This reminds me of when I was 16, my car had no stereo so I put an old cassette player in the back seat. We had some old tapes that were my best friend's dad's. Metallica, Nirvana, Alice in Chains. Better simpler times

@@tommj4365 yeah - a lot of people that grew up in the 90s with these songs don't consider these underrated songs. Perhaps not on the pop-music scene, but definitely for those that followed the bands. The same could be said for a lot of the Soundgarden, Nirvana songs. Some of their best stuff was not on radio, so you had to listen to the full cds - or tapes. I recall some of the songs I could only find on some tapes. Anyhow - rambling. Sweet song. Great cover.

Did you forget to tune the E string down a whole step, that was in drop d! But it was just spectacular anyway!
no it sounded like it was in drop D but that the guitar was not setup or intonated properly, or was warped, because the open D sounded more in tune than the higher frets. probably just a cheaper guitar or bent neck, not a big deal. it sounded great otherwise.
The low E is definitely out of tune
@@connerbeckett7193 She actually is trying to play this in drop C#, which is probably too low for that acoustic to sound good in, or she accidentally tuned the low string in drop D and the rest of the guitar in drop C#, which is what it sounds llike. still an amazing cover.

Exactly. It's so good anyway, but that would have made the entire difference.

This was one of my wife's favorite songs, and we talked about playing a duet without the time or talent to try. So I'm trying now, and this would've made her happy. Very clean fretwork, think there might be a flat note in that descending line in that main intro/outro riff, but other than that, absolutely brilliant! It’s very difficult to play that clean and sing so beautifully at the same time, so job very well done. Keep up the great work!

Something I think that has been overlooked... is that Cantrell played the guitar and Staley sang. This girl is doing both and nailing it with an awesome performance!
Cantrell does both a lot, singing harmonies with Staley. Sometimes he sings the Melody and Layne harmonizes, like in the song "Brother" or "Don't Follow" or the First verse of "would?"

I just checked few of your videos. It is crazy how your Nirvana covers sounds ok but your Alice in Chains covers sounds brilliant ! And that makes no sense since AIC is much harder to perform than Nirvana :D Also try Seether it will suit your voice. Maybe Driven Under
That would be a good one.
Probably because AIC has a lot of nice complex guitar parts, whereas Nirvana is mostly power chords, which don't sound that great on an acoustic.

I hate the feeling when I rediscover old bands I used to love. Alice in chains was such a huge part of my early grungy childhood. The atmosphere just washing over me then, like it is now. It's like a wicked sense of nostalgia.

YESS!!! One of your strings is very obviously tuned too low... but you know what? Litteraly every other aspect of this cover was so perfect that it completely negates it. Subbing!

@@b3w4r3__- her guitar is tuned to drop D , but the E String which is tuned to D is tuned flat of D . On the rest of the song you don't really use that string , so that's why it sounds good until she plays the intro picking part . Depending on her action ( height of strings off the fret board ) , sometimes drop D doesn't sound good on some guitars . You really have to set your guitar with higher action on the lower strings if you want to drop it . The best is to have a different guitar set for standard and one for dropped
Regardless, it’s a brilliant cover and the tone of her guitar matches her voice well.
