We'll see, right?`Mitch and JT don't always compliment each other, as we've seen. Conversely, they've had some extremely successful runs as linemates, and the prospect of Cowan is super exciting! I love it, but I'm gonna be cautiously optimistic!

Mitch and JT both want to stay in the GTA and are on contract years..... they will both have near-record years.

It was time to pass the torch. Leafs are hoping that wearing the C will amp up Austin to the point where he actually gives a sht whether they win or not. Time will tell... I did see some brief flashes of intensity and hatred of losing from him last season, but not much in the playoffs. Tough situation for JT, but he's a big boy, he can handle it.
I think Marner should not wear an A and the reason is he doesn’t handle the media well. He was stirring up some unnecessary combative quotes last season and it didn’t look good on him. I hope it’s not a distraction that is impacting his play on the ice, but it could well be. The fanbase clearly is turning on him a lot on top of that. The Leafs fanbase always have to find one player they just turn on and it’s really annoying to me. Marner should focus on playing well and be appearing less in front of the media. I am tired of the dumb questions he has to give non-answers to every single time as well. Tavares was really not good with his media answers either. Rielly gives the best media answers on the team. Matthews has a very laid back personality but he does not always like every question from the media, but I’m hoping he handles it well as Captain and I am sure he will do a good job as captain.
The only question is does he handle the presser after loosing in the first round differently having the C. 😂😂

With the changes on the back end, the addition of Stolarz (who doesn't get hurt, is a big man, and is very athletic), Marc Savard who will enforce change on the powerplay, all this points to an essential make over. Marner will have the best year of his career. Tavares will play well. They are in a contract years. Marner was not 100% last playoff and was doing what Keefe wanted him to. We will see a different player in the playoffs. He will resemble what he looked like when under Babcock without the secretive coercion. This is a different team with the same star power. This star power with a better power play record and better goaltending will be unarguably way more successful.
