Quake done 100% Quickest is a 100% completion speedrun of the game Quake by id Software. The speedrun was performed by members of the Quake done Quick team and this movie was put together by Jozsef "j0zzz" Szalontai. I've had to remove the intro and outro because of some codec problems with RUclips.
-----
'Quake done 100% Quickest' is a run through all of Quake on Nightmare skill, going through the levels as fast as possible, killing every single monster and finding every single secret in every single map of Quake.
The running time is 48:00.
HOW THE RUN WAS RECORDED:
We recorded each demo separately, on skill 3 (Nightmare), of course without any cheating. To start with the correct stats we ended the previous level with, we used a QuakeC patch that allowed us to select the statistics we started with. There are no weapons in the higher levels, because you should have them already from previous ones. And we did it by connecting single demos together because the final product is a lot more interesting that way and entertaining, and we could include some very cool tricks that we couldn't do had we recorded it in one sitting.
Enjoy the run!

1. Toss a grenade.
2. Exit.
3. Summary screen shows "Kills ... 47/48".
4. Before the screen fades, number goes to "Kills ... 48/48".
It doesn't get much more pro than that.
Aaaah, mahd skulzz m8. l337 fgt lelelel
*talking like a human being* Absolutely right. That was fucking astounding. They really have some crazy skills D:
again at 48:53
MLG has nothing on this.
Yea I noticed that aswell
Thats because the monster he shot was still busy dying.
Can you imagine how confusing this must be for the enemies. "We have the most secure fortress we can. We've got fiends and death knights and shamblers and ogres, there's no way he's getting through _here_." Then here he comes, leaping through the air, dodging through secret passages, appearing here and there, killing enemies before he can even see them and the second every single one of the enemies is dead he just disappears. They don't even know what happened.
weapons and medkits here and there are way more confusing. why would "the most secure" fortress do it?
@@williamblake7386 even worse, they put quad damage units everywhere, probably they wanted to use them themselves, but forgot about the places :)
The non-100% versions are hilarious because they end with the monsters running around as if they're thinking "what was that?"
I completely forgot how these kinds of games used to be. Sprinting and jumping at full speed the entire time, amazing. Nowadays, you get trained elite soldiers who suffer a heart attack if they sprint more than 5 seconds.
@Livekraft his comment is 5 years old dude. lol

Not anymore, the high-speed boomer shooters are back in business, baby!
God does exist and he loves to play Quake apparently.
Well of course God plays video games he invented them lol
With some hacks.
He delights in our creation
10ys wow
I could play Quake for 7 hours a day, everyday since 1996 and still never be this good. My favorite speed run, excellent job.
Pure madness aimbot.
34:49 Oh my FUCK. Did you see that? He shoots the last enemy during the completion screen.
What a pro.
How do you do that? Do you take the shots into the teleporter or can you actually aim in the main scree?
^ grenade
@@TechnologicallyTechnicalYeah except if you actually fucking watch the part he's talking about, he's shooting the nailgun at an enemy after the end of the level, in a place that's nowhere near the exit lol. Grenade has nothing to do with it.
This is like playing the original Quake SP with quake 3 cpma physics. It's heavily modified and there's some sorcery involved
Creio que usaram um robô de inteligência artificial que raciocina um trilhão de vezes por segundo, não há outra forma de se fazer isso, nem super humanos podem jogar dessa forma. Modo Hyper-Player!
I was born on the same day, month, and year that Quake came out for MS-DOS. June 22nd 1996. Fuck yeah, best birthday present ever.
Enjoy it as much as you can, Ranger ;)
Congratss ! I born in a lazy day i think ... Nothing was released . A couple of games for the atari 2600 i think ...
***** rip Cliff Burton
1980sGamer anything released 12th Febraury? No? kay.
1980sGamer I think Id should've waited to make Doom II until they made the 3D engine they used to make Quake and instead make Doom II on what is now Quake's 3D engine. That wouldn't destroyed any other game at the time. People would've said "Duke Nukem? Pfft, what a pussy-ass game, Doom II is the biggest badass of all time"
The number of monsters these guys kill with a single quad damage is simply amazing. And I love the odd time when they pause for a moment, and you think "Why?". Until they telefrag a monster who teleports into the level at that moment. The other thing is the work and planning that must have gone into a 100% kill run is huge. Do you leave a monster alive, do you hurt it partially and kill it when you come through the area a second time? Do you wake up monsters and leave them to congregate for future rockets? The speed and precision of the weapon switches is really sweet. Awesome. Mad skillz guys, love runs like this. Thanks for your work.
At first I thought 'he's wasting so much time shooting all the enemies' then re read the title... done 100%, fuck me, the precision on this guy !!
Bunka Fas
* These guys - it's a collab speedrun. You can see the name of whoever ran the map on the top right of the screen.
One shot one kill.
@@DinnerForkTongue I'm a retard and I don't read small text..
Man, I thought the speedruns were amazing before, but seeing 100% is like a whole other level. The precision and aim knowing where all the enemies are!
Imagine how shitty it is for those poor monsters to see this super human soldier running all over the place slaughtering them all. Master Cheif has nothing on this!
I would never want to play the game this way though LOL. I wanna take my time and enjoy the atmosphere.

So much more satisfying than a speed-only run where few baddies die. The person who performed this is the reason Cthulu hasn't yet invaded our dimension.
This isn't Cthulhu's work, it's Shub-Niggurath
I like these "complete" speedruns finding every secret and killing every oponent, much better to watch than those "speedruns" finding issues in the maps and skipping most of the gameplay.
thats the point of any% speedruns to complete the game as fast as possible with glitches involved
I used to agree with you, until I watched Karl Jobst for the first time. Now I see the value in both.
Why the quotes?
48:53 I love how "Kills" changes from 80/81 to 81/81 during the level end stat screen :)
+133col I even can't understand how he do that :)
+133col most of the ones I've spotted were delayed explosives or needles shot right before going through the gate...
The one you mentioned though seems to be an exploit due to possible coding order (not error per se). As it looks from my end it seems that when entering the end point you first get switched to the score camera, start the score countdown and then your input is turned off.
The camera switch seems to take the bullet source with it and the input not being turned off first gives this guy enough time to shoot of a few more shots for that last stray enemy right in the frame of the score camera.
At least this is my best guess as to what happened there.
LMAO. IT's like "80? 80 of 81? LIKE HELL IT'S 80. PEW PEW PEW."
There's another one at 12:04.
I know very little about this game but if you look in the background you can she bullets hitting a monster on the woodlog.
36:15 This map has the most convoluted sequence of spawns I've ever seen in the entirety of Quake. So much timing in between too. Mother of god...
No matter how many times I watch this, It still impresses me. This game is so damn good
This is like ultimate hardcore memory and skillz.
Ultra Rambo aimbot.
I love these kind of level designs, so much more interesting and exciting than todays generation of video games.
FPS1993-2002: Exploration based arena combat
FPS 2003-present: M4 wielding Simon says simulator
Zelousmarineinspace Well, there's a sort of reason for that. Older FPS used the same maps for both single player and deathmatch so they needed to have that kind of exploration depth
It's no excuse for modern FPS and the huge linearity of single-player maps, of course. This is just saying why older FPS did it
Well, sorta correct.
Zelousmarineinspace Not really "exploration based" as much as "mobility based"... Not a hell of a lot of "exploration" going on once youve played the map 3-4 times and know the spawns.
And i dunno about 2003. Planetside was released that very year. UT2k4 is from.. Well 2k4 (2004) obviously. Battlefield 2 is from 2005. And the list goes on. Its generally a bad idea to generalize :p
narfle OK then: FPS 2004-present (MINUS exceptions): M4 wielding Simon says simulators
A tornado of blood, quick as a lightning, precise as a surgeon... it's impressive as fuck, weirdly enough it's even beautiful to watch. This level of skills is insane.
The player is a monster by himself.
this isnt just any average oldschool fps speedrun, the player has to account for every secret and enemy, which means higher demand for health packs and ammo. bunny hopping and extreme grenade/rocket jumping which also requires more timing, memorization and accuracy than any other. overall just fucking ridiculous. any mistake will fuck up the entire play. 10k hours was most likely put into this.
The run was made separately and there's 10 runners in the team... description.
10k collective hours

It´s completely amazing. You are Quake´s Masters. Even you have shown me two scenarios I'd never seen. You deserv respect and glory. Thanks for the 52 minutes with 18 seconds!
As someone who still plays a lot of quake 1, this is just insane
To the people who always show up to speed run videos saying "Oh it's a pity how much time this poor person wasted! Imagine if they'd spent that time inventing faster-than-light travel or figuring out how to turn lead into gold! Unlike me, who posts RUclips comments!", imagine a world in which nobody "wasted" their time.
Would there be video games, or games at all? No, we should be out in the field, harvesting our wheat.
"James, would you like to go on a walk with me?"
"No Cindy, I have to do fractions. Walking is a waste of time unless you're trying to get somewhere! I wouldn't want the Central Committee finding out I'm not helping humanity enough."
+Joshua Brooks not only that but it clearly shows that this is a compilation from several runners from different countries put together at the top.
+Joshua Brooks Having no time to rest is one extreme, but spending months developing skills to do a speedrun is another.
Anyone who says that someone has "too much time on their hands" because they do something they like this should really take a look at themselves
Joshua Brooks shut up sperg
That's actually a really interesting concept for a dystopian future.
A world in which every human, from their first steps to their death bed, would devote their lives to helping humanity... or else.

This is the most entertaining 100% Speed run I've ever watched.
This is what can be described as the pinnacle of speed running. Jumps precise, planning impeccable, aim bulls eye, result- what can only be described as poetry in motion.
After all these years learning about all the lore, seeing all the fights, watching countless ways to fight. This is the definitive speedsters edition.
To think it was done 11 years back.
This is what the Doom Eternal series meant by RESOURCE MANAGEMENT.
Salute and respect.
This was fun to watch. Played this back in 1996 on my Pentium 75 mhz. Still after all these years I remember the levels well as he is playing through them. Very nostalgic. Would be fun to play again but to lazy to set it up running on a modern system.
This game is huge. At the fastest possible everything it takes an hour. I played it tons back in the day, I don't think I ever went all the way through.
I really liked the telefrag at 3:10
Quake deserves a remake! There was never a more fun FPS than Quake and its mission packs. It needs to be remade and updated without going crazy on the effects that are possible today. The greatest thing about Quake is that it had ambience. Atmosphere. Moodiness. Gotta keep that!
God, I love that sound you hear when the Pentagram of Protection goes into effect.
NOT QUITE MY TEMPO. 0_0
You turned Quake game play into a Ballet :O
I am seeing like a movie.
Mad skills here! I'm impressed.
I don't mean to be derogatory but I think people who have never played Quake can't understand how insane this speedrun is. Yes it's an incredible precision of the movements and shots but above all, an incredible optimization of the strategy by making the most of the specificities of the map and the position of the monsters which requires a lot of thought. As I know this game by heart, it is also a treat to watch this speedrun for its intelligence. And I keep coming back to watch it over years.
Exactly. While quake is a game alotta people can pick up and play easily, some people don't realize how mechanically demanding it is to master.
This reminds me how much I miss Q2 online. Its nearly dead:(
Dark Lord: "Vizier, give me a report of our forces in the Tomb of Terror"
Vizier: "No human can penetrate our defenses! We have over forty minions, zombies, and several Shamblers."

Vizier: "My lord, now we have no forces in the Tomb of Terror!"
You forgot to add "HOOH HOOH HOOH", but it's okay
This was absolutely outstanding!
The beauty of flawless old-school skills.
holy shit, i never even though about speed running quake, damn son, you a beast
Damn! I got lost on some of the levels.. some damn memory you have!
14:02 i get that it doesn't register as a secret, but i was hoping to see the room that only opens if you shoot all the faces.
This is easily the most impressive thing I've seen all week
Those Goldeneye speed runs are so lame compared to this.
Ahahah that last kill on 34:48...the summary screen shows and he kills the last enemy in the summary screen! lol
Hell's worst nightmare
Edit: seriously... it's like handing a honey badger a pogo stick and a copy of Quake. End of all things.
Quake doesn't take place in Hell, unlike Doom.
If anything, the forces of Hell actually help you with the Pentagram of Protection lol.
chemergency It does though.
The mournful wind howling at the end of each stage is chilling, especially given the carnage it follows.
this video needs a 60 fps reupload
It looks like 60 FPS. It says it on the settings.
+wales2k it doesn't and it isn't.
120 fps or bust
i downloaded a half life speedrun in 120 fps, it was insane watching a speedrun in 120hz, specially half life.
yeah this needs 120 fps
if you have a 120hz monitor why didnt you just watch the demo file instead of downloading an entire 120hz video
man, i just blinked and missed 10 kills...
I sneezed and missed 50....
Looks like HD textures. Name of mod or it's textures?
Yeah, the name of the mod... would have been nice if they included it in the description.
@@hcabsolute I'm pretty sure it's called directQ
@@someguy8951Thanks for your late comment, directQ is just the source port but through your comment I found it. It's called Quake Mini HD addon
You are god damn genius. After playing for several years, I fail to have 10% of your fluency
I wish more speedruns included the methodical elimination of every single enemy. Doesn't truly feel complete without every stone turned.
It depends on the category.
What I learned:
If the Archangels want someone help fighting demons, they should give that Thomas guy a call.
He can destroy them before they appear by yelling 'Hue hue hue...'
Thomas, Arturo and Connor.
We need a totally related full-on sequel to this great game. I want to see a Shambler, one of the greatest monsters, in today's graphics. Vote Quake 2018
4:02 LMAO The platform (player supposed to get up on it) arrived after he already kicked-ass this ep. And also still rolling piece of poor Shambler makes it even more epic!
When the hell did the speed of FPS's go?
This used to be the Standard speed for FPS back in the days, and now people look at this like it's the most abstract thing.
how i see it, at some point ww2 games like medal of honor and call of duty became more and more popular and eventually they buried arena shooters and resulted in this degradation.
+Mad_Scientist Yes - people thought it was cooler, better and more interesting when realism was involved as graphics in games improved.
No.
CS was the first hit in that wave of realism, and it was a mod of Half-Life, which ran on the... Quake engine. Quake spawned its own demise, kinda ;)
at least counter strike had surfing and bhop custom servers... you won't find that in battlefield.
The master! Used to love playing this game stoned, also played it on acid which was interesting :)
Hey! You didn't find the DopeFish (in e2m3, starting at 12:10)
That's how we used to play games back in a days. Good shit. Kudos.
Nowadays, the kidz kiss walls to regain health and weapons are forced to be generic while the levels are long halls.
Can't get more regressive than that.
FROM 8:05 to 8:13 RUN With Quade and 1 HP!)))) Ahahh Jeeeesus crazy shit!!!))))
fucking noob
you?? yes, i know
I guess this wasn't your first time, eh ?
can someone explain me how people like quake 2 more than quake 1? I dont get it. Quake 1 has so much more fluid gameplay, the weapons are designed so well and also dont sound so extremely weak like in quake 2. Also the enemy design makes more sense and is not so random and with the soundtrack and design of the levels also has a much better atmossphere.
Quake 2 has random music which doesnt fit the game at all, boring weapons, boring enemys, the levels look all the same, everything is filled with those weird crates.
The thing why Im saying this is, I just bought the Quake Collection and played Quake for the first time and after the masterpiece that quake 1 is imo i was really disappointed by Quake 2. It is still fun, but there isnt really a reason for me to finish it.
You know this is a HD remake right?
Malevolentisonline what is a HD remake? Quake 2 is a hd remake of Quake 1? You kidding me? Did you even played both games? Totally different. Or do you talk about the video? Im not talking about the video, In the video its Quake 1, the good one.
the video is done on a remastered version of quake 1996.

Which mods were used for these graphics
34:45 how are you gonna still kill a dude after leaving the level lmfao
Broseph$talin allow me to fill you in, when you enter a portal at the end of a level, all projectiles are still active until the screen changes to the next level
I think he rather referred to the fact that the player is still shooting nails out of the level ending screen.
A glitch, obviously. The end screen teleports the player to the desired camera angle and flags him as a spectator. I don't know the conditions, but the spectator flagging can be skipped and the player can use weapons still.
@@DinnerForkTongue I think it's intentionally made to happen like this. The final kill was a fact anyway, so the way it is shown isn't relevant anymore after ending the level. It's just a indication that the nails would have been succesful if the level was still running, leading to 100%. Interesting "live" feature...
What about how they got that specific grunt to that location.
I love the graphics in this version: modern-looking, with nice little touches, yet faithful to the gloomy atmosphere of the original. Does anyone know which engine and mods were used?
ERES UN CAPÓ... UN CAPÓ TREMENDISIMO!!! GRANDE AMIGO, SALUDOS DESDE CDMX!! ESTE JUEGO SIEMPRE ME DEJARA GENEROSOS RECUERDOS.
34:50 EPIC.
So this is a quake pro...
MUCH better than a CoD or Halo pro, wouldn't you say? ;)
Robert Rocco Not saying that CoD/Halo have been very great competitively since Halo 2 but Single-player vs Multiplayer isn't really comparable because in speedruns you have to figure out a static game and execution comes down to how precisely you follow an optimal sequence while in multiplayer you have to out think and outperform other people.
That's also why speedrunners aren't really called "pros" lol
The funny thing is, rocket-jumping wasn't intended to be in Quake and when Id Software found out that people were rocket-jumping, they were just like "... oh..."
what in the fuck. I cant even think that fast let alone play..
I imagine it's not so much thought as it is instinct.
No, it isn't slowed down. They specifically say that no cheating was involved.
FragMentEditing changing gameplay speed is part of the game engine, easy to claim it's not cheating. either way, impossible to prove or disprove if it was recorded at slow speed. I can say that I've watched a lot of speed runs and nobody is that flawless w their aim.
jdestef
You'd be amazed.
You clearly didn't watch nearly enough good speedruns. You know, this video isn't played in one sitting. It's actually played by many people from community and everyone could try every level many times until they mastered it and best run is put in this video. They surely had whole levels completely memorized and didn't even had to aim. And they could do tricks that are too hard or risky to do if they did this in one run. Lastly, pro players in online FPS games like Quake 3 or Counter Strike have aim at least this good.
Very well done!! Perfect weapon selection. According to the title this is a collection from the speed running community so it is a collective effort i guess. At any rate this is very entertaining. 10 out a 10
Holy shit.
OMG!! That's what I call "Real PRO Gamers"!
What version of Quake is this? It looks so good. If I buy the steam version, would that be a good idea?
Why would you buy it? It's free on the internet. Same crap. Also, the Steam original version has the original textures too, which look shitty 20 years later.

This isn't all the same person just so you guys know, it's the fastest times from whoever got the fastest times on each map in the speedrunning community.
More importantly, it's not all done from start to end, just each map is. I'm not saying it's not still amazing, just not as much so if it was all one person from start to end.

The Technique in House of Chthon really blew me away - running across the bosses' shoulders to get to the other panel. I was already impressed with the bunny hops, rocket jumps, telefrags, preplaced grenade launches and use of terrain obstacles to kill the monsters, but that was simply next level.

@@usmh Ah, the memories. e1m5 was indeed the run I was the least proud of.. at that time I had pretty much stopped playing Quake (and all videogames for that matter) and my e1m5 run was not perfect by any means, but no other guy on the team wanted to try and best that run. "Leaving enemies behind" works if you later encounter them. Monsters in Quake are dumb and may start fighting each other, plus, sometimes it also work because you run past them only to later find them while you're quadded, then you kill a lot of monsters in a short timeframe. These runs are only so good because we re-tried them again, again and again until we're somewhat happy with the time achieved. This could indeed take many hours, sometimes over several days, and for some guys, several months. Even I was always in Awe of some runs that had a crazy trick that only worked about 1/100 times, but even in order to get to that point of the run you had to play a perfect 1+ minute run of precise bunnyhopping and aiming and shooting and then just pray the darned trick worked that particular time. Most of us who did these runs played Quake for many years. It took me quite a few years to get decent if I remember correctly.
wow... you guys have a really weird fetish... But still it's incredible!!! It is pleasure to watch it! So sick!
28:29 1hp...that was close lol
both this run and this game(despite being almost 20 years old) are still legends, I still play quake every week

Except for the fact its completely natural.
bullshit hes got the knack to immediately point and shoot at things in a tight corner, knowing all the spawns is a given but thats technically impossible to do especially if your strafe jumping nonstop
