I would love seeing capsule wardrobes based on other colors than black or perhaps some frivolous gray ...
Red, brown, blue, green, or actually using multiple colors that match.

Yes please! I look better in colors and have been addicted to prints over the years, so my wardrobe really needs help to get to a point where I can create outfits easily. As a result, I keep going for dresses, because it's easier to put together an outfit.

You've really helped me in my journey to edit my closet/update my style. The biggest takeaway is that it takes time. It would be easy to discard a lot and buy items for your new capsule wardrobe, but NO, that is not the answer! I'm giving myself some time to use what I have and really define what I need, so that the eventual purchase is meaningful. With each of your videos, I learn something new, thank you!

Me too! I’ve really realized that it takes time and should be slow. I used to always just toss stuff and then would feel guilty or have regrets. Now, I’m trading for higher quality or needed items, or donating and being mindful about what I keep and where things go.

So true I have been wanting to limit my wardrobe for about a year now and I have just been going through my clothes every 2-3 months and looking at what have I not worn since last time I did this. And the last two times I have ended up with 2 donations bags for my local thrift shop, given some if those donations weren't clothes some of it was bedding and old toys and such.
While clearing out my wardrobe to a reliable reusable place I am also getting new outfit pieces that are more use able for multiple purposes. And I'm doing it but I'm doing it slowly. My wardrobe is no where near small enough to be considered a capsul wardrobe yet but I'm proud of it.

I am a teenager and I have a anxiety disorder and I started to declutter. I started with some schoolwork and, then moved on to drawings and then.... my closet. It was a mess I had still clothes from middle school and, it was overwhelming. Now after a few weeks I actually donated 5 bags of clothes and, have a closet of around 53 Items left. I still try to go trough them a lot because I keep a lot in the maybe pile but, after this whole process I felt way more relaxed and, my anxiety became less and,it’s way easier to make outfits for school but, also for formal moments
    Thank you for inspiring me.❤️

Before I knew what capsule wardrobes were, I was not only in that cycle of producing waste, but my style just felt like something that made me feel younger than I actually was. Going through the process at the time wasn't easy, but when I look back on it now, I feel like this idea of choosing style over fashion and being more minimal has helped me to grow up and become more of an adult. Thank you for always being a source of positivity and inspiration, Signe!

I am very motivated to get my capsule started after watching your video. Unfortunately, I have over 40 items in shoes/boots alone so this will be difficult for me. I'm a little on the hoarding side and will definitely have a problem letting go of things that I have an emotional attachment to (almost everything I own). Currently, my clothes occupy two large bedroom walk-in closets and most things in the closet still have price tags on them. Having said that, I will follow your guide and get it done! Wish me luck! :)

I applaud you for your commitment, dedication and steps forward towards doing the right thing, following through on how you wanted to positively influence the fashion industry! I love your channel and completely agree with choosing sustainable, timeless fashion and your channel is so encouraging! I feel that my story is very similar actually, choosing to go to school in healthcare and finding that I wanted to instead encourage others towards a healthy lifestyle. Work more in a preventative space, encouraging health and wellness, verses treatment in pharmaceutical- only based care. This resulted in me needing to change my path as well and that process wasn’t all that easy. Your story was very encouraging, thank you for sharing!

So cool that you have done this. I'm 47. When I was 17 and at college studying beauty therapy, I used to love going to Brighton and looking for nice clothes to wear out and at college. The trouble was I used to get fed up with some clothes and naturally wear more of certain types of clothes. I think it was more of a financial choice that I used to gravitate towards black tops and blue jeans or white or grey instead of more fashionable items, I used to feel fed up that the new top I got excited about was not fashionable after a month or so. I've been dressing in a more capsule way since. I wear a uniform to work so that four days of the week sorted. It makes financial sense too as well as environmental.

It's so nice that you're caring and non judgemental, I think some channels are like that too, but in the comments it feels like people are too quick to judge others, be negative or just preach like we're not doing it right.. it's much more welcoming here.
I realize I have such a long way to go, it can be off-putting at times, overwhelming I guess. I've accumulated so much crap, tried this and that with new seasons, I'm not the worst, but I've not been intentional with all my purchases, or I've thought "it'll do" only to find it just doesn't work long term.. I've held on to things, I have wasted money, time, energy, and now emotion. It's just time to let it go, and be grateful I've realized now I guess, better late than never as they say. Thank you for being uplifting to others x

Hi Signe, thanks for a great video on the basics! I counted my WHOLE wardrobe, all seasons, and came up to abt 70 pieces in total. I've been living with an "unconscious" capsule wardrobe, wearing some favorite pieces over and over. Now I'm excited to start creating a conscious capsule with more focus color, texture and fit. I mostly shop 2nd hand, it's become such a good habit. It's really interesting how when I wrote down what I'm looking for, I became aware of my lack of focus when shopping. Really good to reflect and become clear on what I'm looking for.

I have a colourful capsule wardrobe. My rule is to only get autumn colours such as emerald green, burgundy, mustard, navy etc. That way I feel like I do not have to think about what colours go together, because all of these tones complement each other well... It works even when I wear more than two colours. My neutrals are black and gray.

Back in the 60's and 70's when I was a kid, my sister and I shared one small closet for school clothes and we each had a chest of drawers for everything else. My parents had the same size tiny closet as my sister and me and one dresser for both to share. We had plenty of room. Now I look at my huge closet and wonder when the fashion gluttony began. I only shop a couple of times a year. My problem is never getting rid of anything, but I'm working on it and making progress. Thank you for your inspiring videos!

Such an important message and video… I’m ready to view the fashion documentary as difficult as it’s going to be- having full understanding of fashion from design to consumption is how I’ll find my sweet spot and discipline with clothing and personal style. So appreciate your expertise - I’m new to your channel, found thru Alyssa and Christina’s channels- thank you for your generosity and valuable insight 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Watching your channel has really helped me to begin letting go of a lot of things I don’t need in my life, and it has been a great weight lifted from my shoulders. Now, I just wish I could get rid of all the useless handbags I have. I have control over my clothing, but I’ve accumulated years of accessories, and it is quite overwhelming.

Thank you - Covid19 is getting boring at home, so here I go and then I will have to wait for the charity shops to reopen to then donate. I have watched it all and it goes well the slower way of life being mindful, purposeful and at peace with oneself.

Good tips. I like everything on hangers, too, because I don’t have much shelf space and I use that for shoes. I move things in and out of storage on hangers (I’m fortunate to have a spare closet), so I don’t have to re-iron everything. I also air-dry my clothes, on hangers, or flat for sweaters, with a fan going, which cuts drying time in half and uses much less energy than my dryer. I batch my laundry so that socks can go in in the dryer when I do use it, for sheets and towels.

Signe, have you ever done a video on rebuilding a wardrobe after weight loss. I’ve got 25 more pounds to drop and I’m actually excited to start from scratch at some point even though I literally have built out my current wardrobe…lol. I look forward to starting over and having a little project but coming from a more informed place with all of your help. Thank you 😊❤👖👚🧢👗

Also a coloured capsule isn't very hard to make. As a French, I love neutrals (white, grey, denim, navy blue, dark, brown or black) and also a pop of colour (red, coral, bright or light blue, some green, pink, tan) that go well with my own colouring (blue eyes, blond hair, like you). My trick is to associate a neutral and a colour in my outfit. It's so easy, and also practical when travelling.

Hi there. You and other girl on You Tube changed my perception for clothing. I used to do impulsive shopping or buying dress for every occasion, also I loved sales and cheap materials. This way my wardrobe was full of crappy tops, overstreched jumpers and not fitting denim jeans... Thanks to you and Emma Hill, here on You Tube I started to do more intencional shopping and rather invest in one nice jumper than 3 crappy ones. I stopped all those colorfull and printed tops as I found out that with age they dont suit me anymore but because I didnt get much of wear I still kept them. Now I give it to my family or friend or try to resale it and I really think twice before I buy something. Do I really need next pair fo shoes? When I'm gonna wear it? How can I pair it with my other clothes?ect.. I also found out that my preffered style is quite simple... The simplest the better I feel... For example I will never wear sparkly heels even now, in festive season, I just go for my plain black ones which I can wear for number occasions. For some people my style is boring but I don't care as long as I'm happy when look in the mirror. Over last year I managed transform my wardrobe and I'm still in process. You helped a lot. Thank you

Thank you for doing a video on this. I have never been into fashion but find it fun and interesting now. However, I have difficulty working on a capsule wardrobe because, by choice, I am flat chested after two mastectomies. Now that I have a bit of a belly and a larger rib cage most clothing does not look good on me. I love dresses but don't wear them because of that reason too. Could you maybe find someone who has built a capsule wardrobe after losing her breasts and would have some tips for me? I love colorful clothing AND very basic natural colors too. Thank you. ❤

Great video!Thank you for this brilliant presentation! The only thing I personally don't and wouldn't do is use an app or technology to combine my clothes and shoes. I do get why people do this, and I am not judging, it's just that my generation has learned to use our own skills instead of the internet etc for about anything... Everything stored on the internet uses energy and that's not good for the planet, so I prefer to just use my brain and eyes to do this, as it is one of the benefits of having a capsule wardrobe is that combinations are much easier than if one has a huge, uncoordinated wardrobe.
