this was the battle that got me caught up into the whole bboy/hip hop culture!! used to see this battle playing on vhs at the flea market!!! sick! sick!!!
Never has there been a more influential dancer like B-Boy Ivan, under my radar. He is so full of character, it's always a damn pleasure watching him move to the music. Very fast and energetic.
@frogslife1 Hey fellows this is LilCesar from AFC. Ozrock gave me the first Helmet in 1984. I started practicing and practicing. at first it was uncomfortable it was a weir feeling then I find out that it was a better material to spin better then a beanie or my bare head. I started noticing that I was loosing my hair and I had a crazy ball-spot. some people say i was cheating but when they tried it. they realize it wasn't easy. is not about cheating is about a choice and being smart.
6:11-6:20 is the most underrated shit on this video. it's not all about the power moves. Ivan's up rock is clean asf!!! Some of these cats need to get off the ground once in a while
Some good stuff in this video. Its epic to me. The kid with the helmet in all black. And the dude with the head band thats about to set it off. He looks familiar like he taught muay thai at house of champions. Much love to lil caesar, he`s in the book of b-boys.
Those Nike cortezes Renegades was rocking along with the spandex? No bueno for a wet floor. Respect to both crews. StylElements adapted to all elements and took the prize. I do gotta say Jazzy J was ahead of his time as far as power moves go.......
lol at the guy who just plops himself in the middle of the floor at the end haha. I think that guy with the white head band was the best. Very clean and professional.
The reason the guy plops himself in the middle of the floor like that is because when Jazzy hit that combo he and everyone else knew it was over. The rounds after that was just window dressing...
@RTONYO are you talking about the guy in the white helmet with all black?I call him moi/junior these days but i dont know what he went by back then. thats cool this battle was so important to the bboy scene tho. @Marcos Galaz do you think you could send me a link to or upload the orig. footage of the whole battle? if you cant its ok tho.
yo i need some help on a clip from a radiotron vhs i had. i know right after a scene with africa bam bata is shows a b boy in black addidas jump sute hitting windmills to halos , ther is a sick violin trak in the back ground any one know what im talking about. /??i want the vol # or song title. thanks.
1:21 He accidentally performed an airflare cause his hands slipped away. Im pretty confident that he did it by mistake, airflares werent invented back in 1996.
So ivan ran with Style Elements huh? That's a fun fact that i didn't know.. But who were all the members of both Renegades and Style Elements from around this time?
@pberrios0223 that bboy ivan urban action figure, the best at that time.he would take on a hole crew when he was at his prime, nobody could hang with ivan.
Actually Jazzy was the best at the time in the 90s. He used to take on whole crews and nobody could hang with him. He also went up to Modesto (Ivan's hometown) and won a tournament called Legends to be the Future of Street Art.
I remember this battle. Very hot and humid inside. Reasons why they stopped the battle to bring in fans amd dry floor. Not to mention you all brought the wrong Kicks amd gear. Nike Cortez with spandex? Great battle tho. This is one of the battles that put style over power on the map.
this was the battle that got me caught up into the whole bboy/hip hop culture!! used to see this battle playing on vhs at the flea market!!! sick! sick!!!
YEAH YEAH. IT WAS AMAZING experience to witnessing this two dynamics crews.. It created a new wave for generations to come..
6:10-6:24 is some of the the sickest shit I've seen on a dance floor.
Never has there been a more influential dancer like B-Boy Ivan, under my radar. He is so full of character, it's always a damn pleasure watching him move to the music. Very fast and energetic.

Nah bro that's my favorite part of the video and my favorite song
That part of the video has aged the best. Goes to show that there is too much focus on other aspects with respect to tops.
thanks..been looking for that for quite a while also
B Boy Ivan brought me here. 6:10-6:51 is the cleanest shit in this battle imo.
You can see how slippery the floor was. Even though, they killed it.
