This virus situation has me browsing old youtube videos. I've got 55992, one of the two Royal Mail ones, and I absolutely love her. No detail or performance issues, runs perfectly on DCC. Haven't tried coupling anything to her though. I look forward to being home tomorrow night so I can run my home layout again
For some reason I've always had an interest in the really obscure locomotives. One might not be surprised to learn that I got tempted into getting myself a 128 not long after I saw this video. I have heard of these models already, but I didn't realize Hattons were selling them for a stupidly good price.
I'm not sure if anyone else knows about this, but the 128 wasn't the only class of diesel parcels unit built for BR. There was another type called the Class 129. Only three 129's were ever built, entering service around the same time as the 128. The 129's had a cab that looked very similar to those of the Class 105. Sadly the 129's only lasted about 13 years in service, being withdrawn in 1973. I think it would be cool to see a 128 in preservation. Since they can't carry passengers, they could instead have a small museum built in the former luggage compartment.
Me too actually - I do love the obscure ones! I can certainly recommend these -on balance, they're not too bad for the money! Don't think I've heard of the 129 before - that's very interesting! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
The Trainspotter From Tauranga the oldest 129 M55997 went into departmental use after withdrawal, being used as a test-lab unit and named Hydra. Sadly, she was withdrawn and cut up for scrap at the famous Vic Berry’s yard in Leicester in 1986.
I always found the Cravens trio ( M55997-99) the most attractive of all the dpus ..Virtually identical to the BR standard BG. For some reason The three were camera-shy! Does anyone know of Cravens cab ends produced that could be fitted to a model BG, or, a "short-frame"( 57ft) rTR single car dmu chassis?
They are multiple units, they could and did operate in multiple with similar units, and occasionally passenger units. More often seen pulling a parcels van though.
that packaging was amazing, almost as if ready to ship over seas, plus its not going to fall out of the package ice block with that side pull off part, very well done this heljan packaging ppl also yay to the shout out, the only 2nd channel to do so well i'm sure others have but this is the first time on here!
Hi there, thanks a lot for the comment - glad you liked the 128!! I'll have a think about what other themed series I can do - though it probably will be weeks rather than months in the future, hehe! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Sam just wondering if you might have any of the other Heljan , class 14, 15 16, 17, and the 28. I also bought one at this price , minus the VAT. could not pass it up. Regards John from Oz.
Hi John, no I've not tried those as of yet - the only other Heljan I have so far is the class 26! Oh yeah for sure - such a great price really! All the best, Sam :)
I have two of these one in blue and one in red. I had one of the sand filler boxes off the axle which I needed to reglue but that was it. I can't say I had the issue with the couplings though? I have 2nd and 3rd and have pulled a similar wagon with mine and had no problems. Weird?
Ooh very nice - I think the one in red is really lovely! That is odd - but I did notice that the different models have different end details - the red one, for example, is different I beleive! All the best, Sam :)
Great video mate :) a shame that you had to take some off the buffer beam and about the pickups :( loved seeing the layout with some of the lights off!! I had no idea some of the buildings have lights In them! Looking forward to some steam locos, feels like forever since you last ran some :) -all the best mate
Thanks a lot mate - yeah that's a shame, but it's okay now (I hope!) haha yeah it's always had lights - just very hard to notice them with all the lights on!! :D I'm looking forward to steam again too!! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
You know what, I think it would be nice to send a picture of the American A4 Dwight D Eisenhower since I can snap a picture after my shift working there.
Thanks a lot - yeah I should definitely do that more! A US diesel would have been great, but I just don't own any of them (I do own two, but I've reviewed them both already!) Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Wow! The detail on that was sublime. However, I have gone sour on Heljan. I don't believe the mods you had to do to get that 128 to run right. I never would have figured out the derailment issues. You were clever with that. The running session was fun. I enjoyed it.
OOH! Heljan, now this is classy, can't believe you actually managed to get one. I know that I missed basically the entirety of diesel month (sorry), I had exams (still have one more). Have you seen their steam locos. They are one of the only companies that make the 1300 pannier tanks. I recommend getting the class 17 or 48-50. Too bad about the damn buffer beam (as well as the separate parts), that seems really shit for Heljan standards. Apparently the class 128's had fuel efficiency problems, reports say that they gobbled fuel like monsters and no one was willing to invest in them for that reason and that reason alone. Slow speeds for most of the engines in Heljan are pretty good, especially there class 40's boy they are good. Sorry could not recognise half of the diesels (I guess diesels aren't really my thing), Heres to me watching more videos Cheers Avi
Thanks Avi - yeah I thought they looked pretty classy too, so I thought I'd try one! That's okay mate - I really hope your exams have gone okay, and that you're last one is fine too! Ahh okay - well those problems probably were partly responsible for them all being scrapped pretty quick then? That's okay mate... more steam coming soon! :D Cheers, Sam :)
Very nice engine the desgin reminds a bit to the Class 28 "Metrovicks" You should obtain a BR Class 28 its an awesome diesel engine because of his rareness they only oppered in the Midland Region and were based in Barrow-in-Furness Curious Fact:One Metrovick apparead in The Railway Series his name was BoCo and its also a very popular character in Thomas and Friends
Thanks mate - ooh nice, I'll have to look that one up! I think the 28s look fab too, so I'll try to find one! Thanks for the fact on BoCo - I have seen him before!! :D Cheers mate, Sam :)
Sam I neeed some help none of my trains can pull my cleaning car without wheel slip and I can't use 2 because they go at different speeds at the same amount of throttle can you recommend a powerful and heavy locomotive to pull my cleaning box car
Hmmm... you probably want a nice slow runner for that... so most of the Heljan locos should be good for it, or possibly the Bachmann 08 shunter is pretty good for that?? :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Personally I'd suggest a Bachmann class 25/24 because you have dual bogie drive and a lot more weight than an 08. Also it has better contacts to the wheels than the 08. You can pick up a good condition one on eBay for £40-£50
Hi Sam, We really enjoy your reviews on youtube and just wondered what you think about the class 40 Diesel from Bachmann. Would you consider doing a review?
Awesome loco and another great video, I like these locos I might consider getting one, I loved the diesel month it's a shame to see it go, thanks again
Thanks a lot Oskar, these are nice and unusual, which is why I like it so much! Glad you liked the month - it is a shame to see it go, but I'll be glad to run some steamers again! :3 Cheers mate, Sam :)
Does seem like a quality model to me!! Really nice - apart from the couplings which is a bit of a disappointment but I suppose you have to applaud Heljan for bringing out such a niche model in the first place. Enjoyable video as always :)
You finally did the one I have been waiting for I have the one with the gangway doors that says scooby do on the front weathered You should do another diesel month again in the future I removed both pockets for couplings and just run it by itself but that is a problem with it My one was £69 plus £4 for the postage
haha yeah I did - it was really you that caused me to get one - I bet yours looks great!! I might do this again - if it's something people would like to see! :D All the best mate, Sam :)
Sam, buy an exactopen. It's a very sharp and sturdy knife used for fine details, so you can cut anything at a very sharp angle without making a lot of damage (trust me I've cut a lot of ABS plastic for models and from models themselves.) I say this because I saw you cut that buffer beam a bit...choppy :))
Hai Sam! You can probably remember me cuz I comment to much... anyway - that shunter I said you needed to fix isn't broken 😋. I had a look at it when you said I could take the picture... and when I looked a the wheels they were so dirty! I gave them a clean and it ran perfectly😀!! Thanks anyway for offering to fix it :) Great video:) -Sam
Hey Rebekkah - DCC ready basically means DC, but has a socket for a decoder if you want to fit it. DCC fitted means the decoder is already installed! Hope this helps, Cheers, Sam :)
that looks amazing haha, shame about the livery ;? I really do like that sleeve, the more plastic the better protection, the pain of seeing the parts being cut of :( but its the only way to get it to run, maybe could of tried to make the whole inside bitter I seen a class 50 in the back I really love them :) your layout well loop is looking even better know :) see the pesky MR Bullman stuck to the front of the last train haha
Thanks very much - glad you liked it mate, even though there were other liveries that were better! Yes the packaging was fab on this... but slightly to no avail ;) haha! Thanks for watching mate, Sam :)
Sam mine was perfect out of the the box... nothing broken or wonky... I think that is why yours is at the £52 price point .. Hattons should have given you a bit more detail defore you bought.. I'd give them a call in your shoes.Maybe a case of pay peanuts get monkeys
Hi! That's good to hear! There's nothing different about the Hattons ones though - it was still brand new from Heljan! Either you got lucky, or I got unlucky! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
While this engine does not look that exciting, it does look a pretty good representation of the real thing, which was also not that exciting. Can't understand why Heljan would let this out the door with the coupling problems.
I love this livery combination as it’s before I believe shops got the paint spec for the new livery Shame it wasn’t kept ,I got this model too for bargain price blimey it’s heavy Sam 😂😂
Hey hey hey, deltic fan reporting for duty :) great video Sam. Sad to see diesel month end but also looking forward to seeing steam return for the layout, which reminds me, do you have an official name for your layout? I'm thinking of naming my next layout after my great grandad, he was on old GWR man, a shunter at Shrubhill
haha that's good to hear mate! I'm looking forward to steam too - should be fun!! :D No I don't have an official name for it - but that's a really nice idea to name it after your Grandad! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hi Sam thanks for another great video you have made a deltic fan very happy this evening!!! £52 for a heljan class 128 is not bad especially from Hattons of Liverpool I subscribe to their newsletters and I have enjoyed your diesel month locos videos. Are you going to anything similar for the steam enthusiasts out there please?
No problem Matthew, really glad you liked seeing that! Glad you liked the month, and most non-diesl months are filled with steam - so hopefully there'll be plenty for you to enjoy there! :D All the best, Sam :)
I know - sorry! I'm looking forward to running some steamers too! It's samstrains@outlook.com, and it's in the description of every video! :3 Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hey Sam! Great video as always! Loved it as always! Isn't it the last one for diesel month? :( I'm curious as to if you can make me and intro, I'm in 7th grade and don't have the software or knowledge and if you did could you make it phone compatible? Also I have a diesel that doesn't run well, so could I possibly send to you from the U.S.? Also, is there any other way to communicate with you rather than emailing and commenting? Thanks, Tyson'sTrains :)
Hi Tyson, yes that's the last video in the month mate! Those intros do take a very long time to put together, so it's not something I can do quickly for people unfortunately :/ Sadly I can't accept jobs from the US - really sorry about that - but there may be somewhere you can send it in the US?? :3 Thanks for the comment mate, Sam :)
I don't have fans, just friends hehe! Feel free to send anything to samstrains@outlook.com, though I can't accept physical mail unfortunately :/ All the best, Sam :)
Hi! You're right - I can't find his channel now either, which is very odd! This has happened with Barrie before though, so we'll wait and see what happens! All the best, Sam :)
He recently got a new motorbike which may be keeping him busy. I would just stop uploading instead of deleting the whole thing. He's channel had a wealth of information that can't be found elsewhere on the internet. I couldn't notice any abusive comments. CL
nice one Sam. I think half the problem with the Heljen stuff is that they are too detailed, seen a few reviews of various locos where the brake pipes etc foul the couplings. Anyway interesting prototype, I saw one at Temple Meads back in the late 80s got a photo somewhere, but not scanned it yet. Have a great week Jon
Hi Jon, you probably are right there - the detail is pretty extreme on these... although the likes of Bachmann also have produced highly detailed models, which are much more sturdy - I imagine it's all in the design! I'd love to see that once you get around to it! You too mate, Sam :)
I think Scott is right - it's not too practical, since it would need to be done by hand, and it's very fiddly! They do exist though - you can buy realistic couplings and use them... but you'll need a lot of patience! :3 Thanks for watching, Sam :)
especially on coaches the gap between each one would need to be large to uncouple them. On the real thing they get down on the ground to couple them. Not something you could do in model form.
hello sams trains you don't know me but I have a lms dutches of Sutherland it cost me 25 pound and if you want you can have if its ok with my parents if you would like it please get back to me oh also the tender smokes a little as its a ringfield motor but the loco has lights its also tender driven also great vid
Hi mate, ooh wow that's a great price, but I really couldn't take anything like that from you - but that's really a very kind thing for you to day! If you're interested, I can help you get it serviced up, so that it doesn't smoke any more?? :3 Cheers, Sam :)
its ok that you don't want it but if you can I would like some help servicing it I don't have much luck with ringfields apart from my hst witch has its original one
Ooh glad to hear that - they are good models if you find a decent example!
Stay safe mate,
Sam :)
Percys main train now has some competition, great review sam :-)
haha yeah it does... this thing can definitely haul more mail than Percy can ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
God, I'll miss this. Well, thanks for making this month amazing!
Sorry about that mate - I'll do more one-off diesel videos in the future though! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)

Thinking about it from memory the buffer beam details are still in a bag and my coupling worked fine . I think yours was briefly pre-owned.
Hi! No it was brand new! Which version did you get? I know the different versions have different buffer beams... was yours blue too??
Cheers,
Sam :)
I've just realised that the initials of my RUclips name stands for LMS. That was unintended, because I wasn't into Hornby when I made my channel! 😱
Oooh very cool... you'll have to run some LMS locos on RUclips now! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
They are multiple units, they could and did operate in multiple with similar units, and occasionally passenger units. More often seen pulling a parcels van though.
Love 37 40s and Deltics always remind me of bigger brothers!
That's great to hear - haha yeah they definitely look related! :D
All the best,
Sam :)
I think the DPU means diesel parcel unit. im not to sure on that, only just thought of it. it could be true
Ahh yes that makes a lot of sense - thanks for that! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
You are correct.
that packaging was amazing, almost as if ready to ship over seas, plus its not going to fall out of the package ice block with that side pull off part, very well done this heljan packaging ppl
also yay to the shout out, the only 2nd channel to do so well i'm sure others have but this is the first time on here!
Yeah it really is!! It really does protect them so well! No problem mate - glad you heard yours! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
It's been a glorious month, also I love the Class 40s and the Deltics.
That's fab to hear - thanks very much mate! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Hello sam. I enjoyed this video and I am a 128 fan. Really enjoyed this series and hope to see more themed weeks and months.
Hi there, thanks a lot for the comment - glad you liked the 128!! I'll have a think about what other themed series I can do - though it probably will be weeks rather than months in the future, hehe!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Electric American Continental.
You did it again Sam. You made another great video for thousands to watch :D. Cheers back!
Thanks for that mate, that's very kind of you to say!
All the best,
Sam :)
All the best,
Sam :)
All the best,
Sam :)
possibly you could be right there Sam. They do like to test don't they these railways :)
Great video mate :) a shame that you had to take some off the buffer beam and about the pickups :( loved seeing the layout with some of the lights off!! I had no idea some of the buildings have lights In them! Looking forward to some steam locos, feels like forever since you last ran some :) -all the best mate
Thanks a lot mate - yeah that's a shame, but it's okay now (I hope!)
haha yeah it's always had lights - just very hard to notice them with all the lights on!! :D
I'm looking forward to steam again too!! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
You know what, I think it would be nice to send a picture of the American A4 Dwight D Eisenhower since I can snap a picture after my shift working there.
Ooh good idea - I'd love to see that mate!! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Great video, I'm looking forward to steam on Saturday. :)
Thanks mate! I'm about ready for that now too :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
I agree that you should dim the room lights more often when you run trains! I was expecting you to do an American diesel review this month!
Thanks a lot - yeah I should definitely do that more! A US diesel would have been great, but I just don't own any of them (I do own two, but I've reviewed them both already!)
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
They can carry Post towards London and Newcastle
Yes they can!
those yellow axelboxes are Timken roller bearing
Ahh okay! Thanks a lot for letting me know mate!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Hey sam you ever sneak a steam engine on the mainline while the cameras aren't rolling? would be hard for me to keep ALL of it away for a whole month.
haha yeah definitely - I normally can't resist doing that ;D
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
This model look cool and looks close to a PE mail interurban with some modifications and it will look like one
Ooh okay! I'll have to look that up!
Thanks for the comment,
Sam : )
Dang. That diesel looks like a coach with a face.
haha it does!! xD
Wow! The detail on that was sublime. However, I have gone sour on Heljan. I don't believe the mods you had to do to get that 128 to run right. I never would have figured out the derailment issues. You were clever with that. The running session was fun. I enjoyed it.
Yeah I agree Ray - I've seen lots of poor quality from Heljan :/
Glad you liked the running anyway mate,
Cheers,
Sam :)
I wonder if they would also couple them to passenger DMU’s.
Maybe they did! It'd be interesting to find out! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I’m not a fan of BR blue if it was in BR green I would consider it for my preservation line
That's fair enough mate - I think they've done other liveries of these too! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Another awesome review man, it's an amazing model looking forward to the steam again
Thanks very much mate - really glad you liked it! I'm looking forward to steam too... not long to wait now! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains love the deltic mate toss up between deltic and class 37 as my favourite
Have you got a Thomas video coming soon? A Thomas running session or something?
Yeah definitely - quite soon!! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Thank you. In that Thomas video, please could you give shout to me, please, but only in the next Thomas video? Thank you.
I'm sad about diesel month ending but this is a beautiful and stunning way to end it keep it up sam
Thanks a lot Liam - hopefully you'll enjoy the rest of the year anyawy! :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
what every company make a model they always issues with cc
it ok model under detail is great but easy to break as you said
That's true! Still a fair model overall though! :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sorry could not recognise half of the diesels (I guess diesels aren't really my thing), Heres to me watching more videos
Cheers
Avi
Thanks Avi - yeah I thought they looked pretty classy too, so I thought I'd try one!
That's okay mate - I really hope your exams have gone okay, and that you're last one is fine too!
Ahh okay - well those problems probably were partly responsible for them all being scrapped pretty quick then?
That's okay mate... more steam coming soon! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Digiblade they also had asbestos in their bodywork. Not many multiple units with asbestos made it into preservation.
Have you got a GWR Diesel Railcar, as that would be an interesting addition?
Hi James! You're right - that would be awesome - but no I don't have one as of yet!
All the best,
Sam :)
Great video sam always high quality reviews
Thanks a lot Jack - glad you enjoyed it mate! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains may I ask will you be attending the warley show at the NEC this November ?
I'm trying to remember if Sam reviewed the C1 Atlantic. If he hasn't, do you think he will?
No never done that one - it was a bit expensive for me, but I'd love to do one!! :D
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
Very nice engine the desgin reminds a bit to the Class 28 "Metrovicks"
You should obtain a BR Class 28 its an awesome diesel engine because of his rareness they only oppered in the Midland Region and were based in Barrow-in-Furness
Curious Fact:One Metrovick apparead in The Railway Series his name was BoCo and its also a very popular character in Thomas and Friends

I think the 28s look fab too, so I'll try to find one!
Thanks for the fact on BoCo - I have seen him before!! :D

Sam'sTrains thank you so much I wouldn't run the car because I thought the wheel slip would cause damage
Personally I'd suggest a Bachmann class 25/24 because you have dual bogie drive and a lot more weight than an 08. Also it has better contacts to the wheels than the 08. You can pick up a good condition one on eBay for £40-£50
Edward Neve huh cheap good I like it thx I couldn't find a 08 on amazon and eBay is open thank you
Edward Neve oh crap couldn't find a 25 or a 24 on eBay one for 28 but it's trashed any other suggestions
Hi Sam, We really enjoy your reviews on youtube and just wondered what you think about the class 40 Diesel from Bachmann. Would you consider doing a review?
Hi, thanks so much! I don't have a Bachmann 40 - but I will definitely look at them, thanks for the tip! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)

Class 128 has to be my favourite diesel engine Sam
That's great to hear! They are really cool looking :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Does seem like a quality model to me!! Really nice - apart from the couplings which is a bit of a disappointment but I suppose you have to applaud Heljan for bringing out such a niche model in the first place. Enjoyable video as always :)
Thanks Lukas, really glad you liked this one mate!
All the best,

Very nice little diesel! I'm glad fans wanted it :)
Thanks mate - yeah it's definitely been worth looking at! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
You finally did the one I have been waiting for I have the one with the gangway doors that says scooby do on the front weathered
You should do another diesel month again in the future
I removed both pockets for couplings and just run it by itself but that is a problem with it
My one was £69 plus £4 for the postage
haha yeah I did - it was really you that caused me to get one - I bet yours looks great!!
I might do this again - if it's something people would like to see! :D
All the best mate,
Sam :)
Very nice review. Will there be an electric month?
Hi Luke, thanks a lot mate - I've not got one planned at the moment, but if I get enough interest, I might be able to do that! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Hey Sam, are you going to do another Diesel Month this year?
Sadly not Kamil - I don't think I have enough new diesels!!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Really enjoyed diesel month you did a great job.
That's great to hear - really glad you enjoyed it mate!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Okay! Thanks for the tip - I'll look into that! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
I have the parcels red one it's a great model , I did a review a while back , they are a real bargain, great review as always
Ooh very nice - I always liked the look of the red one!
Glad you liked the review,
Cheers,
Sam :)
No class 150s in Diesel Month ;( Beautiful models!
Sorry about that - I did buy loads of diesels for this, but not all of them of course :(
Thanks for watching anyway,
Sam :)
Hai Sam! You can probably remember me cuz I comment to much... anyway - that shunter I said you needed to fix isn't broken 😋. Hi mate! Ooh that's very good to hear - yes dirty wheels can be a big problem! Well done for fixing it mate!! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam I hope you can help me, what is the difference between DCC fitted and DCC ready. Great videos keep up the great work
Hey Rebekkah - DCC ready basically means DC, but has a socket for a decoder if you want to fit it. DCC fitted means the decoder is already installed! Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains yes that is a great help thank you, one last question what is DCC and do you need special controllers for locomotives with sound?
They are actually called a DPU
Meaning DIESEL PARCEL UNIT
Have you seen the new bachmann s stock? Are you going to get one?
Ooh it looks awesome - but extremely expensive for what you get though... so maybe not :(
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Check out Rails of Sheffield's deals on the Hornby Class 71
I have done! I've had one for quite a while actually! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
What DMU/EMU Is Easy To Maintain?
Hmmm, the older Hornby ringfield ones are probably the easiest to maintain! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
that looks amazing haha, shame about the livery ;? I really do like that sleeve, the more plastic the better protection, the pain of seeing the parts being cut of :( but its the only way to get it to run, maybe could of tried to make the whole inside bitter I seen a class 50 in the back I really love them :) your layout well loop is looking even better know :) see the pesky MR Bullman stuck to the front of the last train haha
Thanks very much - glad you liked it mate, even though there were other liveries that were better! Yes the packaging was fab on this... but slightly to no avail ;)
haha!
Thanks for watching mate,
Sam :)
Hi Sam! I really like that song, do u know the name of it??
Hmmm... I can't remember that one - I'll have to check and get back to you! :D
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains thanks
Love these units! 'DPU's!
Me too mate - glad you enjoyed it!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Amazing video Sam on hejan 128 I buy tonight
Thanks Graham - and good choice, hope you enjoy it! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
The class 128 is a really odd looking thing isn't it??
haha! Yeah it is definitely pretty odd looking! :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Great job really think this type of deisel is kinda neat
Thanks very much - really glad you liked this one! :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
hey sam!!
great video its a very interresting loco bit i like it and my new class 31 arived today
Thanks a lot mate - ooh nice, how's your new class 31 then?? :3
All the best,
Sam :)
its fine thanks check out my video on it mate (:
sam
While this engine does not look that exciting, it does look a pretty good representation of the real thing, which was also not that exciting. Can't understand why Heljan would let this out the door with the coupling problems.
Thanks Ian, yeah they're definitely not terribly exciting... I just can't understand that either, bizarre!
All the best,
Sam :)
I love this livery combination as it’s before I believe shops got the paint spec for the new livery Shame it wasn’t kept ,I got this model too for bargain price blimey it’s heavy Sam 😂😂
Thank you! I agree - looks decent doesn't it?! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Finally. I'm glad this month is over.
haha! Sorry about that... business as usual now!! :3
No I don't have an official name for it - but that's a really nice idea to name it after your Grandad!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
All the best,
Sam :)
Nooo not diesel month 😳 and what is your email
I know - sorry! I'm looking forward to running some steamers too! It's samstrains@outlook.com, and it's in the description of every video! :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Nice model and great video ;).
Thanks very much mate! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Can you please make a Indian Railway model ...Probably. An electric locomotive. WAP7 ......
Great suggestion - I'd love that! :D
@@SamsTrains cheers ...
Did you buy it new and could you do a shout out
Yeah I bought it new! Your shoutout has already been done - check my recent videos! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
I guess DPU is diesel parcel unit
Yeah that sounds about right - good point! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Those intros do take a very long time to put together, so it's not something I can do quickly for people unfortunately :/
Sadly I can't accept jobs from the US - really sorry about that - but there may be somewhere you can send it in the US?? :3
Thanks for the comment mate,
Sam :)
Class 40 is what d 199 is based on from Thomas the tank engine and in 1984 Thomas the tank engine got kid's back into model railways cool ha
Ooh very cool, thanks for that mate! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Your welcome mate
Actually he was a Class 46 Peak. D261 and 40125 (Old stuck up) were Class 40s.
Wrenn do great matching parcel vans!
Ooh yeah they do! I've seen those I think! :D
All the best,
Sam :)
How do I send fan mail 😆
I don't have fans, just friends hehe! Feel free to send anything to samstrains@outlook.com, though I can't accept physical mail unfortunately :/
All the best,
Sam :)
Brillian! I need one.
Thanks mate - they are good, I can definitely recommend them generally! :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
I take it you're going back to steam on friday...
Hi sam do a shunting session again with 040 shutters and powerful passage and feight locos
Hi Scott that's an awesome idea - I'll think about doing that! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Do a nighttime running session where you dim the lights to show the engines lights
I did do that! Check out my diesels in the dark video! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Hi sam a very sad mark yes i am going to miss deisel month but knowing you sam you will have few surprises for us
Thanks Mark - I'll still show lots of diesels over time though, don't worry about that!
Thanks again,
Sam :)
Sam it's so pretty! Shame it was a bit meh
Thanks Mark - really glad you liked her mate!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Not ridiculously sad since we will see diesels every now and then after the Diesel month!
Yeah absolutely! I'll still be showing more diesels from time to time! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Maby it should have been called dsu (deasl single unit )
haha absolutely!! ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Barrie Davis, whom you have recommended before Sam, he's channel is closed and content is no longer available!? What happened? It's such a shame.
Hi! You're right - I can't find his channel now either, which is very odd! This has happened with Barrie before though, so we'll wait and see what happens!
All the best,
Sam :)
Have a great week
Jon
Hi Jon, you probably are right there - the detail is pretty extreme on these... although the likes of Bachmann also have produced highly detailed models, which are much more sturdy - I imagine it's all in the design!
I'd love to see that once you get around to it!
You too mate,
Sam :)
I love your vids and trains
Thanks very much mate - really glad you do! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Cheers
Im building a model railroad
I honestly don't understand why don't these OO models don't have couplings like the real thing.
It wouldn't be practical.
Why?
I think Scott is right - it's not too practical, since it would need to be done by hand, and it's very fiddly! They do exist though - you can buy realistic couplings and use them... but you'll need a lot of patience! :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
especially on coaches the gap between each one would need to be large to uncouple them. On the real thing they get down on the ground to couple them. Not something you could do in model form.
Do a top ten diesil trains
That's a nice idea - I might do that! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
0:06 I take it she isn't very strong then? ;)
you got 6 seconds in before youtube failed? well you did better then me, 2 seconds before nothing,
RUclips didn't fail.
haha! No they were normally single units anyway, so I thought I'd just give her the one wagon ;D
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
hello sams trains you don't know me but I have a lms dutches of Sutherland it cost me 25 pound and if you want you can have if its ok with my parents if you would like it please get back to me oh also the tender smokes a little as its a ringfield motor but the loco has lights its also tender driven also great vid
Hi mate, ooh wow that's a great price, but I really couldn't take anything like that from you - but that's really a very kind thing for you to day! If you're interested, I can help you get it serviced up, so that it doesn't smoke any more?? :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
its ok that you don't want it but if you can I would like some help servicing it I don't have much luck with ringfields apart from my hst witch has its original one

Bachmann
Such a strange loco but nice, and of course good bye to diesel month!
haha thanks mate - yeah it is quite a strange one! Glad you enjoyed the month - I will do more diesels soon!! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Its a shame about the coupling indeed, shame for people who want to do loco drags.
All the best, Ed :)
Thanks Ed, yeah it's a bit of a pain really... and it's not limited to just this loco either :/
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Great and a good price.
Thanks Nigel! Yeah these are fab for the money! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Hated everything except the DPU and the DMU.
Ahh good! Every cloud eih?? ;D
Stil a nice model and very cheap for a Heljan model.
Thanks mate - yeah absolutely, a brilliant price really! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
