If anyone is interested. The run down town they go through is Cairo, Illinois. Its essentially abandoned. A new house hasnt been added to the town registry since the 1950s. On account of its location nestled in between the Mississippi and Ohio rivers, Cairo was once a bustling shipping town. The United States once considered declaring Cairo the capitol of Country for how important of a trade city it was and its central location. Smack dab in the middle of the US. Then the rail roads where built. River based trade routes disappeared. Cairo lost its importance and over the next 100 years has slowly been dying. As you can see. Not much is left. A 21st century American ghost town
Piggly Wiggly as a goal Lol…love it. We have those here and plenty of Armadillos. Yuk to boil peanuts… if I want beans I eat beans. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Great Video. Love the back road scenery. Awesome. I remember being down south in 1977 with my buddy; on a road trip from Nova Scotia; and seeing dead armadillos on the road. We might have actually hit one travelling. Great trip you are having. Keep them coming.
Boiled peanuts is a southern thing for sure. Just to help you guys out, the shells are NOT edible. You want to eat the peanut inside. That's the yummy part. Great video series.
I live in Kansas. We see our share of Armadillos. I went home for lunch one day and one was sniffing around my front porch and yard. It waddled away when I approached it.
So you want to see a live armadillo? Come to San Antonio! I can take you to a spot where you are guaranteed to see one in the wild. Thanks for the video. Ride safe!
:) THANKS MUCH for sharing! Great find at Drury Inn Buffet and all, ALL the BEST and safe travels! Had Armadillos when I lived in TX, I think they are an Armored Rodent and BIG! Cheers from Left Coast!
Love, love, love this series! Looks like so much fun. Wish I were out on the road riding and camping, but I have to be at work. Please keep making the videos so I can live vicariously through y'all.
I just found your channel today, ( 11/30/23) I have really enjoyed the episodes so far! I’m from South Georgia, near the Florida Georgia line. Boiled Peanuts are a staple here. ( you don’t eat the shells)
We have a insta360 camera on a stick, really cool it has two lenses so it accounts for the stick and can not show it in the final vid. Love it. Thanks for watching!
Loving the channel, the to the point videos just sharing the trip with us. So cool that you came through Paducah Ky. I live just a few miles from there and work in Paducah. If your ever in this area again you need to ride down the Trace through Land Between the Lakes. It will take you to Dover Tn and then to Clarksville Tn where you can catch I-24 on to Nashville. If you guys come back through this area send me a message I will ride that portion with you and show you some points of intrest.
Darn, You guys passed within sixty miles of me. Would have loved to buy you dinner or put you up for the evening. And btw, I've lived in extreme SW Indiana for 40 years and have seen dozens, maybe hundreds of deceased armadillos............ but I've never seen a live one.
Just two nice young people, traveling the right way; back roads, small towns, no influencing. Just a really good series.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
Ur youthful exuberance with new experiences (boiled peanuts) is great!!! U guys bring a smile to my face with every vid I watch!! Thanks!!!
