Fun fact about ABBA's outfits: They did it for the tax breaks. Per Swedish law, the cost of their costumes could be deducted, but only if they were wild enough that they could not be worn for everyday use. That's why their attire was always so over the top.
That's the excuse they made at least. 😉 Pretty sure they could afford outfits after a couple of hits being one of the best selling artists of all time. 😎
Wow I haven't heard this song over 20yrs ago. It's a fun song to disco dance too... Thank you, Empress for turning back the clock when music was fun to listen to and to dance too as well 💖💯💖💯💖💯...
Yah… finally back with a 🔟🔟🔟 Patreon pick! 🤣🤣🤣 🙌🏻 ABBA was around for about 10 years and experimented with a lot of musical styles… their later albums in particular were quite different from their earlier output. Benny, in his speech when they were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, said that their musical influences were very diverse, classical music, European folk music, early rock, the Beatles, Motown… and it created a uniqueness and diversity to their sound. They also tended to write music that was bittersweet… the music could often be upbeat but the lyrics were depressing. Lol. At this point they were all in their 30s I think, and pretty grown. The whole Voulez Vous album was ABBA’s foray into disco. Frida and Benny were still happy here, but Björn and Agnetha recently divorced by this point in their career… if you watch carefully, you can see Frida whisper to Agnetha to go over to Benny so she didn’t need to hang around Björn, which I think is a touching moment of female solidarity. Frida was a few years older and apparently had a sort of big sister protectiveness around Agnetha.
Those are great and accurate notifications very useful for whoever didn't know. And I esp love your commentary on your last paragraph on F's+A's "female solidarity".
...well, if anyone wanted to know where Madonna got her "Hung Up" look from, look at this VIDEO! ...ha-HAAA!! ...No chart trivia today, ABBA Fans will give enough, ALREADY! ...ha-HAAA!!

Erasure did a very popular ABBA cover album in 90's called ABBA-Esque. this is one of the four selections. it's awesome! i grew up listening to ABBA so any ABBA in the world is good thing. fire.
They were both at their most beautiful around this period. Frida giving me sexy, sultry Jaclyn Smith vibes, and Agnetha as the classic Swedish blonde bombshell.
does your mother know is also disco.i like how the girls were secure in their real bodies to wear body suits then.now they would prob have proper foundation garments to flatten the stomach and push up their bust but not then and they look fab!
Hey Empress this is my favourite Abba song Voulez Vous I love that part Volez Vouz Aha Aha Voulez Vous Aha Aha Volez Vouz That’s so cool 😎 I loved your reaction

ABBA were legit pop demons...They often seem kinda corny but there's always this odd undertone of darkness in their songs. The whole Voulez-Vous album is fantastic! The lesser known tracks like If It Wasn't For the Nights, Angel Eyes, Kisses of Fire, etc. are all just perfect. Great video as always, Empress!!!! PS-If you're ever looking for some fantastic rare 60s girl group stuff, check out the "Basement Beehive" 2LP compilation. Very cool stuff!!!
Agnetha Bjorn Benny Anna The first letter of there names Spell ABBA one of the greatest bands of all time . They are Swedish In the mid 70s and early 80s there were no one like them hit after hit after hit . They were couples to Start with Boy could those girls sing .
I adore this song and I’m so glad that you had the full album version to react to. The extended middle section gives me life, and I always feel robbed when people play the shorter mix. 💙

second that. erasure's Voulez-vous version is quite fun
Epic. Like The Doors, ABBA were familiar with multiple music genres from multiple countries and mixed it all together

The horns weren’t ‘weak’ 🤣🤣
Love this. Candy Colored Disco Bliss! Modem vibe too!🔥
Haven't heard this in AGES. Could Agnetha's and Anni-Frid's bodysuits be any tighter and their heels any higher? 😲 Oh how I miss that '70s swag! 🔥💯

These two vocalists are heaven together and are pretty unmatched with the exception of B-52s.
The harmonies by the Mamas and the Papas are pretty epic, also.
