北越急行ほくほく線は、六日町と犀潟の59.5 kmを結ぶ第三セクター鉄道です。山岳地帯をトンネルで貫く高規格路線であり、2002年3月からは日本の在来線では最速の160km/h運転が特急「はくたか」において始められました。2015年3月14日に予定される北陸新幹線の金沢間延伸開業に伴い、特急「はくたか」は廃止されるため、その風景が見られる期間もあとわずかとなりました。今回は、JR上越線と北越急行ほくほく線の分岐駅であり、ほくほく線の起点駅でもある六日町駅で、北越急行ほくほく線の列車の通過・発着風景を撮影しました。
Hokuetsu Express Hokuhoku line, connecting Muikamachi and Saigata in 59.5km, is a high-standard railway line. Limited express HAKUTAKA runs at a maximum speed of 160km/h, which is the fastest of all local Japanese trains. But this operation service will abolished on 14th March, 2015, because the Hokuriku Shinkansen extends to Kanazawa. This time, I visited Muikamachi station, where the Hokuetsu Express Hokuhoku line diverges from JR Joetsu line. Then, I took trains of the Hokuetsu Express Hokuhoku line passing through, arriving at and departing from Muikamachi station.

Beautiful place...a nice, calm station, snow piled up, melting snow sounds, fast 681 trains and good local departure at the end...perfect! I notice all 681 trains are on braking action, is there a speed restriction on this curve? Amazing scene at 2,40 and on, the train dissapears in the white horizon like a lonely traveller...

Whenever I take train running on straight rail, I always suffer for when to finish filming. I think the reason those trains are on braking action is passing through curve and changing their track between JR Joetsu line and Hokuetsu Express Hokuhoku line via point on the northern side.

omiyaexpress Oh, i know the problem all too well, you have to pretend you are the viewer and cut the scene at the point you feel it is enough, Yosh, wakata about the braking action.
