I don't know, I think there is something cool about the older captain handing "command" over to the new young leader while still being a part of the core leadership for a while as opposed to a new captain being named because the previous one got traded or walked in free agency. It's like Vito handing over 'the family' to Micheal. I feel like having the passed to me by the previous guy would feel like an even bigger honor than just getting because the spot is open.
I hear a rumors that it was in 34s contract that he would be captain so they had to being the new contract kicked in also was a big sticking point in the negotiations
The Leafs should continue with regular season successes by changing their Captain. That is encouraging. With this Core 4 however - how can the Leafs expect a playoff run - even after going 20 years without one? 😀
Leadership matter s, coaching matters even more. Played high level soccer and basketball good coach ok results, great coach, finals and championship s, system s, preparation, line ups etc matter, even more at the top level. Go Leafs Go!!!!

That last bit is relating more to his lack of leadership (even in his previous role as a non-captain role) during past playoff series. Keep hyping....but who are going to be the ones disappointed come the day after their ousting out of another first-round playoff series....all of you that are doing and buying into this hyping.
