Thank you soooooo much dude you have no idea how confused I was trying to figure out what that other plug went to and what I had to do to get those wires connected to what they needed to go to so thank you for telling me that that plug could just be left alone
I’m also wondering about the “extra” harness. I left it loose and the new stereo had no power. I put the old stereo back in without it and it too has no power. Plugged the little harness back into the old stereo and voila, power again. I have a 2010 Ford Expedition fleet.
Awesome man. Im going to do this in my 06 five hundred se. Any chance you would know if i can get a radio control module from a junked five hundred and put it in mine? (Mine doesnt have the volume control, instead its just a black plastic cover that looks like it could possibly be swapped out)
i own a 2008 ford taurus x sel, after installing an after market radio the puddle lights do not operate, would you by chance know what the "left open connector" controls? there must be a reason it connects to the stereo, leaving it open must result in something? i cant seem to find a detailed enough wire diagram that gives an answer to the purpose of such connector nor the other 4 left open wires from the bigger harness. any idea?
I think your puddle lights are not related but check the fuses, may share common fuse. Some connectors are extra for either satellite radios or steering wheel controls usually. Factory JBL upgraded system have some extra connectors for external amps too.
2006 ford freestyle,my factory head unit dont play cd,i have a aftermarket boss unit mean everything head unit amp, wire harness subwoofer, cant installed it cause i cant see the letters on the wires
I just installed a pioneer into my ford five hundred also but left the parking brake wire go temporarily bc I seen a few people talking about needing a bypass system so you can have video without the car being in park but I noticed you just grounded the parking brake wire which I've done on older stereos but I heard on newer pioneers that it has to be done differently. My stereo has basically the same harness as the one you have. Do you think I could just ground mine as well?
You can test the stereo before installing, hook up the harness and touch any metal part of the car with that parking brake wire, if it works, great. If not just attach the wire to any 12v source like the acc. That's the bypass they are talking about.
@@JJCentral-DIY mine has to have a sequence basically. It asks you to put the car in park reverse then park again so basically if I ground the wire then take it off and ground it again it will work which is why I need some type of bypass system. I used to have a cheap boss which I was able to just ground the parking brake wire on but my pioneer is a little different.
I have no idea on that, assuming that parking beeping is outside the stereo system with it's own crappy speaker built in. Disconnect the fuse for the stereo and see if it still works.
You normally tap the 12v power supply for the camera from the reverse light bulb wiring in the trunk. The signal wire goes from camera to the Head unit.
Feels like you made this video with the DIYer's in mind.
You were extremely thorough in your explanations.
Thanks.

Glad it was useful. Hope you successfully installed your upgraded system.
Thank you for taking the time to make this thorough video, it was exactly what I was looking for. Very instructive.
Edgar Valdez Duque how you run the wires of the back up camera till the stereo?
Great video exactly what I was looking for.
This is an great video and a real help. It's the exact model my friend has and he needs to swap his radio out , thanks!

Well done...great video! Was wondering what dash installation kit you used for this install.

Can you please send me the links to everything that you use to install this system.
Is this going to work on a Limited trim with premium audio?

My 07' Limited has parking sensors in the rear bumper from the factory. Do you know if I need anything special to preserve this factory feature?
I have no idea on that, assuming that parking beeping is outside the stereo system with it's own crappy speaker built in. Disconnect the fuse for the stereo and see if it still works.
Wait So I have to buy a factory harness in order to connect these wires...
No you need to buy an aftermarket harness that connects to your factory harness
Where did you make the connections for the backup camera?
You normally tap the 12v power supply for the camera from the reverse light bulb wiring in the trunk. The signal wire goes from camera to the Head unit.
Which double din kit did you use?
Metro kit, they are all flimsy. Just look for compatibility
Somebody Please tell me what that harness is and where to find it
Look on Amazon or Ebay for the ford
How much was all of this
I have no red or yellow.
