    So this is the Soundboks Gen 4, it's a super durable bluetooth speaker that sounds better and is more power efficient than its predecessor. But today we’re going to see how the Soundboks Gen 4 stacks up to both the JBL Partybox 710 and the Sony XV900. Two large portable Bluetooth speakers that are also very loud and they have built in light features… but they aren’t as durable.

    Super awesome review brother! I bought the JBL 310 with 2 wired JBL mics for my baby girl's birthday. We want to sing karaoke over her favorite songs. I want her to feel what it's like to project your voice in a mic paired with a decently powerful speaker. Back in my days, I was singing with a mic plugged in a guitar Amp...it was not ideal, the guitars and drums were pretty much always drowning my voice output 😂

      we just recently downgraded to jbl PB710 from jbl PB1000. the physicality is very noticeable, but that's why we got it - to have less complaints from the carehome residents we're serving. i spent good amount of time to professionally tune both speakers, with pb710 tuned to genelec 8030a + mono or middle clarity expanded on bongiovi dps app; while the pb1000 favors being tuned to audioengine a2-hifi + wide expanded or middle clarity expanded to achieve their most natural sounding output. the pb710 responds well with plugins like the crystallizer.
      i'm a bit disappointed with the pb710 at first. however, its sound signature is better on the treble region, but the separation on the pb1000 is better, i guess, due to its downward firing subwoofer and compression driver to handle the upper regions of your music. we're using them outdoors for karaoke and we're blocks away from the nearest neighbors so we do have some freedom with the volume. i'll update once we have tested daisy-chaining both of them.
      i did pull the trigger and spent the extra $800 for the pb710 just to settle this issue because of some people on youtube saying that its better that the pb1000, they must have compared them on stock EQ to come to that conclusion. after owning both now, i say the bigger pb1000 is definitely better, although both their sound imaging profile is not quite as pleasant compared to our diamondboxx L3 hooked with a diamondboxx PAsub15.
      i hope this helps answer some of your questions.

      not sure if it has any app support or stuff like that to change eq. I found one just in gym and listened some songs on it and it definetely has more wall shaking bass than 710 that I own myself and it probably gets louder than 710 as some reviews has told. But I can modify the sound on 710 with eq more for own taste and 1000 sounded kind a bad on some songs because there so much bass lol but that might be plus for some people. Also 1000 is taller than 710 and 710 was perfect fit for trunk. It literally is perfect size. I probably like the sound on the 710 more than 1000 because of the eq. 710 definetely more versitale. I'm still biased towards 710 haha you probably can't go wrong with any jbl product

      the pb1000 has no support, but that doesnt worry me, there are other ways to get there. if you tune them correctly, i'm leaning towards the pb1000 having more potential or headroom. we normally use youtube quality audio files (using ogg opus [variable bitrate] or vorbis [fixed bitrate] or mp3 320-kbps which will distort. i will use flac files this coming week on both just to verify, thats the advantage of owning both, you can test them anytime. although bottomline: hearing is subjective, you do ( or spend on) whatever makes you happy.

    Will the speaker with say 5W RMS get damaged if paired with an 80W RMS speaker using TWS option/technology, of course with a single source at maximum volume, like an MP3 Player or a smartphone? Or will both play at their respective maximum volume level without any damage?

    • @JViello
      @JViello 4 месяца назад +2

      They will play at each respective level. Each can only output what it can. The TWS doesn't supply any power, just signal gain. The 5w speaker is driven by a 5w amplifier and that's that. Yes you can overdrive it into oblivion, but that's any amplifier anywhere. Where you might have a problem is the TWS. It's very specific with JBL products, just FYI.

But I can't approve it myself, that's what I heard from different reviews which were in german language. Many reviewer don't suggest to exchange the soundboks 3 for the soundboks 4 since it's not worth it. Hope this helps.

    I know these videos are older, but in case someone is still doing some research...This is a total game changer for the PB710. Purchase a small "solar generator" for AC power. (Call it what it is; a powerbank.) I have one about the size of an ammo can (400 *watt* hour) and it will run twice as long as battery run time in this test and give you full AC speaker wattage output. If you carry a second battery for the SB4, what's the difference? I had a larger "generator" I brought to an outdoor bday/dance party at a open field park w/gazebo. I had 2 PB310's and 2 PB100's banging for 3 hours and used less than 25% of the powerbank. It's a 1050 watt hour unit. Definitely on the larger size compared to my small one, but I probably could have kept the party going 12 hours with no problem. WAY more if I hooked up the 500w solar panel while it was running.

      @@LukeR1M And alien technology to make small 5, 6 7 inch speakers dig as deep and loud as 12 or 15 inch drivers. I'm only half kidding. I have been building speakers since a kid...literally, I used to take cardboard boxes when I was 11 and make speakers and haven't stopped. There is usually no real mystery how speakers work. You have your normal trade off's so you find what works best for the application. You take the T/S parameters, and you can graph just about any driver in any kind of box before leaving the computer. These drivers are doing what small drivers are not supposed to, play loud AND deep. You can get a 3 inch driver to play deep, but it won't be very loud before it runs out of xmax. When I can light up a whole neighborhood with 4 5.25" drivers banging out bass and treble like I've got compression horns going (2 PB 100's), uh...alien technology.

      I wouldn't call JBL muffled. It's just that the bass is quite overpowering vs mids and highs. Easily fixable with the EQ, just bring up the mids and highs just a notch and maybe even lower bass and it sounds even better IMO.

      The SB is just a midbass/highs cabinet you'll find in any pro sound set up. Designed to roll off below 60-80hz, but throw voice and highs far and through the crowd. The subs pick up the bottom end except in this case...they are missing. It's really easy to get mid-bass and compression drivers to play loud. They are not doing ANYTHING special. JBL is the one using alien technology. Getting small drivers like that to play LOUD down to 35hz, and getting non compression drivers to throw highs long distances is just a friggin mystery and breaks all the established norms in speaker building.
