Teenage Dirtbag
Why would you play some random song and not the song your talking about?
Milkshake
Kelis should not have been on this list with Milkshake, it might have charted higher than Bossy. Technically, Bossy is the bigger hit in terms of actual sales. Milkshake only went Platinum, while Bossy went 2 times Platinum.
@@cherry560 after doing a little research the number one song didn't even go platinum. Was just super popular. At least according to Wikipedia. Personally for me milkshake should have been top 10 because I only knew 10 songs out of all these. 2 songs 20-11 and 8 songs 10-1. The list is about play time and popularity not albums sold and awards.
A Thousand Miles will forever be immortalised thanks to Terry Crews!
Oh my god, Britney!?
I was doing the headshake (you know where) as the video played it 🤣🤣
Hahaha
That's the ONLY way I want to see it!!! 😃
I was just about to say that.
2000s rock and metal music, scene, and subculture are what I love and miss about that decade the most
Stacy’s Mom is one of my all time favorite songs. I always listen to it to get pumped up for the day
The legends tells that whenever you hear A Thousand Miles u inmediatly see Terry Crews singing it in your mind.
The legends are wrong
Facts!!
Kind of like when you hear My lovin' your never gonna get it, you think of The Rock in a fat suit in a gym shower. But when I do hear that song I do think about Terry Crews and the film White Chicks.
yep
I'm a 2000's teen, and I remember many of these songs...😅👍
Same here!
Other One Hit Wonders did we missed:
Hoobastank - The Reason (2003)
Hinder - Lips of an Angel (2005)
Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars (2006)
Jet - Are You Gonna Be My Girl (2003)
Metro Station - Shake It (2007)
Baha Men - Who Let the Dogs Out? (2000)
etc.
Snow Patrol and Jet made other songs.
@@kendrarasberry3078 Especially outside of america.
Hoobastank more hits than the reason, but i would agreed it is their biggest hit. They are very underrated
Snow patrol one hit wonder nope
If you like Snow Patrol’s song Chasing Cars you should check out their song Run. I know it wasn’t as popular, but it’s a fantastic song.
Truly missed the 2000s...🤭🥺😎😎
2000's were pretty fun but the 90's still have it beat.
@@mikeawesome9212 I agree!
@@mikeawesome9212 The 70s have them both beat.
I really miss the 2000's, it was such a great decade to grow up in, because of the ever changing pace of the technological landscape
I work in a department store, and I am *cursed* to suffer either the Rickroll or A Thousand Miles. Either it plays throughout the store, or on the phone we use for Spotify in my department(I work in electronics). Drives me absolutely crazy
Seriously Bowling For Soup? They had lots of songs, and quite successful ones at that. Girl all the bad guys want was as big as 1985
and let's not forget their Phineas and Ferb catalog! They're awesome!
And they are still around, can't be a one hit wonder while still making music.
I checked the comments just to make sure someone brought this up. "Girl All the Bad Guys Want" was my introduction to Bowling for Soup
Can't forget highschool never ends and almost. Though girl all the bad guys want and trucker hat are the 2 best
@@michaelallen2677 and punk rock 101 that song is brilliant.
I used to like Stacy's Mom when I was a kid, just because of the beat and music. Then as I grew up I actually started paying attention to lyrics, now I can't listen to it without feeling awkward.
There was always something awkward about it for me but couldn't figure out what lol
I feel you on that 😂. Creepy song.
I was 15 so already knew
So much classic early 2000s music.
Did you take your name from Redwall?
@@julesstephenson8935 yes I did I took i from the red wall series . More special first sequel to the original red wall mattimeo which was the third book release chronological. Sadly with Jacques dead the series is dead outside of the fan fiction community. Mouse guard is the closet thing we know have to red wall it’s that our the cartoon series for red wall which didn’t last very long it was only three 13 episode season. It’s weird when it comes to franchise what they will all the suddenly they stopped making thing for a franchise the renew our rebuilt. They stop making red wall book after Jacques death . but then all of sudden one of the stream services buy the rights to bunnicula it ends up with a seven season cartoon series.
@@slagarcrue85 I thought it was from Mattimeo, but couldn’t remember for sure. I discovered Redwall through the animated series as a little kid, then started to read the books. I remember for sure reading Martin the Warrior, Redwall, getting most of the way through Lord Brocktree before I had to return it to the school library, and some of Mattimeo. I absolutely agree, it’s very unfortunate that he passed, I have loved that universe most of my life
A Thousand Miles always takes me back to my elementary years listening on the bus in the springtime. Oh, sadness…
A few of these were two hit wonders
Thank you so much for this list ! Many of those remain favorites of mine especially "Teenage dirtbag" which is legitimately one of my favorite songs and inseparable from my own early teenage years.
People are sleeping on Vanessa Carlton. Her song "White Houses" is my favorite song!
me too!!! that was a big hit!!
@@ultraviolettas Have you ever heard her song "Ordinary Day"?
Yeah she's not a 1 hit wonder at all
I graduated from high school in 2005. This entire list the soundtrack to my most formative years
Alien Ant Farm’s “Smooth Criminal” remake became one of my most favorite songs indeed.
Hello, can you visit my channel? I'm talking about movies
I blast it every time I hear it on the radio. It’s crazy good
How did Alien Ant Farm get the permission to have their own version?
I can't get into the original. AAF's version will always be my favorite.
Just bring me back so much nostalgia oh my gosh and instantly my favorite
These songs were everywhere n anywhere they still play them randomly on the radio to this day but when they was popping you were tv obsessed
Thank you for the feature guys! :)
I recently heard that Vanessa Carlton song while taking my kids out to dinner and it totally brought me back to where I was in 2002. Great list.
-Collide has one of the greatest lines "...I've found that I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind".
-Teenage Dirtbag- awesome story telling that 90% of us daydreamed about in school.
- Wondering if The Darkness is serious or not? I say try to play/sing it then tell me if it's serious. lol.
-Great pick on #1 !! I may be the only black guy to have that vinyl lol.
That piano in A Thousand Miles has been stuck in my head for a long ass time.
The Way she played the piano was Amazing, absolutely Beautiful.
@@stevenmorehead3322 Tell me if it isn’t in your head now.
@@SolCresta3405 Get out of my head lol I still play it
@@stevenmorehead3322 It’s a pretty good song.
Aww the nostalgia 🤣😭 I feel old this was my childhood.
Well Stacy's mom has still got it going on. Hell even her daughter might have also got it going on.
Sooooo
STACEY??
@@CodyRae11 also known as Stacey's Mom's Daughter
You know that song was actually written about the bassist of the band’s friend who was attracted to his grandmother when he was young?
By now, Stacy has very likely become a mom herself, so maybe she now has it going on like her mom still does.
Great video and I enjoyed it and have a blessed night
Teenage Dirtbag may just be that song that ticked all the boxes for angsty high schoolers of that era. Yet, I was still in middle school when I watched the video and heard this song on the radio, but I digress. But if anyone really feels old now, my suggestion is to check out The Story of Teenage Dirtbag on Vice's RUclips channel. You'll definitely enjoy it. The frontman of Wheatus appears throughout the episode. Won't spoil anything here. Happy watching!
My favorites of these are Stacey's Mom and Smooth Criminal. Several of these songs I honestly don't recall but they're good! Great List!
Wow, these songs take me back.
Bowling for Soup have an awesome library of songs!!!! Glad to see them get them some media coverage but they are on the wrong list lol
LOL 🤣 THANK YOU they are too well known for a one hit wonder list
I was going to say. They are far from being a one hit band :( they have some amazing songs
They basing it if billboard tip 40.
Love BFS
"While some of these artists had other hits..."
Doesn't that mean they aren't one hit wonders then?
That's exactly what it means.
i mean you can have multiple songs that are technically hits. a one hit wonder ahs one that stands out way more. they basically just known for that song despite having maybe another one or two hits that didnt reach the height of that hit.
One hit wonders are songs where the artist was in the top 100 billboard only one time usually.
@@raiden3013 Then that isn't a one-hit wonder. Vanessa Carlton has 4 top 100 hits. All but one of those made it to the top 50. That's 2 more in the top 50 than Jimi Hendrix ever had, but he isn't considered a one-hit wonder. Hell, he only ever made it to 20. Radiohead only have 2 in the top 50. Pink Floyd only cracked the top 50 twice. Nirvana only had 1 more song in the top 100 than Vanessa Carlton. Same with Village People.
Bowling for Soup had 3 top 100 hits. The Darkness had 3. Augustana had 2. Blu Cantrell had 2. 2 is greater than 1 last time I checked.
You probably think Rick Astley is a one-hit wonder too.
WatchMojo does this in a lot of their lists. They present distorted truths. I used to love this channel, but their research and misinformation is getting worse and worse.
@@jamvan2k Yes, that is true. And half of the people in this list have done so at least twice.
OMG Thanks for the video. I was looking for that one song, and I came out first. 1985. I always remember the video but fotgot the song. So Thanks. Now I all come together. Grtz from Belgium 🇧🇪
Hey there Delilah should be on the list
They really called Bowling for Soup a one hit wonder 🤦♂️
I think of the Phineas and Ferb song when I think that band lol
@@cmhsgrad02 For me it's The Girl All the Bad Guys Want.
@@cmhsgrad02 me too! They were basically the house band of Phineas and Ferb, I’m pretty sure they did all the music in the show as well. I mean aside from obviously if the characters were singing.
A one hit wonder is defind as a band that only had one chart topping hit that people still remember. Those groups can still be famous in other countries, they can still have other songs people remember, and they can still have good music careers. The general public doesn't know music from Phineas and Herb, nor did any of those songs top the charts lol.
Doesn't make any sense they are not a one hit wonder
You know you're getting old when Top 20s of your decade videos start getting made 😢😢😢
Srsly I just turned 21 two days ago feels like my youth just slipped away even though 21 is still young I find myself yearning for my childhood again
Man, there's something about the song "American Boy". For me, it's the type of song you keep falling in love with everytime cause it's so good
This song was playing on the radio right after my wife and I got married in city hall by ourselves (1witness). Great memories!
A.A.F. version of "Smooth Criminal" is among the best covers of all time. That's just me. Great list.👍💯💯💯✌️
What’s more important The Drop Kick Murphy’s in one of their tracks poked fun at the darkness
My 23yr old daughter just saw Bowling for Soup perform at a music fest yesterday, lol. She had a blast, brought me home a CD. She and her 20 yr old sister grew up listening to them sing the opening song for Phineas and Ferb.
I never understood why The Calling never had more than one hit. The kid was young, as handsome as they get, and with a voice beyond his years. You'd think that would be enough to at least get a solo album pushed.
I totally would have had, My Friends Over You, by New Found Glory on this list. Yes, they were pretty well known in the Pop-Punk Scene but My Friends Over You was really their only song to have widespread mainstream success. Just looking at on RUclips, My Friends Over You has like almost 5x the views of their next most viewed song.
A fun list of music for sure.
P.S. Guitars STILL rule the world.
Thanks a lot, i was looking for a playlist for jogging. You just gave me one.
Great!
There were few moments in a young boy's life like the first time seeing the music video for Stacy's mom
You know that song was actually written about the bassist of the band’s friend who was attracted to his grandmother when he was young.
Many girls don't know that Stacy's Mom is a real thing for boys that age. The mom of one of my friends was a real knockout. She really got me going before I even knew why!
I would add "Indigo-Girl". I know Watershed had other songs but only this one stuck to me over the years.
Yeah well it only stuck to you and thats why it's not on this list. As for it being on your own personal list I bet you would be working on the list and then not put it on there despite saying you would. That's the kinda person you are. 😉
@@mikeawesome9212 wow no need to take someone’s RUclips comment so deep over something trivial like this.
A thousand miles will forever be stuck in my head 😆😆
Can't get rid of it
still listen to most of these! wherever you go always reminds of christmas because it's featured in love actually
Some of this song I don't heared before just right now thank for posting it I'm gonna listen today.
The thousand miles is my favorite song and still playing on my phone and radio until this day love it.
Great List!!
Although I guess The Darkness technically only had one major hit you need to do yourself a favor and start listening to their discography. It's fantastic!! Best rock band of the past 20 years, hands down.
I remember hearing I believe in a thing called love but also Rock and roll deserves to die, which I guess makes them not a one hit wonder
Isn't "Love Is Only A Feeling" also a major hit?
I love it when bands play instruments I miss those days
The 2000s were college years for me. I get transported to back to frat parties and social gatherings hearing these. Good times.
Gnarls Barkley had two packed solid albums. So good.
Hi and good morning
Your first
@@spookysmansion2951 am not and it doesn’t matter
This is so good ! ^_^
Tweet is another singer who is best known for that one hit song (Oops), despite her having one other song hit the top 10.
Bowling for soup is a 1 hit wonder? Almost? 1985? Girl all the bad guys want? High school never ends?
Edit: how did I forget about Ohio (Come Back to Texas). Three of those songs are on the same album! One hit wonder my ass…
Great reviews and thanks for posting this and making me feel so old 😪
Bucket hats will ALWAYS be in style
This video has me wishing I could go back to the early 2000s and be a young teen all over again
Love that Augustana song. For Alien Ant Farm, I prefer Movies personally but they did a good cover of Smooth Criminal.
They didnt.
"Top 10 One Hit Wonders You Forgot About" - Literally everyone remembers Stacy's Mom. "Top 20 Best One Hit Wonders of the 2000s" - yeah, let's add that in there too XD
just a good time to time travel back to 2000's 😊
I swear to God that you have uploaded this video three times in less than 4 months in some other way or form
1985?
I thought "Girl all the bad guys want" was better known.
Great list
When you realize that "Bowling for Soup" was the band behind the Phineas and Ferb OST..
Chasing Cars was a good One Hit Wonder of the 2000's. Hopefully it makes it into the next OHW of the 2000's list.
Bowling For Soup are certainly not a one hit wonder band
All great songs. Good list. I probably would put Wheatus a little higher on the list, because millions of us have felt like a teenage dirtbag at some point of our teen lives. Remember high school freshman and a part of sophomore year, I kinda felt like that until at one dance, which I reluctantly attended, was asked by this popular senior girl for a dance and later exchanged numbers, I nervously asked her for a date a week later and she said yes, we ended up dating until she went off to college, but I found out from that experience that many of the cool crowd that I once looked up to and thought were amazing, had the exact same insecurities as the rest of us. Think we all can relate to that song
Ey yo? BFS? nah they got highschool never ends, punk rock 101, girl all the bad guys want
I need to see a Top 10 artists from the 2000s who fell off the map list. (Lifehouse, shinedown, etc)
Damn those were the times!!! 😁😁😁 Timeless music.
Further proof that rock/metal is the “GOAT” of music. They all put up more than one banger
There are still so many songs but this was a great list to relive my 20s
Narrator: "[Story about a girl] takes you back to the time of cargo shorts."
Me: *awkwardly stares at my cargo shorts* Guess I'm a little late when it comes to wearing cargo shorts...
I can still listen to Still Believe in a Thing Called Love. Younger always thought "When's the next song coming out for them" 😆
Apparently I forgot to listen to music for an entire decade because I only recognized 5 of these songs and they were all in the top 10.
Estelle being at the beginning is completely ignoring all the bangers she has from Steven Universe lol
Yes! finally someone gave
The Darkness : I Believe in a Thing Called Love. credit for being such an awesome f****** song. 😊
Unless they only had one hit, it's not a one hit wonder. Every band has a most well known song.
Blu Cantrell had a major hit with Breathe, featuring Sean Paul. Hardly a "one hit wonder".
I was thinking the same and also Kelis had another major hit following Milkshake with Trick Me, think we've got two hit wonders
Thank you so much for reminding me of that song. Was my favorite at the time
the darkness, fountains of Wayne and bowling for soup aren't one hit wonders
Same for Alien Ant Farm. "Movies" was pretty big for them too.
Vanessa Carlton had other hits also.
My favorite songs on the list =
1985
I Don't Wanna Know
Bulletproof
Smooth Criminal
I Believe in a Thing Called Love
Stacy's Mom

... and Collide 🤷
Not only do I freaking love that song, but I literally did not know any of the others on the list!
I mean, smooth criminal of course... But that doesn't really count when it was MJ
@11:39 - #8 The Calling - Wherever You WIll Go: First time I heard this song was from a commercial for the (at the time) new Star Trek show, Enterprise (Headlined by Quantum Leap star, Scott Bakula). It was a FANTASTIC tune to go along with the visuals in the show's commercial the producers laid out, and will forever be associated with the franchise in my head.
Why would anyone turn down Weird Al's offer to parody their song? That's a sign you've made it.
My favorite use of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" was in Bill Maher's "Religulous" to introduce scientology.
Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy' could have been used for any religion, most of all Judeo-Christianity.
@@Kentrc11 True, but the representative of scientology that was on the screen when "Crazy" started playing made it that much better and funnier.
Estelle isn’t a one hit wonder ! She had another hit on the R&b charts called “thank you “ it was produced by Akon!
She's also had hits with Sean Paul (Come Over) and Tarrus Riley (Love Like Ours). Plus she had quite a few hits in the UK before America -1980 is one of her biggest hits!
This has got to be a regurgitated list... there is no way that this hasn't been done before.
Nice!
Kelis should not have been on this list with Milkshake, it might have charted higher than Bossy. Technically, Bossy is the bigger hit in terms of actual sales. Milkshake only went Platinum, while Bossy went 2 times Platinum.
The tune that keeps switching back in every time a clip ends is UNBEARABLE. Like some sort of torture.
