Nice to see a very rare New Model Army reaction. I find their most impressive works (by far) are the releases which came after Vengeance. They never had a bad album and have been releasing quality music for decades. Some favorites include: Thunder and Consolation, Winter, Impurity, The Ghost of Cain, Today is a Good Day, and many more! Please revisit them again!

Can definitely understand why them & Killing Joke shared several bills over the years.
Two band who have never sold out or compromised.
I love this and there are so many more fantastic songs by New Model Army for you to listen too.
As we've had No Rest from their first album and Vengeance from the second, I was thinking we should have Western Dreams from their The Ghost of Cain album next.
One of my favourite bands of the last 40 years and lucky enough to see the line-up that recorded this album on several occasions. May i offer a suggestion for a reaction by yourselves? The band's first appearance on UK national tv was in January, 1984 on a music show called The Tube. This appearance made them underground news and helped their Vengeance album to knock The Smiths off the #1 spot in the independant charts upon it's release in April, 1984. I love this song. The message is one that i personally believe in. The law should be applied to everyone in equal messure regardless of colour or creed. If you break that law, then the law should come crashing down on you like a fat old man on a skinny virgin!

Vengeance is a dish best served cold. And yeah let the karma cop's catch up with whoever did you wrong. When i was 27 years old i got the CRAP beaten out of me. I got my first ride in a helicopter The Westpac rescue helicopter 3 weeks in hospital. I didn't press charges because the cops said they couldn't protect me from them if they wanted to take it further. Gang members so i sat back and did nothing. Both of them were dead within 2 years of cancer . So yip karma can be slow but it catches up eventually. Just check out dictators around the world who come to a messy ending

Excellent, excellent and excellent (do you get my point?!). I am due to see NMA in Manchester this Autumn and have been seeing them since 86. Well done Jay - you can stand down now. Well for at least 24 hours! However, i disagree with Jay over his view of NMA after Morrow left. Yes, Morrow was a one off extraordinary bass player, but Justin and Rob's song writing improved over time. My fav song by them is A Wonderful Way to Go (go on Jay put your Morroe sorrows behind you and give it listen, you will love it). But i think the next song for the Haniers from this behemoth of a band should be Vagabonds.....

I’ve never heard the word ‘surfer’ and New Model Army in the same sentence before 😅 They must be one of the least likely bands to ever hang loose at the beach! This album and ‘Thunder and Consolation’ are good but few bands divided opinion as much as New Model Army (named after England’s first professional army raised by the Parliamentarians in the English Civil War in 1645).
Wipe Out, the 11th song on the Eight album is literally about surfing.
@@VEETEEARR Thank you I didn’t know that. Looking at the lyrics I think there is more to the song than surfing but it is undeniably named after a surfing term. Maybe a metaphor?

The song came about after the singer Justin Sullivan watched a documentary about Nazis who had escaped justice after WWII and were still living openly in South America , his view , one I share …👀.. was that some crimes were so heinous that time was no barrier to justice , same with drug barons and financiers who plunder “ millions of dollars in dirty money “ but only get a paltry fine and let off , this was released in 1984 when the UK was bust , divided , it was the time of The Falklands war , and folk WERE angry , were not prepared to take any more sh*t and were standing up and saying so , loudly !!
Of course Justin Sullivan ruined EVERYTHING not long after by booting Stuart Morrow outta the band , thus taking away in my view the main component of the music which made them special and innovative .. 🤯.. what a d*ck 🤷♂️… once Stuart had gone so was I … !!
