Ian responds with a "love the sinner, not the sin" line, but given Ian's information at that time, thats an incorrect assumption.
(We later find out the preacher is indeed prejudice against homosexual people in general).
The quote" rapists, thieves, and homosexuals shall not inherit the kingdom of god" is true. (Mostly)
A few other editions of the bible (there arent a whole lot of variants of the old & new testament) dont even mention homosexuality.
However they do all mention "sexual immorality (sex outside of wedlock) with mankind"
Which could be where some translations get mixed up.
Ian doesn't rebutt that using the translation argument, which makes the argument he used worthless.
He once again uses the wrong quote to push against the "sexual immorality bad" argument (probably bc the preacher is homophobic and associates homosexual, "married" sex, as immoral)
Cameron's character only responds with "love your neighbor as yourself. Which does speak about being tolerant of other peoples sinful missteps, but does NOT encourage premarital sex.
I'm pretty positive homosexual attraction and intercourse under marriage arent sins, but the protagonist of this show didnt really prove that very well.
Prob bc the writers thought a "bible quote battle" would be cool.

Lynden Sterling My opinion: I don't know if I believe in god or not. (still finding myself) but I believe that everyone should be allowed to be who they are. And you should accept it. To me, god's like Santa Claus. You can't see him, apparently, Santa Claus is impossible. Like it could never happen. He's magical. People have told stories about him for generations, same with god. So how do we know that God isn't just one big story passed down from generation to generation? We honestly don't have any proof that God exists. To me, the bible never happened. Adam and Eve don't make any sense. Virgin Mary doesn't make any sense since we know how to reproduce for hundreds of years now. So that is one big story. You have the right to believe whatever you want. But it doesn’t matter even if there was an afterlife with God, no one on earth would know except the person that died. So I guess it’s all one big mystery. I don’t even believe science created all this. Every single thing that could possibly create life doesn’t make any sense honestly. Mickey Milkovich Is My Spirit Animal cool the way I've come to accept things is everyone one will do what they want no matter what. Humans are selfish that includes me. There is a right and wrong. Jesus was/is as real as anyone and the message he had exists on the earth. That's why belief or faith is the most significant and reoccurring aspect of life so getting to know why faith is so important is just the natural progression. Sin is pontent and powerful and something that you should steer away from but when we do it's not the end of the world and you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of when you are a Christian and understand what calvary means sorry i hate long comments I'll cut it short. To sum it up, everything happens for a reasons and you sift thru life looking for why as a Christian i can say belief in Jesus is key but disbelief is understandable and unfortunately just going to church and being a Christian won't holistically solve everything
