    Living outside the US debunks the greatest and most EXPENSIVE MYTH. There is LIFE ELSEWHERE, you may feel a bit of nostalgia sometimes, but as soon as you come back for a little while, YOU BEGIN TO FEEL AWKWARD about SOME THE INSANITY THAT GOES ON HERE. Many years ago after spending 22 years in New York, I moved to Florida because I realized that in Miami there was LIFE AFTER FIVE. Later on I begun spending time in my native country of Haiti and the neighbouring Dominican Republic where I literally live VERY COMFORTABLY UNDER $600 A MONTH which would cost me several thousands in the US. Living outside of western culture can be a very SPIRITUALLY RENEWING EXPERIENCE. LIFE BEGINS TO MAKE MORE SENSE. Most of all you can live without FEAR OF YOUR NEIGHBOURS.

    • @philadelphian
      @philadelphian 4 года назад +2

      Thanks for that. I'm in Florida and looking at Asia. The Philippines seem the most US friendly. As a vaccine for Covid gets closer I am getting more nervous about leaving my "stuff" behind and starting with a suitcase and ambition. It's scary but I believe in what you wrote. That it's a good thing.

      Watch your money here. Things are often far cheaper than it will be prices for you. Example: In Hoi An (15 min from Old Town) house --(Fully funished with AC in each room) big rooms - 3 floors, 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom, big living room / dining room area, garden, pool on top floor...$900 a month and can go for less maybe 750-800. Same type of place here in Da Nang and the owner asking $1,800/month. Make good friends here and have them help you.

    Living overseas is SUPER easy. The reward - in terms of excitement, growth potential and enduring life-satisfaction - of living outside of your own country and culture, of 'living out of the box' is HUGE. Slugging along in a crappy life filled with stress and lacking in person reward where you are worried about the next dollar is NOT the only option, whether you are young or old. Another great to-the-point video, Ralph.

      Actually this is untrue. Morning glory dish like this is usually a side dish for main meals as a vegetable dish. "Nhau" dishes are meant to be eaten for fun while socializing, kind of like tapas or bar food. Morning glory is a swamp vegetable that grows in abundance. This dish is fine eaten alone, but is considered a side dish, not a nhau dish at all. Source: am part Vietnamese

    FOOD $1/day is possible. 5 yrs ago, my friend and I had lunch at an outdoor market (street stall vendor) in Saigon. We each had a bowl of vermicelli, tops with grill pork, some greens, and 1 eggroll. The total lunch for two was $4,000 Dong = $0.17 Cents USD. The exchange rate was $1 USD = $$24,000 Dong. The stall vendor has 4 small stools(1-foot height) for customers to sit. lol. The food was good. That same bowl in US would have cost about $5.50. Imagine that! My head spins every time I think about it. Best $.17 Cents spent! There are plenty of outdoor market street stall vendors. The smaller the stall vendors, the cheaper it will be.

    I just came across your channel randomly. I live in Vietnam (Saigon) also and I also moved here from Florida (Tampa). I've been living here about 5 years. You can eat cheap, but you need to be extra careful about food safety. Most of those local food stalls don't have much in the way of sanitation, hand washing, refrigeration, or proper dish washing. Anyhow, I watching a few of your videos today. They're good. You'll probably have a bunch of subscribers soon. I just started a channel a few months ago. I'm working on improving my skills. Wow, this is the first time I see someone eat stir-fried morning glory with bread. The place you had dinner may be a drinking place, and stir-fried morning is one of most popular drinking food as it gives you balance after so much protein consumption when drinking. It is also a dish in our daily meal, but to eat with rice and other dishes, not to eat alone. If you want to try a real Vietnamese dinner you should go to places where sell full meal with rice, veggies and meat (or fish, chicken - you can choose) included. And this kind of meal is still cheap, about 1 or 1,5USD.

BTW the incense contained like 800 sticks in one package...60 cents. To add, you literally ate in the same two places that I did when I visited in October. I commend your taste! Cheers

    The original baguette from France is heavier/ thicker because there is too much dough inside and it’s hard to stuff it with meat/veggies and eat without the fillings spilling out, so the Viet made the baguette lighter, fluffy with less dough inside for the fillings , and when freshly eaten out of the oven, it has that soft crunch on the outside when you take a bite..

After watching countless videos on other channels, I want to point out what makes your video so great....you take your time in clearly recording prices for items that you buy!
