ANGRY COMMENT! (somebody had to do it)
This space is Layne's production studio, PattyCake Productions. It's in a mall, so when you see the shorts shot in a mall - that's where they are. Outside the studio. (It's actually Layne and Tony's studio... the Tony that used to sing with VP and took the lead in their cover of Phantom of the Opera).

    Awesome reaction guys.
This was filmed at Pattycake Productions. Owned by Layne and former member Tony. Voiceplay and Geoff film most of their videos there.
Pattycake has a bunch of Disney related original videos. The actors and actresses that play the various characters are extremely talented.
Pattycake and Geoff are collaborating on this year's Halloween video. Geoff will play lead and a few other characters.
Voiceplay is also working on their next video.

The Pattycake collaboration is going to be pushed back to next year, sadly. Due to a combination of Geoff having gotten Covid and the work for the Chicago show.

I know. Geoff mentioned it in his chat last week. They have a lot going on right now.
Voiceplay and Geoff Halloween videos. And Voiceplay is getting ready to go to Ocean City NJ to sing with Chicago.

Patty cake studios is layne and Tony’s company. Everything with the exception of Valhalla calling is pretty much done there and with their equipment. They’re truly independent. Well except for a legend of a sound engineer for final tweaking. I’m also pretty sure geoffs stuff was all chest this time but someone who knows way more than me will be along. You know it. Nice reaction and thanks for making me smile.

Well everything was chest except for those ridiculously low D1 and Eb1, those are subharmonics. His lowest chest note still is F#1, which he hit 4 times in his newest cover "Folsom Prison Blues" . If you wanna count notes where he slides down as full chest then his lowest is an F1 he hit in their cover of "Friends On The Other Side" (or an E1 from their cover of "Cheerleader" but I would say that you can't count this one as full chest). But lower than these notes he always uses subs or occasionally growl (like in their cover of "Enemy" where he hit his lowest recorded note, a grwol slide into an A0).

This one just makes me happy to watch and listen to this. I never get tired of that. That setting is co-owned with Tony Wakim - ex-baritone with VoicePlay and Layne - VPs beatboxer. Tony really wanted do the production end of things so he and Layne have space in the Oviedo Mall. If you remember Seven Nation Army, that was done in a deserted store in that mall. In the Air Tonight was done out behind Pattycake. Geoff's solos and VP's regular videos are often done in Pattycake Productions. For minis, the often set up in the mall such as Peaches (SuperMario Bros) in front of the Game Stop. That scene you saw at the end with the lit stage was used in Friends on the Other Side and in Geoff's Way Down, the gray castle walls in of course Drunken Sailor, Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, Geoff's Misty Mountains Cold. By the way, Geoff's I'm gonna carve his heart out is a tribute to Alan Rickman in Robin Hood. Eli followed it up with his best British accent on the VoicePlay line. Bucky way back when VP was 4:2:Five was a member. He works with Disney as a voice actor and occasionally does minis with them and did the choreography in Geoff's Monster Mash.

The original song verses were punishments that could happen to a sailor who was drunk on duty, since that could endanger the entire ship and crew - so they didn't take it lightly. For example, the "captain's daughter" that Geoff sings about was actually a nickname for a whip used to flog the offending sailor - so "put him in bed with the captain's daughter" meant whipping him so badly that he couldn't get out of his hammock. Some of the verses got a lot darker than that, so they really weren't playing around about this situation.
The song has eventually evolved so that the verses are a a lot less specific and became more generally acceptable - I remember singing the song when I was in elementary school music class, and nothing there was too adult for my

Great reaction, guys!! I don't know if Pattycake Productions charges Voiceplay to use the facilities or not. Eli does their lighting and effects, I don't know whether he charges for that work either. I'd think business is business, but they don't talk about it so.....
I know Layne and Tony rent Pattycake to other artists, they have 4 contracts just this month.

I have no doubt that Voiceplay pays Pattycake for production, even though Layne co-owns it. As you said, business is business and there are makup artists and cameramen to be paid. But Eli doesn't get paid for his lighting stuff since he does it for the band (and has learned it so he could do it). The same way Geoff or Layne aren't paid when they do the arranging.

Man, Cesar got everybody cracking up with this one. It took me a couple times to see him on the table at the end but it got me all over again when I did, lol. ❤
P.S. please tell me you've seen the Kat Williams story of when he tried to ride a motorcycle. There was a school bus involved and it's still one of the funniest stories I've ever heard at a stand up.

These is not about pirates but goes back to the old whaling ships. It's obvious by the way they're dressed. Many of the VP and Geoff's videos are filmed in the Pattycake Productions studio which is owned and run by Layne Stein and Tony Wakin (ex member). Occasionally they will use another location. It's often in the comments under Credits.

7:45 The song is NOT about playing a prank on someone but actually punishing sailors for drinking. Think about the lyrics
"Shave his belly with a rusty razor" - Anyone who has ever shaved with a blunt blade knows how often that can lead to wounds and in the times before antibiotics, doing that would almost certainly lead to an infection (usually tetanus) which was often deadly.
"Put him in the long boat 'til he's sober" - either they put him into the longboat hanging over the deck, which would cause the sailor to sway constantly, which would make him vomit out his drunkenness or they literally dragged the boat behind the ship to achieve the same thing or caused the sailor to be eaten (hence the shark that Layne had in his hand)
“Stick him in a scupper with a hosepipe on him” - beating the sailor on the hind quarters with a three-foot length of hose pipe while the sailor's head is in a scupper. Something like an old stockade. It can also mean literally spraying the sailor in the face with water during times when ships had hoses with pumps.
"Put him in the bed with the captain's daughter" - The "captain’s daughter" was the whip that the bosun would use for 'correction' or 'enforcing' of the captain’s law, so this phrase means that the sailor was flogged.

In college, one of our friends was on the scuba and snorkel team… although we weren’t anywhere near the ocean. One night we all got profoundly drunk and while we were passed out he let himself into the equipment room for the snorkel group and when we woke up each of us had on swim fins and snorkel mask complete with the little air thingy. You do not want to wake up needing to run to the bathroom to empty your stomach wearing flippers and a face mask! 🏃‍♀️🤢🤿
