    450g / 15.8 oz Plain flour 0.22p
    55g / 1.9oz unsalted butter 0.41p
    175g / 5.9oz Lard 0.35p
    170g / 6oz cold water 0.00p
    Pinch of salt 0.00p
    340g / 12oz Corned beef 2.09
    340g / 12oz potato 0.31p
    1 onion 0.09p
    1 egg 0.13p
    Black pepper 0.04p
    Total cost 3.64
    6 pasties at 0.60p each
    Pastry.
    Rub the cold butter and lard into the flour.
    Add the water and pinch of salt and bring together.
    Divide into 6 equal parts, cover in cling film and cool in the fridge for at least 30mins.
    Filling.
    Fry the onion until soft.
    Boil the potatoes until soft.
    Mash the potatoes.
    Cut the corned beef into small cubes.
    Combine the corned beef, onion, mashed potato and pepper and mix together with a folk or potato masher.
    Allow to cool.
    Combination.
    Roll the pastry out to about 17cm rounds at about 4mm thick.
    Divide the filling into 6 and shape into a semi circle.
    Wrap the filling in the pastry and seal with egg wash.
    Place on a greased baking tray and egg wash the tops.
    Cut some vent holes in the pasties.
    Bake in an oven at 160c / 320f / gas mark 3 for about 40mins or until golden brown and crisp.
