The YZ450 is completely unleashed unhinged pure torquey hooligan fun at the flick of your wrist. You'd definitely have to mod the hell outta the 690 SMC R to even come close to the YZ450 and even then the weight difference would still be ridiculously in favor of the YZ450.

Sending your FX oil in for a oil analysis would be a excellent video to see if your oil really needs to be changed at 8-10 hours. Just a common sense perspective says it is overkill especially if street riding.

Dude. You should do the oil change "before" you park it! Lol. I remember a couple years back I bought a Goldwing for a bit. When I got on my cb500f after riding the Goldwing, it felt like a bicycle too!

I took my cbr1000rr to the track finally after 3 years(had 3 kids in 4 years). ran like a top, i changed the fuel was it. Took a full day to even get used to full throttle out of a turn, insane fast. My 650 street bike had me too used to street speeds

2012-2016 are most reliable, and overall the best in my opinion
I have a 22 yz450f that doesn't get much use, only good for about 2laps on a track these days...thinking about buying sumo wheels for it. Also have a 23 mt-10 so the hooligan aspect is a must
The valve checks and recent oil changes probably for all day wide open throttle like racing all day like how all day long motor sport racing is

Had 250 4t 450 4t and now i ride a 300 2t and i love it
I have a 701 SM and a Beta XTrainer and honestly the 300 two stroke is just as fun! Totally different, totally worth owning both.
You should do a power to weight ratio comparison with your 2 supermotos.
Ashamed to admit also have not started up my 08 cbr1000rr since 2020. Started right up, Honda reliability ftw!

That oil change is for when you are racing 100% of the time. I think you should get the oil tested to see if it really need a oil change because you are using it as a street bike.
A question Cruza, why don't you put the original wheels to the YZ to use on the dirttrack since you have the KTM in Supermotard fornat.

This is a dedicated supermoto, if I ever were to start riding dirt I would get a dedicated dirt bike, Tire and chain swap is an irritation. Also, a 450 is way too much power for off-road, would rather have a 250 or 300 2 stroke for a dedicated off-road bike.

How many miles would you say are on the 450? I'm curious about longevity on the street.
Actually, not that much, less than 3k miles. I've mostly had other bikes with this bike and just used it as a dessert bike because of the higher maintenance. There is always an oil change looming with the YZ. lol However, it is an amazing bike to ride and worth the extra maintenance.
They really don't need oil changes that often if you are not racing and abusing them ..

Naw, I don't ride off-road enough to justify it is dirt mode, way too much power for woods riding. If I were to ride dirt more I would add a 250xcc or 300cc 2 stroke. If you rode a 450 supermoto you would understand how sick they are to ride.

Yz is more fun to a lot of people to wheelie because you don’t need to clutch up… real hooligan beast on that Ktm But you have to clutch up that KTM

I probably shouldn't have two, but i want more lol. Can't really afford or have the time for both. Every time I get a newer one that's the one ride predominantly and I have to tell myself to give my scooter some love and keep riding that. I don't ever leave it this long but same as this I can leave it for weeks and then it'll fire straight up. Should have rode yesterday on my main day off I got all geared up and push my bike outside and black skies and started thundering. Not like I can't ride in the rain but I probably shouldn't do it intentionally. Riding to work today regardless taking the trk. I work till 12:00 or 1:00 a.m. so the way home it's nice and relaxing nobody on the road.

nope, the 450rl has been neutered to meet street emission. Need to spend $$$ to get back to race spec. 450rl also heavier than yz

But yet you said the YZ is proper ! Too much work just to make it into a daily rider . I would think its more of a hassle than a enjoyment. I like lazier motors . Due to long engine life and less breakdowns . Asphalt riding kind of bores me these days . I rather be more on a technical trails then the roads .
I hear you Cruza!! I have to get my Kawasaki 250 Super Sherpa dual sport and my 2018 R3 cleaned, lubed and on the damn road. I barely rode the past few years, but this year is going to be different!! They are both in good shape, just need a little TLC and some action! Plus both bikes need tags/inspections in June. Getting HOT fast. Hell, I took a bunch of cool gopro footage in the fall and never damn posted it either. Stay up everyone!! Two wheel anti-depressant. I ripped the Kawi through my neighborhood yesterday to warm it up and got that taste of freedom BABY!!! You see where the seat is separated 2:20 towards the front. That part flips up and the gas cap is underneath.
