredible options & amazing speciality dining (The Crown Grill steakhouse is my favorite). I have a Princess cruise coming up in October & can’t wait to get back out on the water. Thanks again for your thoughts in this video!

    The Medallion and App on board service convenience was a huge plus for us! The new Princess Medallion Class ships are an updated look from their older ships.
    Our Winner, because of the Medallion Class, is Princess!

    We love both! We've done 2 Alaskan cruises on Princess (Sapphire and Ruby) -- We've done 2 on Celebrity and just booked our 3rd (1st to Virgin Islands on Solstice, 2nd to Alaska on Equinox, and in July a Western Caribbean on Edge.) Love the live music options on Princess -- usually some great jazz! Service is impeccable even at the buffet area. But I LOVE everything about Celebrity. And I'm a BIG guy, and most everything on a Celebrity ship seems bigger, roomier, and comfortable for me. Also, I'm a bit of a night owl, so a Princess ship goes to sleep way too early for me! That and we love Aqua Class on Celebrity! But you cannot go wrong with either one!!!

    • @stevehansen932
      @stevehansen932 3 года назад

      I love how there are more classes on Celebrity. I have been using concierge class but once my son is out of the house, 2 years, we are going to upgrade to Aqua. You cannot put 3 in an Aqua room. We are going to try Princess in 2023 but we have to save for a suite class. I really don't like the cattle call waiting inline. Maybe they will have self check-in by then.

    The best dining experience on Celebrity is Luminae. Yes, I know this is the suite only restaurant but the food & service is so fabulous you don’t need to even try the other specialty dining options. Keep up the great videos. Cheers 😎

      I concur; Celebrity's Luminae restaurant is outstanding. It has entrees not available in other restaurants. However, you can still order from the main dining room menu if you wish. Because it is limited to suite guests, one can eat breakfast or dinner when convenient. Also, Celebrity's smallest suites, the 251-313 sq ft "Sky Suites" offer affordable roominess.

    • @edwardh8853
      @edwardh8853 3 года назад +2

      @@tim_davidson6344 I couldn’t agree more! There is real value added with the Celebrity Sky Suite and all that’s included. I’ve been fortunate to have a Royal Suite on the Millennium and Equinox and while both cabins were great I’m just as happy with the Sky Suite category. Celebrity provides an elevated vacation experience that is comfortable and not at all stuffy. I also enjoyed ordering from Blu and the MDR while at dinner in Luminae. The staff is always so accommodating. Cheers 😎🚢

    What I loved about Celebrity is that they had all of us of higher status with cabins on the 8th deck
    With two people helping us in an office in the middle just as we got off the elevator. Any requests we had they took care of it for us. Most of the time were able to skip the long customer service lines downstairs. We were on the Constellation through Dubai, India, and Sri Lanka in February, 2020. And we were put on Emerites Air business class from the U.K. to Dubai at no extra charge.

    Great video, Ilana! We love Celebrity but we tried HAL because we heard great things... HAL was okay, but it showed us that if you love a cruise line, then stick with it. We think Celebrity excels at wine and food pairing. We always get the premium drinks packages and we like to book specialty restaurants - we have seen variation in Sommelier skills on Celebrity from excellent (choose between two wines (incl samples) with your entree / offering wines such as Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc, Mer Soleil Chardonnay, Decoy Cab, etc.) to good... We've got three Celebrity cruises in Aquaclass booked so that's our vote.

    I've been cruising with Princess for 30 years.(sailed aboard the original Love Boat, Pacific Princess) The newer ships of Princess & Celebrity are getting too big & overdone, imho. My favorite cruise line currently is Viking Ocean. They're a higher price point per diem, but the whole experience in terms of ships, food, service, crew, & atmosphere onboard is worth it. The Viking ships are small, only 48,000 GRT & only carry 930 passengers.

    I have done 7 Princess cruises over the years, although none in the last 12 years. Have done two Celebrity cruises and have the new Apex booked in September in Greece. I think that they are very comparable in terms of food, entertainment and general ambience, although Celebrity has a younger, more casual vibe. I used to enjoy putting on a tux for Princess, but, now I prefer the smart casual approach of Celebrity where I might wear a sports jacket in the evening in a specialty dining room, but, don't feel any pressure to dress up more than that. As you may recall, I prefer Viking overall, and I know it is a luxury line, so we aren't making apples to apples comparisons. Viking destinations, ambience, food and entertainment are all first rate so they remain my favorite. I do have Oceania booked at Christmas and New Years this year and I am really looking forward to their cuisine. I think you did a very fair evaulation of both lines and a tie between them is certainly a good result.

    I agree with all your votes. We are loyal Princess cruisers, but I did take one Celebrity Silhouette years ago with my girlfriend. I didn’t like Celebrity at first. I thought it was too understated, but it really did grow on me as the cruise progressed. One of my favorite things was their wine dispensing machines in their area that would be equivalent to Vines on Princess. You bought a debit card and then you self-dispensed a taste, a half glass, or a full glass of any of the wines. The wines were all priced differently and there must have been 100 to choose from. I come from California wine country so that was a big treat for me. On my cruise that area seemed underutilized by passengers so I don’t know if Celebrity even has it anymore. Do you know?

    Having done two Cruises on Celebrity and one cruise on Princess, I must say that I prefer Celebrity for the food and entertainment. But that’s not really fair because my Princess cruise was a while ago. So I’m giving Princess another chance next year on the Enchanted Princess which is a much newer ship. Really really looking forward to it.

    Great video as always! Regarding the itineraries, however, one thing that was missed is Celebrity’s expedition cruises; in fact, they even have a class of ships devoted to said expedition sailings. The Galápagos Islands, Antarctica, etc...that should give Celebrity a slight edge in the itinerary category, in my opinion.

    Wow Ilana, great video! Wife and I agree that it's a virtual tie. We love both lines. Might be our age and not needing the playground/amusement park stuff, but rather a concentration on the food and relaxation. Testing the waters on Summit in '17 and Royal Princess in '19, I dressed for formal nights in a dress shirt, tie and nice slacks. Absolutely no problem on either ship. Other nights were collared polo shirts and long pants. We are very anxious to try a revolutionized Celebrity ship and are looking forward to returning to Bermuda from Port Liberty at some point. Fingers crossed that Florida and the governor wake up and let Celebrity get back to the business of cruising without interference. Enjoying your channel. 👍👍👍

    Both lines are excellent. Although I am with Princess I agree with everything you say, Celebrity has great food, great dining experiences, innovative ships and cabins especially the infinite balcony. I find their ship common areas are more upscale modern hotel, like a Marriott. Our ships are more subtle, warm, and traditional but contemporary. I think our entertainment is better. Because we have 15 oceans ships to their 12, i.e. 25% more, we have more cruises, more itineraries and can offer longer cruises. They have the 3 expedition ships that go to the Galapagos etc, that's really excellent. Value wise, our price point is generally 15-20% less so you have to weigh whether its worth paying extra for the Apex over the Discovery for example. Celebrity has an excellent loyalty program.

    A lot of this comparison has changed in the last year. It would be interesting to re-do this analysis for these changes. For us, the Medallion Class makes Princess edge out Celebrity; being able to order online and not track down someone to take the order is a game changer. Also, it is easier to get free room service on Princess. Finally, both lines have drastically increased their total prices, but Princess seems to be slightly less expensive than Celebrity.

    We like Celebrity, but have also gone on Princess (and HAL, NCL) - each has its strong points. Our issue with Princess had solely to do with balcony discontent. The first time on Princess our balcony was large but overlooked by lots of people and we prefer privacy. The next time we booked on Baja and that was OK but we had to look down on other people. We did balcony guarantees twice on Royal Princess, but both times there were privacy and/or lighting issues from walkways below (others could see you lit at night if they looked, and from the balcony you couldn't see the water at night because of the glare.) I'm all about the water and the balcony, so those were disappointments. I have to be careful booking Princess. That being said, I remember both those cruises fondly for their itineraries and wonderful memories. Thanks for a great episode!

    Informative but I think that Princess wins greatly over itinaries and excursions. You have to book the cruise before Celebrity shows you the excursions and Princess and HAL shows them upfront with prices. I contacted Celebrity about this and told me that they won't show me excursions until I booked and prices would vary with dates , so I went with Princess even though I wanted to try Celebrity. For us, agenda's and excursions are very important Another deal breaker for us is that Princess has a lot of 21 and longer cruises while 14 days is one of the longest in Celebrity.

    Well, it's good. It's a hard thing to try to compare lines and lines are always changing. I have another category which is romance/music/dancing. I would say Princess wins here and especially I don't feel the Edge gets to romance outside of deck spaces under the stars and at sea and restaurants. But not so much music lounge ambiance. But Millennium and Solstice have it with some spaces. Still Princess may have more spaces for it.
    But per the ships, Celebrity is just as consistent up to the Solstice class. If you go Millennium to Solstice there is a familiarity with Solstice. And that style was retro modern but included tech and wild art. Edge seems to be trying for a younger clientele. And if you sailed on a "revolutionized" Millennium class vs. one that wasn't, then you don't see the wear in the cabin and elsewhere of the Millennium class ships (except non-refurbished areas).
    Food is so variable that friends that do both Celebrity and Princess, or still do now as some of my friends, like me, aren't cruising anymore, report that at any given time one is better than the other and both can slip pretty badly regardless of whatever ship you're on.
    Princess has a new ship class coming out whereas Celebrity's new ship will be the final Edge ship. So, will Princess change its style some. I think so. However, Princess won't likely delete popular spaces in their new class of ships their old ones had. As for suite passenger perks, I guess people may give the not to Celebrity as well. I'm not sure Princess will go as far as Celebrity did in their new class of ships.

      I had the same issue. I am looking into an Alaska cruise, and am having the hardest time choosing between Princess and Celebrity. I have a friend who loves cruising and swears by Celebrity, but at the end of the day, Princess has the better Alaska itinerary, in my opinion. So I'll likely go with Princess, or perhaps even Holland because both have an itinerary that takes you to Glacier Bay and Skagway, which are two "must haves" for me. Celebrity doesn't do Glacier Bay. I would definitely be open to doing a Celebrity cruise to a different region, some day.
