With the pistol sequence, a bunch of people had an unthinking moment - namely John Browning, and the men at FN. Their "unthinking moment" was deciding to incorporate a magazine safety. If there was no magazine safety, it wouldn't have occurred to Bill to insert a magazine in order to ease springs after cleaning.
A sobering moment. The takeaway from any safety lesson is that if you assume it won't happen to you, it is probably going to happen to you above anyone else.
Honestly, that last one seems like something that would just happen if you had an original SA80/L85. Suddenly switching to full-auto for no reason would be something I'd expect from the RSAF's last hurrah.
Sa80 a1, the worst manufactured weapon of British armaments, after the SLR we should've had a choice for using m16, French Famas, and even the sig saucer, but oh no, sa 80 we must use because it's a piece of dog shit, a proper toilet pot gun, we've been stuck with for over 3 decade's. Disastrous weapon.
Yep!No shit guys.Finger off the trigger, point in a safe direction where nobody is at.Clear it many times to ensure no round in the chamber.Always think about what you are doing.Firearms safety is paramount.
who remembers the one before deployment to North Ireland, back of the Bedford, I the Sgnt says steady to the driver, one of the blokes think he said make ready, later back in the barracks they are mucking about and he shoots his mate.
@@Carlz1965 Well done yes. I watched it in 1985 I think it was my first deployment. Say what you like watched once in 35 years ago and not forgotten, so it must work.
@@Carlz1965 Ok double or quits, the one about drugs. Bloke is working in stores, but shuffles about like a Zombie. I think this was 1987 when the rave culture was sweeping Britain. :)
@@Carlz1965 LOL you get better vids than the Army. You were there in 1987, were you allowed out to union street. I was based in the citadel in 87 29 Royal Artillery .
What happened to the NCO on the firing line? That Sergeant and Corporal also have to check each soldier carefully as each soldier clears his individual rifle on the firing line. Those NCOs have failed their responsibilities. That officer failed to comply with range rules along with his NCOs to ensure safety.Dont get into a rush especially with safety!!!
the drills are idotic ! the browning like the 1911 is designed to be carried cocked and locked ! he had just racked it applied saftey and holster then no one would of got shot
The biggest unthinking moment was done by the narrator when he said how wonderful the SA-80 is.

Bill's biggest unthinking moment was getting engaged
Wahahahahaha Merry Christmas
This is still doing the rounds at HMS Raleigh today.
Watch out for the sequel: Kill Bill
11:38 no chance, the A1 would have had a stoppage
Brings back some memories.
Why does the 90s suddenly look like the 70s?
it was 1987ish. cos i was in it. lol
All I learned from this was stay away from blokes called Bill! They seemed somewhat unlucky to be around
1444, Bill Hodges, thinks SA80 is a excellent weapon...........back for retraining......

@@chrismitchell4808 I used SLR in the 80s, A1 in the 90s and now the A2. I never had an issue with it.
typical of a man who never fired any other rifle (l85) ! i bet his tune would change if he fired an ar-15 !
Just for the record I have used amongst other fire arms, AR15, "tavor, Garand 30.06,Walter ppk in both, 038 and 32 Browning 9mm, ACP 45magnum 44
lesson to be learned from this.....if you know a Bill, slot him before he slots you.
this was one of the vids in my basic never thought i would see this again
I was shown this in my basic training February 2007!!!!
I saw this video during Alpha training 2 weeks ago. Scared me, sergeant never explained why everyone was called Bill
I still remember a similar video from the 70's. Same sort of scenario but SLR's being the weapon.
Memories as a but rat, don't forget range stew, and tea with so much sugar your teeth will fallout .
Ha remember this video back in 92, 58 pattern webbing with elastic sewn on the yokes and kidney pouches happy days
See the Bills, run for the hills!
Bill Baxter was a bit of a p*rv*rt, supporting Leeds United lends credence to that
This was still doing the rounds in 2010....
It's still doing the rounds in 2020 😆

Argos ring.
90’s? I watch this in basic last January.
Ring from Argos.
Interesting collection of cap badges.
Fucking hell Bill.
What?! Gary? Denise? Bob? Is this a soap opera?! I'm lost keeping-up with the characters and plots...

9mm browning pistol..sod the drills everyone knew just stick your finger up the magazine housing a depress the catch to ease springs!

I had this in my basic in 2001 from the comments nothing changes
British version of don't be that guy.
pmsl never thought i would see this again ....
l hated the A1's in Basic training phases 1 and 2.
This is why minimum IQ recruitment is a good thing
Did Pete grass Bill up to his CO?
bills a mong
Lol
They still use this video 😂
Bill Baxter 😂😂😂😂
Super army soldiers
Nothing super about Bill Baxter
M-O-N-G!
is the seven point check the process of engaging the safety, checking chamber etc?
@5:08
It looks like the kid who had the ND hit the guy who played Harry Potter ...
Well, 'every cloud', as they say...
Isn't this a Song by The Church?
Would a 9mm graze to the stomach actually have you puking blood like you're under pressure?
Very 1990s,posh officer class,
Would you be able to send original file to me please?
Firearms safety is common f@$!# sence.
Yet thousands are shot accidentally every year. Common sense isn't as common as you'd expect.
Ok Bill.
3:43 Is that Pete aka MINDWISEMAN?!?!?!?!?!?!
lol
Naaaaah...I've been sussed......haaa :-)
Bloody hell, it is. Must be a boer war training video...
I sodding knew it. lol :-) That voice alone pegged you mate. Classic. ATB Moose

Goodday, Do you have the script for this video ?

Oh come on Gary…You know the traditional marriage isn’t for you…It’s just a ‘role’ imposed on you by society.
