    There are EZDIY-FAB 5v aRGB fan frames that use the same controller and little RF Control module. I am currently daisy chaining all nine of my frames, 3 packs of 3, off one RF Module and they work perfectly. I have full intentions of grabbing a couple of these kits and adding them in as well. They say up to 90 LEDs can be controlled from one controller but being 5v I am betting it can handle much more than that. Currently with 9 fan frames the controller module stays cool and they work flawlessly. Hope that helps some folks who may have been wondering. If I hit a limit on how many LEDs one of these little inline control modules can handle I will come back and update this comment. Peace and Merry Christmas everyone...

    Thanks for the video. I also have two sticks of G.Skill Ripjaws non-RGB RAM and wanted to have them RGB. I'm glad to just buy an RGB head spreader kit instead of all new RGB sticks. The only bummer is that EZDIY doesn't have the red kit anymore. They only have the black kit.

    When I built my current rig last year, it was cheaper for me to go with non-RGB RAM. But have been thinking about doing this mod to my Corsair Vengeance LPX, especially since I've populated my DIMM slots with 64GB (initially started with 32GB). Although since I have an ASUS Prime X470 Pro, I can only go for the 12V version (it has two 12v headers). Thank you for this video, regardless.

      Something interesting, and what I thought I'd share. Apparently you can use the Gigabyte 3-pin VDG cable you get with the 5v version, to connect them to a Corsair Commander Pro or Lighting Node Pro, and sync them with Corsair fans/strips. Since I have a space free on my Lighting Node Pro...wish me luck. xD

    Do yourself a favor, and use 2 separate PCI-e power cables for your RX VEGA, versus using the 1 cable and its pigtail. It's much easier on the PSU and the cables, not to mention smoother for that VEGA when you start drawing a lot of power.

    This makes a lot of sense of all the things I read up on Amazon about these EZ-DIY-FAB doohickeys and thingamajigs for the fancy lights to put on your old and busted computer component piece bits. I might need to get some of the whozywhatzits with the ARGB lighting to go with it, too. And a doodamaflotchie with some more ARGB lights, and pretty soon I'll be just like you hip young people. So, UX100 cooler, these things, the things the same people sell to go on the m.2 SSD, their matching neon strips to go around the motherboard, the case fan and it's front end lights, and I think I'm going to need more ARGB header plugs...not sure how many ARGB pretties I can chain together but I guess they sell some splitters too. The back side of my case is going to look like the underside of Clark Griswolds' Christmas tree with all these extra wires and plugs, but it's gonna be pretty! Board is ASRock so it has the Polychrome, I hope it can keep up!

    1. What is an addressable pinheaded and 2. Can I connect this to my Lenovo legion T5 prebuilt motherboard in a way that would allow me to control the rgb through the Lenovo software??

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  3 года назад

      An addressable header is for RGB. When it comes to PCs, there are 2 types of RGB. 5V and 12V. It is very important not to mix the 2, as LEDs can blow up, if you connect a 5V RGB device to a 12V header. If you connect a 12V RGB device to a 5V header then the LEDs will not be very bright. No damage will occur, you just won't get full brightness. You will need to get a SATA powered RGB controller in order to control the lighting in your pre-built PC as it does not come addressable RGB headers on its motherboard

      Oh dear. Seems like there is a short somewhere. My guess is its the RF receiver's wiring. I'd suggest contacting EZDIY-FAB for a replacement. If your DDR3 RAM stick(s) already have a heatsink on them, it has to come off. All RAM sticks are the same height and length when manufactured. The heatsinks are what cause the most changes in dimensions. If you put the RGB heatsinks on it will be slightly taller due to the light bar on the top of the heatsink.

    IMO it is not worth getting 19usd rgb heatspreader + RAM price. get ddr4 rgb instead. upgrade the components for good.

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  4 года назад

      The RAM used in the video was DDR3, which didn't have RGB back then. So, there is a use case there. Also, some people may already have a PC with no heatsinks and want to add a bit of flair to their PC without having to buy RAM with an RGB heatsink already on it.

  • @jaxonclaw2761

    You're using the term "Power" to describe "Voltage" They are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS in electronics. The voltage may be the same between the Molex and SATA, but their ability to deliver the same amount of POWER (i.e. wattage/amps) are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Too many LED's on a circuit can draw MORE CURRENT than the wiring in SATA cables can handle, and you run the risk of blowing your SATA line or that leg of your power supply, rendering it useless. It's like plugging in a floor heater AND your vacuum cleaner into the same outlet and attempting to run BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. You'll most likely pop your breaker to keep your wires from melting, or catching fire due to an excessive current draw on the same circuit! That is the reason why manufacturers power these devices using the vintage MOLEX connectors because the guage of THOSE wires were designed to handle higher current draws than SATA does. It has nothing to do with Voltage or your personal preference on whether or not you HATE Molex. They kept the vintage Molex connections around on modern power supplies for a reason! Since PC power supplies don't have circuit breakers like your household AC lines do, LED manufacturers issue their products with Molex connectors to ensure you don't damage your system.

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  2 года назад

      LEDs are very efficient on power draw. The chances of blowing out a rail on a PSU by using only LEDs is next to impossible... Also, Molex and SATA power are typically the same with 18 gauge wire. I'd be more concerned about the amount of amps going through the cable, than the voltage. Which, again, is very little when using LEDs. There's a reason Molex is dead and not included on most PSUs these days.
