Johann Sebastian Bach's cantata BWV 140, "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" (Wake, arise, the voice calls us) is renowned as one of his most mature and best-loved sacred compositions. Despite the work’s popularity - or perhaps for that very reason - it will be equally entertaining and instructive to explore this positive and joyful cantata in greater depth. Join Xoán Elías Castiñeira and Rudolf Lutz as they uncover the cantata's secrets!
"Bach Factory" is a video series by the J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen that gives you interesting insights into Bach's cantatas - including exclusive excerpts from their live performance.

Thanks for an inspiring outline. My only regret is that you have not presented the middle section of the last aria, which depicts musically the intertwined love of the soul and Jesus, as the soloists’ lines run simultaneously, using the image of a rose garden.
