      Thank you, Barbara! I was pleased with the result as well, and since I have to wear this shirt for 21 days in a row, I'm happy with how simple and pretty it looks 😊 Wait until you see next week's video with the change...heehee!

    Adorable. Love the fresh leaf indigo. Mine is looking quite spindly because I also got a late start moving my plants outside 😅

      Thank you - It's been fun to wear around! I'm definitely going to do more prints with indigo leaves 💙 Mine are finally flourishing just as I've started traveling for the next 2 months. Hope to still have some leaves to play with when I return 🤞

    Very pretty! I still have a few indigo leaves left from my dye session and will try the hammer method!

      I absolutely love how the fresh leaves print! I have the fiber left from pounding 15 leaves for name tags and it is so beautiful. I'm going to embed it in my own artwork and explore it more as a design element. Have fun with the hammer 😉

    That is really pretty!
    Was wondering where this wool shirt was going to make an appearance
    😉
    I have some coral Zinna's that fell down in recently in a storm we had and I am going to do an eco print.. maybe tomorrow

      I've been living in the shirt now for 17 days, so it is very much appearing in my world 😉 As someone who rarely wears anything with a print, I was happy with the simplicity of the design and how beautifully they printed.
      Let me know how the Zinna's turn out. They are such pretty flowers, so will be cool to see how they might share their beauty with you on fiber 💚

      @@jessicabey275 Wow...so interesting. I have never worked with zinna, so good to know. I recall researching it last year when I was roaming around a flower farm, but couldn't find anything about dyeing with it. What color did you get from the center?

      @@jessicabey275 It truly has been light wearing any cotton t-shirt. I have not noticed feeling hot and it is is really comfy to wear. Wool & markets the benefits of wearing wool year round and it definitely passed the test with me 😊

    Excellent tutorial. I plan on trying this with some sweetgum leaves from the trees by my house once they start to turn their fall colors onto a shirt I already died with onion skins.
    I do have a question though. Do you treat it in any way to "lock in the color" once its been pressed or just leave it be?

    • @MargaretByrdColorQuest
      @MargaretByrdColorQuest  2 года назад

      Many thanks, Ben! I've never tried sweetgum as I don't have it growing near me. Sounds like a great autumn project to tied into your onion skin dyed shirt. The best practice to help natural colors stick around longer is to pre-treat your textile before dyeing it. Since you've already used onion skins, there is a natural tannin mordant there, but you may want to add a boost with an alum pre-treatment if you can. The tannin/alum combo is the best mordant mix out there! Have fun and let me know how it goes 🤎
