  • Spektrum DX9 programing for beginners,
Here a Glider 4 flap wing setup, with 3 flt. modes
    A good start setup is:
    Flt mode
thermal: flaps 2 mm- aileron 1 mm down
    Cruise: neutral flaps and aileron
Speed: flaps and aileron 1,5 mm up.
    Snapflaps, (elevator to flaps):
Full up elevator: 2mm down flaps - 1 mm down aileron
Aileron to flaps: Around the half flaps th
Full down elevator: 3 mm up flaps - 1,5 mm up aileron
Flaps to elevator, full flaps - 2 mm down elevator.
    Program DX G2
    1. Select plane type: Chose always glider if you want to use spoilerons or flaps
    2. Select wing type. Also motor if it’s a motor plane or motor glider. If it is a flying wing then use motor plane.
    3. Set trim set up to F mode
    4. Activate F mode. 1, 2, 3, maybe more if you want to use more than 3 flight modes on a glider
    5. Put in the servo plugs in the receiver, it can change for the wing type.. Use the monitor to see this….
    6. Set the right directions and sub trim the servos.
    7. Set the travel for the servos
    8. Set the ailerons differential, not too much because this can be a problem when using spoilerons and flaps
    9. Dual rate and expo, 50% on ailerons and 40% on elevator and rudder is a good start.
    10. Camber preset: Motor plane/Glider, here you adjust: Motor plane: Flaps up/ take off flaps/ landing flaps and elevator compensation and how fast the flaps move. Glider:Flight modes as Thermal /cruise/speed and how fast it changes
    11. Camber system: Glider, here you adjust landing flaps/ crow brake and which switch or stick you will use for it. (In crow brake not more up aileron when using the crowbrake that when using the ailerons the aileron that going down must go down to neutral, in this way you still have good aileron control.
    12. MIX: Flaps- elevator, here you adjust the elevator compensation when using the landing flaps (Camber system) and adjust the offset so that the elevator start moving when the flaps is moving when using the throttle stick to control it. 2 mm down when using the flaps is a good starting point.
    13. Mix: Ailerons- flaps, here you adjust all span ailerons
    14. Elevator- flaps, here you adjust the Aileron -rudder, here you adjust snap flaps
    15. Aileron -rudder, here you adjust as described
    16. Set up the spoken Flight modes and switch change sounds
    17. Set up telemetry in auto config.
    18. Motor planes with flaps: you can go to elevator dual rate and set the switch to fl mode/ flaps switch and then set it so you still have full up elevator movement, when using the flaps and have set down elevator compensation, in this way you still have enough up elevator to pull up in the landing when using the flaps
    19. Set the timer
If you program a flying wing with 4 flap wing, then set it up as a glider with 2 ailerons and V tail. Outer flaps are ailerons and inner flaps is the elevator/rudder
Then a mix: Aileron- rudder to 100 % and elevator- L aileron 100%
And then set the Dual rate for the rudder to %
    Good luck

Very helpful! I picked up a new dx8 and changing an old arthobby sailplane from futaba to spektrum. This is awesome!

    Excellent video Soren !
As you know , I really appreciate you sharing all your glider knowledge with us.
    I can't thank you enough.

Very well done. I have never been able to find such good information on sailplanes for the control setup.

Hey Soren. I really love your videos and tutorials. Here we have a nearly perfect tutorial for DX9 Glider setup. Thanks for that! Only thing i´m missing is setting the offset to 100% (or -100%) in "camber system" to use the full length throttle stick way for crowbrake. In your setup breaks are coming out only from middle to downward. Best wishes from bavaria. A.

    Dear SpeedsterDen, dear Soren,
a very excellent video which lots and lots of info, which really helps. However, I have a flying wing with 4 flaps and a motor.
    1) Can you help me with a set-up for it, in which the motor is on the throttle stick (mode1)? (so as acro??)
    2) Can you help me with a set-up in which the ailerons and flaps work together, that is that the flaps go less up/down then the ailerons?

    - spoiler controle on throtle

On witch chanel should I put the two spoiler servo’s. And how do I mix all this in the transmitter?

What do you think of LemonRX?
    Would you reccommend or not?

I have many, and most are ok. I have 2 lm0052 with short range but now I just use them as vario/altitude telemetri together with other rx.
Spektrum now make some pretty cheap telemetri rx AR6210 -AR8020 and they are great.
In most of my small gliders I use the small 6 ch from Lemon.

Thank you for that. For some reason, Spektrum is very expensive in Australia.

@@Chorney08 Also here in Denmark, but the new 6610- and 8020 telemetri rx with variometer/altimeter are only around 100- 110 $ here in DK and we can get them in DK

Hej. Jeg har en kanal til hver servo i vingerne (4 stk) og ikke y-kabel. Kan jeg stadig lave samme mix? Jeg er næsten færdig med min svæver til skrænt og termik og flyver i nordjylland. Og tak for den fine video.

Hi Soren, I've also posted this on the Model Flying Forum, where you answered my initial call for help, but in case you don't see it there, here it is again here:
    Hi Soren,
I've been looking through your excellent video.ruclips.net/video/ZgjYSq447Jw/видео.html&app=desktop
I was copying your method of mixing ailerons to flaps, when I noticed at 10.08 minutes in, you have flaps set to 47%.
But when you push the aileron stick over to the right, the flaps show RF -51%, and -LF 47%.
Also, the ailerons show LAL -71%. and RAL -99%. Different percentages each side, both for flaps and ailerons.
At neutral, I did notice that your LAL showed 18%
On my setting up my own DX9, I find the same situation- different percentages on the left sliders to what I have requested.
Just wondered if you are able to clarify what's going on? Thanks, Jim
