Those wanting to restore the world are the real heros (if they can do it in a safe enough way).
I like that this will make the second straight game where the player character stumbles into foiling Solas' master plan in the most mundane predictable way possible. Like, the guy might be intelligent, but he is running with a 4 WIS score on his D&D stat sheet

i missed my babygirl solas so bad its crazy !! he looks and sounds so good, and i cant wait for this game, even though i have a feeling i will break me. i just need my solavellan reunion and AT LEAST a bittersweet ending to their story, and hopefully a good ending.
have a feeling ill be romancing lucanis (i love him already) or bellara (i love her already too) but all the companions sound and look amazing.

I read an article stating that you can romance all companions as any Class, Background, Gender and Race, but that romancing or befriending will be more or less difficult depending on these choices.
Im interessted in how the Dorian romance will/might change the storyline or the Solas romance 😮 .

it's canonically been 9-10 years since the end of Trespasser at this point. that's why Varric looks so different. salt n pepper Varric is somehow sexier than normal Varric 😆

@@MegMage My favorite among Mass Effect as well I know I finished Dragon Age Inquisition years ago but I have decided to replay it before Veilguard gets released but this time I got all the DLC's with the game.
Gareth David Lloyd is Solas' voice actor :). I can't wait and so glad to see others also excited, despite the changes.
I discovered you via your DA: Inquisition playthrough, and as a fellow Solasmancer I'm soooo hyped to see you reacting to this gameplay!
I can't blame you for this - because HELLO Solas looks absolutely amazing and it's been so long! - but I think you may have missed what looks to be two of the Evanuris breaking out of their prison at the end there. The same two whose statues were knocked down perhaps? Did Rook and the others inadvertently wreck Solas' "precautions" that he mentioned, and now they're also partly responsibile? SO MANY QUESTIONS.
And what does that mean for Solas? The Evanuris will surely want revenge on him for tricking and imprisoning them in the first place, so does that mean Solas could even help the Veilguard in taking them down? It's also been confirmed that we can create our Inky in the CC alongside Rook (HYPE!) so maybe they could act as an advisor or something? I'm also scared because, we know what Bioware are like. What if the Evanuris are going to use or kill the Inquisitor to break Solas? The angst potential there is huge...
"People are always dying... it's what they do." - This line hits extra hard when you remember that Solas unintentionally took away the ancient elves' immortality when he created the veil. The way Gareth delivered the line sounded like more of a lament than anything. I'm so excited to hear him work as Solas again, he does an amazing job
I was skeptical when I saw the trailer but then remembered that all the other DA trailers were not representative of the games. The gameplay trailer relieved a lot of my worries. Still not 100% sold on the combat change but I'll be fine as long as the story is great.
I found out that one of the backstories you can pick for Rook is a Grey Warden. It’s been soo long since we last played as one. No offense to Hawke and The Inquisitor, but I have a soft spot for the wardens.

Also, from what I have read, you not only get to customize yourself as Rooke, but also you get to customize your Inquisitor from DA Inquisition.
And maybe the Warden as well? I believe that the Warden should make an appearance as well. And maybe Hawke too?
@@adrianharrell87 I truly, truly doubt they would start a character creator with four characters to make. They also only confirmed the Inquisitor.
@@adrianharrell87 as Hawke and the Warden can both by dead by this point, I don’t think they’d go to the effort of creating two extra character creators when lots of people won’t even need them.
@@fungusmoon well I suppose you're right about having two character creators for the Warden and Hawke when they already got two for Rook and the Inquisitor wouldn't make no sense. But I don't think that either Hawke or the Warden is dead at this point. Unless of course if the Warden died during the battle of Denerim which is by his/her choice or from the Calling and Hawke died in the Fade which is by the Inquisitor's choice. I imagine that the Warden had founded a way to cure himself of the Calling like Fiona did and retired from the Grey Wardens and Hawke survived the Fade and living in Kirkwall.
@@adrianharrell87 yeah, that’s the point I’m making. For *some* players, their Warden and/or Hawke are dead. Allowing people to customise their Inquisitor makes sense, because everyone’s Inquisitor is alive. But everyone’s world state/canon is different with regards to the Warden and Hawke. Not everyone has a living Warden or Hawke. They’d be putting in loads of effort for something (not just the customisation but the animation and voice lines and possibly even a plot) that only half of the players are going to need.
They did all the "chasing" in the books and comics. This game starts 9 years after DAI. So for 9 years they have been hunting Solas. The devs said that wanted this game to start with an epic showdown, and they gave it to us. My only real issue is that there is a rumor the devs CUT a part of Varric's confrontation with Solas, and that in that interim...he killed Varric. And looking back at it, when you see Solas looking down the stairs and then turning around to see the Evanuris in the tear... YOU DONT SEE VARRIC anywhere.
It does make sense, Varric's getting older and I don't see them making him a companion three games in a row. Him dying in the opening is a good way of writing him out. Plus the last thing he says to Rook is asking him to take care of the others. It feels final.
I dont think he did cause Varric is there up until Solas catches the falling statue. Pretty sure he just ran down the steps. Not seeing the place where he would kill Varric and or why. Maybe one of the other gods being released do?

@@user-ww1gk5ku1w varric took the halves of bianca and rook, lady harding and neve gapped it as the scaffolded statues came down and solas turned after moving the statue to see where everyone (namely varric) went turned back as the naga and crescent sickle loom on the other side of the dialled true black city.
Varric pleading with Solas just breaks my heart.
I may have been super hyped for Shadows but this, now this is coming out on consoles I actually own. Veilguard is probably gonna consume my whole life for like a year. I’m already sold. Love how Minrathous looks, love how the characters all look, already basically in love with Neve. This is gonna be so good.
Yeah I think Bioware missed the mark with the first trailer - I’m not sure who was in charge of putting that together lol. It was very “Marvel-y” which doesn’t fit for Dragon Age. It got a LOT of criticism when it dropped last week. But I was VERY impressed with the gameplay trailer, and I think that it eased a lot of peoples’ concerns. Either way if it’s good or not, I’m gonna play the whole thing when it comes out lmao.
Also, here is my theory for Solas’ role in the rest of the game: the statues that Rook messed up were what was preventing the Evanuris from breaking free, and the two entities we see behind Solas in the fade correspond to the Evanuris statues that Rook knocked over. So the two Evanuris will wreak havoc on Thedas and also do whatever they can to try and free the remaining elven gods, and Rook will end up being the reason why (making them kind of a foil to Solas). I think that a.) Varric may sacrifice himself to save Solas just as the Evanuris are about to get him, which will really move Solas and get him to join the Veilguard to help fix the issue, or b.) he’ll just join the Veilguard regardless to help fix things (and hopefully Varric doesn’t die).
Either way, I think Solas will end up being on our side somehow, which is how he’ll end up reuniting with Inquisitor Lavellan (and possibly getting a redemption arc/back together with her). We know that you can customize your Inquisitor at the beginning of the game along with your Rook, so the Inquisitor is definitely going to play a significant role in the game!
Also I’m so freaking excited because there are supposed to be face & body sliders, the option to be nonbinary, and all romanceable companions are pan and not limited to race/gender!!! 😭

Unlike most people, I not surprised that Harding is a companion in this game. Awhile ago, I realized that bioware would introduce a character in a dragon age game, someone who's plays either a minor role or no role and in the next game, they will either be a companion or play a big role.

I've never been so excited for a game in my life! I hope the collector's edition has good stuff.
I’ve come to accept that Dragon Age will never be like Origins again which is my favorite of the series personally, most of the people who worked on Origins aren’t even there anymore so there’s no point hoping for something that wouldn’t even be done the same way with the current team so I am cautiously optimistic about this title, based on what I’ve seen from the small gameplay they showed it feels a lot like Mass Effect with the powers wheel, dialogue wheel etc which I mean coming from me that’s not a bad thing but dragon age did have its own identity in the past and I loved it for what it was. I’m hoping the story is what’s gonna carry this for me and the gameplay will be serviceable and if I want my dragon age origins in 2024 I can just play BG3 :) BG3 really raised the bar tho when it comes to romances and companions so I’m hoping this game has at least half the memorable characters BG3 has
The companions are what I'm most worried about. From what little we've seen of them(in this stuff and comic/short stories) I'm not that hopeful. Emmrich and Lucanis if handled well could be my main 2. But the others give me Andromeda vibes.

I've had to come to accept the same thing. I've known about the combat since some leaks last year, so I've had plenty of time to get over it. I was a bummed at first, but now I'm super excited for the game. Hope you enjoy it when it comes out

Could be? I always believe that choice may have an impact on the next Dragon Age game, to kill Solas or talk him down. Along with the decision to whatever or not to disband the Inquisition.
My assumption is that the "talk him down" option will only be possible if your Inquisitor romanced him in DAI. It doesn't make sense otherwise in my opinion, unless the "people are forcing/controlling solas" theory is true.
Yeah the initial trailer isn’t doing them any favors. The gameplay reveal is FAR FAR BETTER and all the new details coming out sound about the game now sound fantastic! Like a mix of everything from Origins, 2, and Inquisition. I’m pretty excited tbh!
The girl, that got halted by the authorities, sounded like Karlach from BG3.

Btw this is still Frostbite, Unreal Engine 5 comes back for the next Mass Effect.
The tone of the official trailer *really* botched the hype because the gameplay looks pretty decent. That song makes it feel like you're playing Borderlands.
It continues the long trend of each DA game having a major trailer that utterly misrepresents the game at hand. Would have been nice for them to break that streak, but I guess I have to give props for consistency

This looks more fun than Inquisition to me. At least combat wise. The rogue is agile. I tried rogue in inquisition but it wasnt as cool as what is seen here
But all i want to be is a Wizard with some sick robes (and cape) with a hood

I dont think Solas will intentionally kill anyone, especially not Varric. If Varric dies, it wont be directly by Solas.

Well Unfortunately we can't use anything from our prior games of DA Origin, DA2, or Inquisition. No Dragon keep saves ect. It's not compatible with the Veilguards
Are you saying this because you don't know the world state editor is in the game, or because you do?
at the start of veilguard we will be given like a ”last time on dragon age” type thing where we edit our past choices into the game that will matter in veilguard, so yeah no keep but we will be able to see our past choices and actions affect veilguard too.

I would not put my hopes too high, for a happy ending with Solas. I mean, we all remember what he did in DAI, that backstabbing little egg. Just leaving a partner, not cool. Hence why i didn’t romance him ^^

Because solas evidently is not the main villain, and if he’s not a main villain or a main companion anymore it really wouldn’t make sense and people would complain about false advertising

I dont understand why people like this character, hes a basementdweller whom you slap around your dungeon. Then at the end of the game he comes out of the closet to reveal that HE WAS THE BAD GUY ALL ALONG. Like some Naruto final Arc villain....

Im not really a fan of the generic arkham asylum combat, but I will wait for more footage before completely deciding on if this game is for me or not.

@@AceOvrZero I definitely get the vibe of the many games who copied Arkham Asylums combat. But yes, it's basically mass effect but with Arkham Asylum style combat instead of third person shooter.
@@AceOvrZeroit’s because of all the jumping around. DA2 had a lot of jumping up and not and not flipping my through the air (from what I remember)
It's a little closer to Souls combat but way more forgiving and over the top.
