Hi, Vicki! You’re wearing your Stich Fix tee! I like the color!
This video was so helpful! I love the cinnamon disinfecting tip and the industrial labels! Where do you get the green ties to tie the shoot to the support? I bought a spray fertilizer at Home Depot for the Mystic one I am rehabbing. Should I fertilize while my orchid is blooming? I have not fertilized the blooming ones yet, and they are still blooming. My first one sent out a second spike. I have had continuous blooms on that one since December 2023!
I was too hot to go to the Redland Show, but I am going to try to go to Silver Vase headquarters and explore!
Okay, my bay window orchids send their regards! I hope you can get in the bus and come to Miami one day, or I can go to the Tampa or Orlando shows. It is an interesting world! 💐
that top is so comfy and cool. it looks a little sloppy but it’s summer!
is there anything you would add to the list as an inside grower?
i got the twist tie in a spool from amazon as well as the industrial tags. i think i left links in the description but but i will check and update if not. i just got a new spool of twist ties and used yesterday. and that cutter thing is serious!
i fertilize orchids while blooming but i try to get nothing on blooms ever - not water, fertilizer, fungicide, etc. i fertilize very weakly because i grow semi outside (screen porch). i use a 20-20-20 and occasionally kelp but it stinks. also have slow release pellets which is why i fertilize weakly.
@@VickieCarla Hi. The top looks nice.
I was asking about the ties that are precut. They’re green and already come with the orchids. They are like clips.
What was the name of the supplier in Homestead? OBE? How far do you cut the shoot back after blooming? How do you know when it’s time to repot a moth orchid? Do you go up to the next size pot? Should an orchid stay with its original medium such as sphagnum moss or bark? How often to fertilize? Just on the roots? Thanks again! 💐
P.S. I saw your fertilizer answer! My moth orchids are indoors in a bay window.
@@VickieCarla P.P. S.S. Where do you get the transparent elastics that help the orchid curve as it is attached to the stick with the green clamps? 😉
@@carolm4545 could OBE be OFE? They are a very popular place to buy orchid supplies. Funny story about cutting bloom spikes - I accidentally broke one before it bloomed. It was still pretty long and I just left it instead of cutting it off. Wouldn't you know, it made two bloom spikes off the one! Usually I cut down to between 3 and 6 inches. Look for those triangle things (nodes?) and cut a bit above one of those because, if i's going to rebloom on that spike, it will come from one of those. I was having trouble keeping one phal in the pot and I used it hardened spikes to keep it in - bent them down to grab under the top edge of the pot!
